A demo in the Tech Central space at PCMA Convening Leaders 2017 in January showcased technology developed by VNTANA, a Los Angeles–based augmented-reality company. The technology, which the company calls Hollagram, combines holographic objects with gesture control — in this case, attendees could bat virtual cherry blossoms around a screen. The use of holograms at events has had its peaks and troughs over the past few years, skyrocketing to international prominence with the brilliant, or morally questionable, resurrection of Tupac Shakur at the 2012 Coachella Festival. Ethical debates aside, the impact of utilising holographic technology is unquestionable; it’s exciting, engaging and nowhere near ubiquity yet, so therefore definitely not yesterday’s news.

Fans at the 17th annual Day of the Dead event at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, were witnesses to a hologram of the late singer Jenni Rivera.
According to Billboard, Juan Rivera, Jenni’s younger brother, took the stage to reveal the hologram. He nervously introduced his sister, who became the first regional Mexican singer and Latin artist to have a hologram.
The 17th annual Day of the Dead event at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery set the stage for the epic and historical return of the late singer Jenni Riverawho, via hologram, was able to perform once again for her fans and family on Saturday night (Oct. 29).
