Will not work with Lumix cameras – Read FirstI received the unit and worked fine in my Vixia Camcorder and GoPro 3+ using Mini HDMI and Micro HDMI cables respectively. However, could not make it work with neither of my Lumix cameras, GH3 nor G7. I wrote an email to product customer support and indeed they indicated due to the synchronization process within the Panasonic camera device is different from their product, it did not work with Panasonic cameras. However, due to the fact I already had an HDMI to SDI and SDI to HDMI converters (from Wiistar also), I was able to use the converters as a bypass to the Panasonic cameras output and it worked. I only used a 6″ SDI cable to connect both converters. But other than that, the capture device have been working great, no issues. It does get hot, but I have used it for hours at a time and have not failed, with OBS, Zoom, Skype, and Webex. 4 stars because of the incompatibility issues with Panasonic cameras. I gave my webcam to a friend so had to keep the capture device, since webcam prices took a ridiculous increase, and for the price, this capture device has given good service for the past month and a half. 1080p at 60fps, confirmed.

Good for the price. Colors are fixableThis capture card works great for what I am using it for. Most of you will be using it for game capture or turning a DSLR into a webcam, and for those uses the color shift may be an issue. I am using the card to bring a PowerPoint presentation in from another computer. The colors are, as noted in other reviews, off a bit, but I found it easy to fix in OBS. I can’t speak to frame rate and such as that is not what I’m using it for. I feel like if you know how to use the color correction filters in OBS or have some other way of adjusting the colors, this can be a bargain option for you. it saved me a bunch of money and I’m am quite happy. It loses one star for the color mismatch. i hope that helps someone.

HDMI CaptureEven though there were very few reviews (let alone good reviews) on this device I thought I’d give it a try anyway. I plugged a Raspberry Pi 4 HDMI cable into it and then plugged the USB 3 side into my iMac. With QuickTime I was able to get the display on my computer. I then tried this little classic video game console and it too displayed nicely on the QuickTime window. It doesn’t display perfectly (slight artifacting on the screen) but it was good enough to play old time games. At first I couldn’t get any sound but this turned out o be my fault, I forgot to turn up the sound slider on the QuickTime window. After that everything works well. For the price I can’t beat it.

Great device and so small to do all it doesIt is everything they said and more. But make sure you plug the cables in correctly (saves a lot of embarrassment). The IN plug is where the cable from the camera brings IN the video signal. Duh.. Well there ARE two plugs on that end and one is for signal OUT. Oops! I moved my camera cable to the IN slot and WOW. It just is awesome even to full 1080 HDMI quality. And the cost was a real deal for what it is doing. It goes in the camera bag every where the camera goes now. We are using it for video recording our church services. We bring in the Audio on another line so I cannot tell you what this device’s audio qualities are. However I would expect them to match the video quality.

Darker picture, artifacts, and runs VERY hot. This capture device is a decent value since it has a pass-through port. It’s recognized on a Mac automatically as an external webcam and works with Zoom, Teams, FaceTime, OBS, and Quicktime. However, it reaches very high temperatures in operation, the picture fed to the Mac is darker than that fed by other interfaces, and the image quality is lower, with some significant banding in the shadows. For a pure capture, I’ve had good luck with the LEADNOVO, the output of which is shown in comparison. However, it lacks the passthrough, which is important in some applications. (I kept one of the two Wiistars I bought for an application where we need pass-through, but returned the other.)

Save your money and go with something like an elgatoI’ve been looking for a screen capture device that’s affordable for streaming on twitch. It does work out of the box with streamlabs obs. There is however a few issues one the color is washed out and signal quality of the picture is degraded somewhat no matter what resolution you choose.. For the money you’re better off saving up an extra $50 and going with an elgato. On a positive note the construction of the device is solid it has a solid aluminum case and sturdy connectors and has 3.5 mm Jack for headphones.

Works…Works as described, but video quality is not as good as from a more expensive capture device. I felt this should be priced under 50.00
