3. Yamaha TF-RACK Rackmount Digital Mixer Overview | Full Compass
hi I'm John shower from Yamaha and I'm here today at full compass to show you our new TF rack mixer this is part of the TF family you know the TF one the TF three and the TF five mixers and now we have a rack mount version of the very same engine so in this product you'll find that you'll see the full on screen directly from the mixer so that we have a full on touch screen you can completely operate this via this screen so for those of you who need the ability to quickly get around and do your changes you can do it right from this front panel you can also do wireless control all you did is I had a router and it we have the iPad app for it that works exactly like it does on the mixers the TF rack comes with sixteen XLR inputs that are both XLR and quarter so you can plug all sorts of inputs into it it also has a two track input with RCA s and then you have sixteen analog outputs on the back for connectivity to most anything plenty of the routing inside the mixer is exactly the same as the rest of the TF family so you have those stereo auxes that you might need for in ear monitors it's got the mono auxins that you need for for floor wedges and then also of course your stereo and the matrix outputs for any type of a mix that you'd like to build as you see from the front panel it looks a whole lot like a regular mixer does at the top of its front panel and that's all of the operation is exactly the same we've just basically removed the faders so it makes it easy if you're thinking about a smaller situation where you want a reel to quickly roll something in and out of a classroom or a church these small mixers in the iraq mount form are the way to go because you can really get a lot of horsepower in a very small space because we have all those effects and all the quick pro presets and things that we brought out in the TF line are available in here as well so you're going to find all that inside this unit around back you'll find also a Dante card slot so that we can expand this mixer to 32 inputs so you can get a lot of horsepower in a very small package so in the front panel of the TF you'll will see two USB inputs as well one of these is for your data so you can store all of the scenes and anything that's related to the operation of the unit and the other is for your music so that's marked iPad so that you can plug an iPad or an iPhone directly into it it'll take that audio digitally via the charging cable that came with your Apple device and it actually will charge your unit as well so it's a great way to have your music for playback can be right off the front panel another cool feature on this console is the this flashing light that you see on the side of the panel here is a tap tempo so you can quickly set your delays for that next song that would normally require some sort of an outboard device we put it right there as a front panel key so it's very easy for you to quickly with three taps set your delay for that next song perfect for that so the touch screen that's on this unit is more than a touchscreen it's a lot like an eye device in that it's multi-touch or gesture so in the case of this screen here which is EQ adjusting EQ is as simple as boosting or cutting with my finger and then I can take two fingers to actually control even the width of the filter and sweep it around to where it needs to be this is really quick for trying to find feedback and kill it in a hurry the other thing you'll notice is we've added some features to that screen you'll see an RTA that's picking up the ambient sounds from around us right now and there's one other thing I can show you is on the ability to put a piano keyboard at the bottom of that screen if you have to talk to somebody who's a piano teacher or somebody on stage who's not an audio person may be more of a musician you and middle C has been highlighted right on that keyboard so for more information about the TF rack you'll want to go to full compass comm or contact your sales Pro here for more information
4. PreSonus SLRM32AI Rack Mixer Review – The Sweetwater Minute, Vol. 254
hi I'm Mitch Gallagher welcome to the Sweetwater minute this time out a special first look at a brand new product from Presonus let's get started I'd like to introduce you to the brand new studio live RM 30 to AI now this is a rackmount version of the StudioLive AI console that includes an incredible amount of features and allows control from Mac PC or iOS we'll go in-depth to look at the features of this console but let's take a tour of the hardware box first we'll begin with the front panel dominating the center of the front panel we have 32 XLR inputs those look except mic or line level they have phantom power and they also can be phased reversed we have a bank of 32 LED indicators that show a signal present as well as overload on those input channels on the far upper right we have a pair of XLR outputs those are the main outputs that you'd use to feed your main speakers we also have a mono output that can be routed as a separate mix or you can set those three outputs up as an LC our mix if you like across the bottom of the front panel we have 16 XLR mix outputs now with the first release of the software those are directly routed from the 16 aux ends within the mixer but the first software update will give you the ability to route those 16 mix outputs any way that you like within the mixer we have an additional stereo pair of RCA inputs that you can use for a tape deck a CD player or an mp3 player and we also have a headphone output that has its own volume control and you can switch that from monitoring the Q output or the main outputs on the back panel have a pair of D sub outputs and those mirror what's coming out of the 16 XLR outputs on the front the back panel also has MIDI input and output there are two s800 connections now those would be used to connect your computer by firewire 800 when you're recording finally we have a SPDIF output and that's a digital mirror of what's coming out of the main outputs you may notice that this lower right-hand section of the back panel is actually an expansion card there's a slot in there that can accept different cards that will give you access to different digital formats for input and output now these are the same format cards as will fit into the desktop StudioLive AI consoles from Presonus they take charge of all the parameters inside the RM 32 we use the universal control ai app now this runs on PC Mac and iOS in this case I've got it running on a touchscreen PC laptop so the way this works is you connect the RM 32 to a wireless router using Ethernet and then you log your computer to that same wireless router and you have direct control over the mixer start up the app once the app is started it'll look for connected mixers which show up here at the bottom of the little window when we touch on that the mixer will open up let's make our screwing a little bit bigger here with this window open we have access to all of the mixer parameters we can scroll through all the channels and as you select a channel its parameters show at the top of the screen so as we move through the channels we're accessing each of its parameters so we'll go back to the first input and we can set that up for whatever type of input we want we can choose a category we can choose an icon for that we can link two channels together so if we click on that two channels will be paired and they'll operate simultaneously this is also where we can switch the mixer to accept input from those s800 connections so when we change this to the digital input now we're seeing the returns coming back from the computer and if we switch this back off now we're seeing the inputs from the front panel each channel has its own gate and we can set that up to be either an expander or a gate whichever way you like to use it and you have control of course over all the different parameters for the gate we can also turn that on and off by clicking up here each channel has its own compressor and that can be set up for soft knee response for hardening response we can also set it for auto release and each channel has its own equalizer so when we click on that tab that will open up and you can adjust all the parameters for the different bands of EQ on the left of this view we have control over the preamp gain we can turn phantom power on and off we can reverse the polarity for the channel and we can wrap the main output the mono output or two both in the fader section of the mixer view we have a solo button for each channel we also have a mute button for each channel and we have control over the pan for each channel in addition to a fader that's that's the level for that channel over here on the right we can access the 16 aux ends now as I mentioned earlier in this first release of the software those are hard routed to the 16 mixed outputs on the front but in an upcoming update they'll be able to route those auxes wherever you like and when you click on the aux you can choose that and again we have a solo we have a mute for each of the auxes and we can also open a graphic EQ for to the Oxus in addition to that we have a regular parametric EQ for each ox and we also have our gate and our compressor we have the main stereo output which we can select by clicking here when we click on that we can access a graphic EQ and we also have the gate the compressor and the parametric EQ for the main outputs as well for communication with the stage you can use the talkback feature click on the talkback button and you can route one of the inputs to any number of the oxes that you want to use we have 4 FX processors inside the StudioLive RM 32 ai we can select those and then edit the effects you can choose the different types we have two different processors that will provide ambience and reverb type effects and then we have two processors that provide delay effects now those effects processors also have their own dynamic section with a gate and a compressor and their own parametric EQ one of the great things about a digital mixing console is that you can save preset scenes and mute groups very easily and you can recall those two instantly set your mixer back up here's how it works on the RM 32 simply select a track click on the preset menu here that will open up and you have a whole array of different presets that you can load up that instantly configure the channel for whatever that input source is that you're choosing so for example here we've got kick selected we could also choose vocals we could choose electric guitar overheads upright bass so any number of different presets are included and you can create your own user presets as well now for overall preset storage we have scenes so we have eight different scenes that we can quickly store and recall and those store the configuration for the entire console we also have eight different mute groups so if you want to be able to quickly turn a set of channels on and off using mute control you can do that using those mute groups the universal control app also gives a complete visual feedback of what's happening inside the rme 32 so the software mixer has complete metering that shows you what's going on inside the digital console with the StudioLive RM 32 ai you've really got a full-featured digital console inside this rack box now the nice thing about that is that you have a media control over all of the parameters using your computer you can just reach out with a touch screen like this grab whatever parameters you want with an iOS device it's very similar and if you're on a regular computer you can just use a mouse to access those parameters now one of the new features in the studio live a icons from Presonus is that you can cascade those mixers together and with the RM 32 that allows you to use this box as a stage expansion box while you have a desktop StudioLive AI console back at the mixing position when you hook up the software it'll see it as one large single console we're really excited about the new Studio Live RM 32 ai consoles from Presonus with this digital console you have all the features all the benefits and all the sound quality of the StudioLive AI in a compact portable rackmount format you can use it as an expansion for an existing desktop StudioLive AI use it on its own control from a computer from an iOS device it's super convenient super easy to use and it sounds great I'm Mitch Gallagher thanks for joining me for the Sweetwater
5. NAMM 2019 Radial KL-8 Rackmount Keyboard Mixer
hi I'm J Porter product manager for radial engineering here at the 2019 NAMM show and one of the new things we've got here is the kl8 which is a rack mount keyboard mixer so built specifically for live touring or studio keyboard players people who have large rigs lots of keyboards a nice way to patch in so we have four input channels one through four mono or stereo stereo inputs from the keys each with its own level control and then we also have USB inputs so USB also has its own level control and come around to the big image here see there's dual USB inputs so you can actually switch back and forth between two computers really handy for someone that's maybe has a backup rig for mainstage or soft synths or someone might just want to have two different soft synths loaded up they can switch back and forth between computers really easily switching can be done on the front panel or via footswitch locking five pin power supply midi i/o for switching mainotes and monitor outs XLR both with transformer isolation and then you have an aux send and receive for effects volume pedal anything that you want to patch in some people will bring in a click track or something like that to go into the aux send so you can actually change the aux send from both mains and monitors to only being in the monitors and headphones so just the keyboard player will here it does have that headphone mixer built in separate volume control and mono switches for main and monitor outputs and last but not least you can actually link these together so if you've got to set up more keyboards than just four pieces you can get four eight twelve just with the TRS cable you can link multiple KL eights together so kl8 we're just starting to build them and ship them now so brand-new from radial engineering here the NEM show
6. PreSonus StudioLive RM16AI Rackmount Digital Mixer Review | Full Compass
hello everybody I'm Robert Bentley from the full Compass rental department I'm here to give you an exclusive look at the newest product from Presonus the rack mixer ai the rack mixer is an entire 32 channel 16 aux 3 main bus mixer all in this rack right here it comes in two flavors the RM 32 AI and the RM 16 AI the only difference between the two being the physical in and outs of the preamp mic pries the additional sources on the RM 16 AI come in via the network or firewire the mixer includes an option card which ships with two firewire 800 ports a network and a speed if output eventually there they will also offer a Dante and AV B option card this mixer features Presonus --is xmax preamps that are fully recallable the outputs are set up as aux mixes and the back of the unit the outputs are mirrored on the D sub the mixer has two main mix buses as well as a separate mono mix that can be set up as either a separate mono or the center channel in a left center right configuration to allow true panning there's also no fan on the unit making it completely silent on the front panel here there's a meter bridge that has the three color LED indicator green showing that there signal present and then red will show that it's clipping when you press the meter 48 button here what that does is switch these LED indicators to show which channels have phantom power on indicated by yellow if you push it again the meters come back it also has a mute all button that if you press will mute all inputs and outputs saving any of your connected equipment or in case of emergency next to the mute all button is a headphone out and it has to source buttons the main which mirrors the main output of the console and the cue button which defaults to the solo bus but can be set to any of your aux ends as well next to the headphone out is the tape in which is on RCA and then you have your mono and your main buses with their respective trim pots on the 32 channel rack there is also a talkback input on the 16 channel rack you can just set one of your ends to be the talkback so that's really all there is to the hardware but what makes this product really cool is the software as far as connectivity is concerned the mixer has the network port on the back which I've connected into a router which is then connected to our control surface but the unit also ships with a wireless dongle via USB that you can connect so you can connect completely wirelessly to the control surface if you desire that so that's about it for the hardware let's take a closer look at the software so what Presonus did was they took their current software that they offer for their StudioLive AI mixers and completely overhauled it because there's no hardware options to control this mixer it's extremely important that the software interface is user-friendly what they came up with is the new UC surface software what's great about this software is that it's completely platform agnostic which means that no matter which platform you're running whether it be Mac Windows or iPad you will retain full functionality of the software today I have it set up on a Windows 8 computer and a dual touch monitor but this software will support full windows 8 multi-touch so right here is your channel overview section and something really cool that they integrated was metering directly under each fader so you can see what's going on at any given time on the bottom here is a meter bridge and that will give you a quick view of any channel no matter where you're located in the mixer it also has a window that you can use to to show where you are in the channel overview section across the top is the same fat channel as the StudioLive AI mixers you have a gate a compressor an EQ and then you also have a B select so you can set up two different settings for each channel off to the left hand side is a channel overview section to show you if you have your phantom and your polarity you also control the preamp here now with this mixer being completely software based you don't have to think of using knobs and switches so what Presonus is done has given you more information for all the parameters on the console each parameter in the fat channel has a name a meter and a numeric value all you need to do to adjust a parameter is press adjust it and release and the bar goes away on the far right hand side you have your mixed select area simply select your aux or your main here you have your Flex fader which will change depending on which mix you've selected the aux is also have a meter built into the button so you can quickly see their levels no matter what screen you're in you can also select your effects here and above the Flex fader you have your effects edit you press that in this window opens and you can edit your effect there when you have selected an aux end or the mains above the Flex fader is your graphic EQ that you can press and edit and you can draw to edit or select individual frequencies on the far right of the mix select area you have your main left and right and your mono faders these faders never change no matter what screen you're in above the mono you have your talkback button which you can adjust depending on what aux you want it to reside in you also have your scenes button and your mute button you can use this for a quick recall of your mute groups or your scenes will repress your Settings button here it brings up all of your scenes you can also filter when you're recalling a scene if you want your effects your faders your graphic EQ what you want to recall from that scene in this screen you also have more access in your fat channel here simply press the Settings button there and that brings up your fat channel presets one new addition to this is the audition mode simply press audition mode and select a preset and it will quickly load that preset so you can hear what it's going to sound like set the preset find the preset you want but you want to adjust a little adjust it and then load it in it'll load with the adjustments you've made Presonus has also made it extremely easy to set up your mixer with the channel information section simply select the channel information section and you can set an icon for each channel you can also rename the channel here what's nice about this functionality is not only does it label your channel it also creates additional information in your scene for recall purposes when you want to recall just your drums it will recall all items that you've labeled a drum same goes for guitars or keyboards any instrument that you have selected can be recalled by instrument category now because this mixer is completely software based when they want to make an update at a feature or change the workflow all they have to do is release a firmware update so the mixer will evolve as time goes on to become more and more powerful you can also use this mixer with the cue mix software to allow other users to mix their own auxins lastly this mixer can expand almost limitlessly throw in a dante card into the rack and into your StudioLive AI mixer and you have a digital stage box but the rack mixer can still be mixed independently through the user control software also don't worry this software will be compatible and available to all studio live ai mixer owners allowing you to control all the functions of your StudioLive mixer right from the software the software is free and is included with the purchase of the mixer to learn more about this or any other Presonus product please visit full compass com or contact your full compass sales representative
7. Mackie DL32R Digital Rackmount Mixer Review – The Sweetwater Minute, Vol. 260
hi i'm mitch gallagher welcome to the sweetwater minute this time out a new ipad control digital mixer from mackie let's get started this is the brand new dl32r from mackie a 32 by 32 digital mixer that's controllable from ipad now mackie's been making other ipad controllable digital mixers as well you may be familiar with the dl806 a smaller format a tabletop format digital mixer the dl32r is obviously a rackmount mixer and it's designed for larger stage performances for installation into auditoriums it can be used in house of worship but has a couple of very cool features one of which is you can record all the inputs onto a hard drive that's connected directly to the unit you can also take the dl32r into your studio and use it as a recording interface with your computer system let's dig a little deeper into some of the details on the dl32r we've got 32 inputs on the front panel those are all on xlrs and those each have a microphone preamp and those are remote controllable from your ipad we've also got 14 outputs now those are freely assignable but they're set up by default to be a set of stereo outputs and then 12 individual outputs as well we've got an aes ebu digital format stereo output a pair of monitor outputs and we also have a headphone output with their own volume level on the front panel around back we just have basic connections for hooking in our wireless router for connecting a hard drive or hooking up to your computer but we do have this very cool design where we've got a shelf built into the top of the unit that allows you to place your router and a hard drive right on top and they've even provided mounting straps for holding those units in place so that's a tour of basically how you interface with the dl32r now of course there's more to the console than that inside this chassis we also have the brains of the unit it provides all the dsp processing everything that takes care of the mixing the effects and everything else that the console can do now all of that is remote controllable from your ipad using mackie's master fader app now the master fader app is very easy to use it's graphically designed so that it's easy to understand what's happening and it's very easy to navigate as well on this screen we have basically an overview of all the channels we can scroll through all of those we have our 32 input channels here each can be given an icon each can be given a name we can solo each channel we can mute each channel and we have a fader for controlling its level as well the master fader app offers us total control over each channel's capabilities so in addition to the mute solo and fader at the top here we also have a section that allows us to do a variety of other things as well the first screen that we come to gives us control over the aux sends here in this section we've got 14 auxes available here we can set the levels for those and then we have three sends two of which are feeding internal reverbs and one is feeding an internal delay we'll look more at those reverbs in the delay later but this is where you send signal from each channel into those we can mute each of the aux sends here and here's where we actually make our assignments so we can assign to the main outs to any of the sub outs we have vca groups mute groups we can set up other routings to subs so we have a lot of flexibility for routing each channel to any destinations we want the top section here is where we set the source that's feeding into each channel the way it's set up right now is it's assigned to usb that means that the signal is coming from the hard drive that i have connected to the dl32r if you were in your studio that would be the signal returning from your daw software now if we switch the setting for the input here to the a position now we're accessing what's coming into the front panel of the dl32r that's where our mic preamps are located we've got control over the gain we've got a trim control we've got phantom power on and off and we also have polarity reverse so you have full control over the signal that's coming in via microphone into the dl32r so this screen is really where we're doing a lot of the channel routing we're setting our input we're setting our output and we're feeding our signal into our auxes our next screen gives us access to the equalizer we have a four band parametric eq with a high pass filter and you can adjust that by simply dragging or you can move each of the parameters as well very fast and easy to operate now the equalizer actually has two different modes we're looking at it in modern view here where we have those four parametric eq bands and the high pass filter if we switch to the vintage view then we get a three band parametric eq with a high pass filter a little bit different algorithm is being used for the eq there so you can really tailor each channel to the equalization style that you want scrolling up next we come to the dynamics section we've got a gate and we've got a compressor and again those have modern and they have vintage modes so we can change those in any combination that we want on any of the channels we're just changing for this channel we're not changing all the other channels so you can independently assign those different modes on each of the channels now we have a lot of control here you've got attack time you've got release time threshold settings hold settings for the gate and under the compressor we have attack release ratio we've got threshold gain controls so you really have all the controls you need for compressing and gating your signal however you like if we scroll up again we'll get our effects we have two different reverb processors inside the dl-32r and we also have a delay processor now the reverbs offer a variety of different modes each of which is represented by an icon so we've got ambience we can change that to a plate reverb we also have a cathedral we have a hall so whatever type of reverb you want you can pull it up here in the dl-32r and then we have control over the parameters as well pre-delay dampening decay roll-off you can set the amount of send for each channel so you have a lot of control over each of those two reverbs down here on the delay we have a variety of different modes for that as well we've got tape echo we've got a mono echo ping pong echo multi-tap delays control over the parameters and we also have a tap tempo for the delay here we can set up our send amount and there is a meter for each of those as well when we're finished with our settings for the channel we just click here to return to back to our mixer view and again we can access all the channels very simply very easily here now when we tap on this icon up here in the way upper left that will take us to an overview of what's happening inside the console we've got a fader and we've got a meter for each of those functions so here we've got our auxes here we've got our effects we've got our inputs we've got our master output up here so everything can be viewed very quickly and very easily now from this screen we can instantly jump to any of the input channels any of the auxes any of the subs the master outs by just tapping on one of these faders so if we tap on a channel it brings us to all the settings for that particular channel now we can go back here to our overview screen we can look at the main outputs you can see the different assignments the vcas the mute groups that are there for the main outputs we can jump over here and look at the send for one of the effects devices so we've got our fader for that and we've got our mute group for that as well so a lot of control is instantly under your fingertips in that overview page we really have a fully featured mixer with the dl32r under ipad control we've got 36 inputs that's a combination of 32 hardware inputs those are stereo linkable for stereo signals and we have four returns that are also stereo linkable for bringing your effects or other signals back in from an output standpoint we have 28 output buses and we have 14 stereo linkable aux sends we've also got our master left right outputs we have six vcas six mute groups six stereo linkable matrix buses and six stereo linkable subgroups as well you have full i o capability for routing any of the signals that are coming in whether it's from the front panel or from usb to any of those sources so you have a lot of routing capability all freely assignable here now all the routing is set up using a screen here we'll tap on that to open it and this shows us all the inputs and all the outputs we can scroll through those and we can freely assign those wherever we like we have two sets of inputs we have from our usb and then from the front panel we also have our output routing here and you can see that you can route more than one signal to those we also have built-in talkback capability and we can route that talkback mic here to any of these outputs now for controlling all those extra functions like the mute groups the vcas the subgroups and the matrix you simply click over here you can choose what mix you're looking at we're looking at drums here guitars so we can have sub mixes we can look at the left right we can look at our vcas here's our base vca we can come back over here we can look at mute groups so here you can see the different mute groups that we have so it's very easy to instantly jump to those and call up exactly what you want to look at here we've got a subgroup for drums for example notice that when you select one of these functions whether it's a subgroup a mute group vca whatever it might be the channels that are affected by that pop up instantly on the left side of the screen now one other thing we should talk about here and that's that not only do we have all of this dsp capability in all the input channels we also have it on all those buses the master outs etc so we've got our parametric eq here we can have an in vintage or modern mode we have our a compressor here we have a routing matrix and if you're on the master output we also have a graphic eq so let's jump back over here we'll open that up you can see the graphic eq is here and we can look at that with everything on one screen it's a 32 band eq we can do it at double width where you see half of it and you can scroll through the different settings you can draw settings very quickly and very easily we can easily reset and we also can store presets for the graphic eq and you can recall those instantly so if you're playing the same venue multiple times you can store a preset for that venue next time you show up just recall the preset you're ready to go alright so let's close this up we'll go back to our channel view we also have quick access to some of our master controls so if we click here we can clear solos instantly so if there's a track solo that's not on the screen you need to figure out where it is you can just quickly hit clear solo and it'll clear all the solos on all the channels we can mute our two reverbs we can mute our delay we've got tap tempo for the delay here and we also can access our talkback mic so just clicking on that turns on the talkback mic now one other great feature of the dl32r is it's also a recorder if we connect a hard drive by usb to the unit itself we can record directly into it we just hit the record button here that'll open up a screen shows us what we're recording we're doing multi-channel playback now we've got this set up for 24 track recording in the next version of software that comes out we're expecting to see 32 track recording enabled so when you connect a hard drive you'll be able to record 32 simultaneous tracks as well as playback 32 simultaneous tracks now you can also use the dl-32r for music playback so if you want to play break music when your band's not on stage you can do that from this screen here as well another benefit of the onboard recording and playback capability is virtual sound check just record your band as a multi-track recording onto the hard drive when you go into a venue play that recording back use it to dial in all your settings on your pa system and on the console then when the band takes the stage for a sound check you're basically ready to go all you have to do is just finally tweak any details that might need to be adjusted now when the system is on stage you have some other benefits as well you don't need a snake because you can place this right on stage with you and plug your microphone straight into it connected into your pa system so you're saving all of that wire run you don't need a front of house position because you control everything from your ipad whether you're on stage or out in the audience so your sound man can be out hearing exactly what it sounds like in the room or you can be controlling it from on stage now you can connect actually up to 10 different ios devices at once i've got two ipad airs connected here they're both fully functional and each can take control you can lock out certain functions so if you only want certain people to be able to access certain mixes you can set it up that way and each performer can have control over their own monitor mix so you can have those 10 ipads or iphones hooked up everybody can control their monitor mix you can have your sound man out in the hall or be running things from on stage it's all wireless very flexible very simple really is a powerful system i hope you've enjoyed this look at the mackie dl32r digital mixer it's a very easy mixer to get around on but it offers so much capability having that 32 by 32 recording capability 32 built-in microphone pre-amps all of that routing really is a flexible and powerful mixer thanks for joining me for the sweetwater minute i'm mitch gallagher
8. Behringer X32 Rack Digital Rack Mixer Demo – Sweetwater Sound
hi I'm John Dean Nicola a product specialist with behringer and I'm here at Sweetwater today to talk about the x32 rack the most exciting thing about the x32 rack is that it brings the power of a fully capable 32 channel X 32 digital mixer into a three rack space form factor so it's incredibly portable if it still packs all the power that you need for a full digital mixer in a rack mount form so taking a look at the front of the x32 rack you can see that we have a screen and we have controls so the x32 rack can be completely controlled from the front face of the unit you can see that you can select the channel here with the select knob and you can use these this knob here as a fader we have access to all of the different menus by going home and we have six encoders beat the screen just like on the full-size X 32 so I can cycle through the channel strip on the X 32 rack just like on the full X 32 we have a full channel strip featuring gate dynamics parametric EQ we have 16 mix buses and we also have a fully featured effects processor in here which we can access with the effects button it's an 8 space stereo effects processor with about 35 or more reverbs it's graphic EQs different kinds of plugins you can use in here and again you can access all of this from the front of the unit on the back of the x32 rack we have fully featured io including 16 midas designed mic preamps we also have 8 XLR outputs in addition to that 4 analog i/o we have six quarter inch balanced TRS inputs and outputs so all those outputs the eight XLR and the six quarter-inch are all completely assignable to any source on the x32 rack so it can be a direct out a mix bus output or your main outputs so although we can control the x32 rack from the front face ideally we'd be using our applications what you see here is our X 32 mix iPad app in addition to X 32 mix we also have X 32 edit which is a fully-featured offline and online editor for PC Mac and Linux but focusing on the iPad app here x32 mix and this is a free download in the Apple Store we have complete control over the x32 rack just as we do with the rest of the x32 family so you're looking at the home screen of x32 mix here where you have all of your faders and you can access your various channels we're looking at channels 1 through 8 but I can page through to the other channels here including all of your effects returns and your main mixes but then we also can dig deeper in here looking at the detail tab we have a fully basically the whole channel strip that you just saw on the x32 rack we have access to here so we can do our mic preamp gain the gate the dynamics the EQ it's all right here even naming our channel strips so you have the whole channel ship available moving on down we cannot do all of the effects editing you can see there's a tab for each of the 8 effects processors so if I'm using a graphic EQ I have access to that here I also can change any of the different reverb plugins I'm using so that's all included as well also on the iPad that we can go through and we have complete scene management the x32 rack has a hundred scenes on board that you can save when those are complete snapshots of your mix including effects and fader levels and everything like that and you can work on that right here on the scenes menu saving and loading scenes we have a some various meter pages which are also available on the front face of the rack we have access to the USB recorder all x32 consoles including the x32 rack have a USB recorder on the front which will allow you to do a stereo recording of either your main mix or any actually any two sources in the console that you choose that USB Drive is also used for playback if you'd like and you can also use that to save load presets and even for firmware updates which are coming which are available for free from time to time from behringer moving on we can even go to the routing tab here we can fully set up the routing on the x32 racks this is a good time to mention that the x32 rack is a fully featured 32 channel 40 input mixer so I mentioned you have 16 XLR S on the back so your other channels are good likely be coming from the S 16 stage box which provides an additional 16 microphone inputs so from this routing menu you can go to the home screen and you can determine what inputs you're going to be using right now I'm actually using the card inputs the x32 rack also ships with a a 32 by 32 channel USB recording card so you can also use that for playback it's great for virtual soundcheck applications so right now I have my card channels set up for playback but if I wanted to use the local mic preamps I could choose those here I can choose AAS 50 for the s 16 digital snake and I can mix and match my 32 inputs here from the routing menu from the additional pages I can configure the various outputs the analog outputs the card outputs outputs for the P 16 personal monitoring system which is also included on this we have a port for the where you can plug your P 16 M mixers into the back of the X 32 rack and you'd be good to go for personal monitoring moving on down we even have a tab for monitor so you can set up your soloing and your talkback right from the iPad and then of course we have a setup and configuration tab on here as well so as you can see we have a fully featured control on X 32 mix and again we also have options available for the PC Mac and Linux platforms how that works is that you basically take a wireless router plug it right into the back of the x32 rack and then you can connect over Wi-Fi at the same time you can also plug a computer directly into the x32 rack or directly into the X a wireless router that you're using and that would give you a good solid hardwired connection just in case you're at a bad Wi-Fi area or whatnot the nice thing is that you can use multiple applications at once to control the x32 rack so I can have my computer sitting right next to it and I could have multiple iPads connected and I could have musicians onstage mixing their own monitor mixes with the x32 q mix app which is nice because it will run on iPhone as well as iPad and it's a little bit more restrictive only allowing control of the mixed buses so a lot of different ways you can control the exerted to Iraq and again even if you're not using any of the apps you have full control from the front phase so again remember you have a complete x32 digital mixer in a three space where act with analog i/o and all the digital connectivity that includes the AlterNet connection for p16 the as50 connectivity for connecting these digital stage boxes or for connecting to another x32 for a split maybe you want to use this as a monitor console you have your 32 channel recording card and all the processing of the rest of the x32 family right here in the x32 racks three Rackspace warm back there so just to wrap it up if you would like some more information on the x32 rack contact your Sweetwater sales in
9. PreSonus The Concept of the StudioLive RM Series Rackmount Mixers
hi I'm ray Tansen I'm the product manager for the our mixers here at personas when we first conceived of the RAC mixer concept we didn't want to just make a rack mixer we wanted to change the way people work with mixers and change the world of a digital mixing system as we went through and visited customers in their locations consistently there were issues that they were trying to overcome with the cost complexity of analog snake cables so when you have a front of house position that's a hundred feet away from your stage you have a huge heavy analog snake cable that you've got to carry around with you we actually made the mix or the stage box you don't have the weight and you don't have the cost that go along with a large loom of analog copper cables of course a good mixer has to sound good so one of the major focuses we had on the RM mixers with the quality of the sound and that starts with the preamps we took our xmax preamps which are renowned for their amazing sound quality and we made them completely recallable then coming out of the mixer we have all electrically impedance balanced outputs ensuring you've got the best quality coming from your mixer to your speakers no seriously leprosy you another problem that we saw when we went out to visit customers and spoke with people is that a lot of situations these days don't have an ideal location for your front-of-house mixer and with the RM mixers there is no need for a traditional front-of-house location if you have an ideal situation you can set up a nice large touchscreen computer there but you can also move around anywhere in the venue with wireless control and over the last five years of using this in millions of venues we have learned a lot and we put that into an all-new design the all-new UC surface software is a new workflow and a new layout designed specifically to be battle ready for live mixing but it's built on our platform that is tried and true that we've been using for years with our studio live mixers this multi platform software allows you to work with the mixer the way you want to work whether it's on an iPad on a Mac or Windows computer or on a large touchscreen surface and thanks to these options with the different platforms you always have the availability of going with a hard wired Ethernet connection for control you can always have that fallback and the reliability and confidence that you're going to have a secure connection to your mixer at all times one of the newest and most exciting features that we've just added to the UC surface software is something we call filter DCA s this concept of DCA's view groups layers control groups all into one uniquely personas workflow that's going to change the way that you navigate and control your mix with filter DCA s you can create an unlimited number of DCA's we're really excited about this feature and we know you're gonna love it and it's going to completely change your workflow in a way you could never imagine the future of RM mixers and UC surface is endless starting with the option cards you can swap out the card to get newer technology and newer capabilities because it's a black box mixer and software control we can add and enhance all the features and workflows over time and something unique for personas is we've got cascading so you start with a thirty-two channel mixer and as your needs grow you can just add another mixer so you cascade to thirty-two channel mixers together and now you have a sixty-four channel digital mixed system that's something that nobody else can offer you're gonna love the new personas RM mixers is the most powerful flexible and easy to use mixing system on the market and it doesn't end there it's going to scale and we're gonna be adding new features and new options all the time a networked mix core system like the RM mixers is going to change the way you think of digital mixers
10. PreSonus StudioLive 32R and 24R Rackmount Digital Mixers Overview | Full Compass
hi I'm Rick Naqvi with Presonus audio and I'm here at full compass showing the series three rack mixers now these are the two StudioLive 24 are and StudioLive 32 are they are both 32 channel rack mixers under the hood so the main difference between them is obviously on the front panel they look almost identical you've got 24 fully recallable xmax mic preamps and these are dual moisture combo connectors so they also have direct line inputs on the front panel you've got a mute all button right here that automatically mutes all of the channels you got a headphone monitor right here and you also have an SD recorder that does a stereo SD recording now let's take a look at the back so you can see the main difference between the 24 R and the 32 R is the fact that on the 24 R of course you have 12 mix outputs a main output and then of course you've got RCA inputs here tape in for the iPod or whatever on the 32 R you've got an additional 8 channels of xmx mic preamps Plus these are also the same dual moisture combo connectors so you have line inputs on each of these and then you have 16 flex outputs right here and the main outputs right here now both of these feature locking ether con network audio connector as well as a regular Ethernet control for going straight to your router and a USB connection there's really two main applications for this product so if you let's say or looking for a really portable but powerful digital mixer in Iraq these are amazing 24 and 32 simultaneous inputs with 12 mix outputs or 16 mix outputs in only 2 rack spaces so it's very very compact you can throw it in a rack you can have you know any other rack gear in that same rack like wireless transmitters that kind of a thing go to the gig have your wireless router in that same rack and it's a very compact system another benefit of these rack mixers is the that you can also use them as stage boxes for the new series three console mixer so if you have a series three StudioLive 24 32 or 16 any of these will work as a stage box for those you can also use them as monitor mix stage boxes where you have separate auxes and separate fat channel control if you want to learn more about studio live console mixers or rack mixers go to full campus comm or contact your sales pro today thank you
