Ooma works great at my first location. Easy Setup! Second location with Comcast NOT SO MUCH!Ooma worked great at my first location. Setup was easy and quick. Setting up Ooma at my second location with Comcast NOT SO GOOD! Hint -When you call Ooma by phone select ‘sales’ on their menu otherwise you will wait forever for ‘Customer Service/TECH Support. I worked with level 1 and level 2 Ooma support to try and solve an issue connecting through my Xfinity/Comcast modem. After several hours on the phone with Ooma they finally figure out some of the ports within a Comcast modem need to be open for their data to pass through to Ooma. I finally gave up trying to connect through Comcast. Even though I could probably log into my modem to open the required ports I was now tired of trying. If you rent a modem from Comcast their tech support has to open the required ports on their modem. You think Ooma support could come up with the solution immediately when you mentioned Comcast/Xfinity is your service provider. Since it took so long to figure out the problem with Ooma Tech Support I finally gave up. I was not about to spend more time with Comcast support to get a phone line. I then tried to cancel my second account with Ooma. Huge language barrier there! I supposedly got my second account cancelled with Ooma but not confident! I then logged into my credit card account and put disputes on the related charges from my second account with Ooma. Hoping all goes good from here on.

So far, so decentSet up was pretty easy following the quick start manual. Troubleshooting a phone display issue via the provided manual – not so much. I can dim the display of each handset so that it doesn’t look like a bright nightlight when sitting it it’s charging cradle, but each of these three Ooma handset displays stay illuminated all the time, in or out of the cradle. The screen of any cordless handset I previously have owned would eventually go dark once returned to its cradle. I’m hoping this does not affect battery life.Sound quality and ring loudness are very good. I run this Ooma Telo service through my Google system and have not experienced any problems while my household is watching streaming services and working on a laptop or surfing on an iPad at the same time. I’m content with the purchase but I’d be happier if the handset displays would go dark when charging.

Sound quality of HD3 handsets is horrible.I bought these phones as a backup for when my Cell phones were having a problem in the house. The sound quality of the HD3 handset is as bad as it gets. Absolute garbage. I’ve only had the phones for 2 weeks and decided to put up with the horrible handsets as I planned on using my cell phones most of the time. Yesterday the handset kind of froze and the buttons just ran me around in circles and did not even allow me to make a phone call. It was not the base unit, or the internet, it was the handset. I try not to return things but, these are going back to Amazon. I may buy the base unit in the future and plug a Panasonic handset directly into the base unit which I’m told I can do.

Bye-bye big landline phone billWe were promised a package rate by our big-name phone provider for landline, internet, and cell phone. We decided to buy a new router/modem to improve our internet service at the house and felt that since the price was the same for one from a retail store and one from the provider’s store we’d go with the one from the provider, imagining it is optimized for use on their service. We spoke with them beforehand and when we picked it up at the store and were assured there were not changes that would occur on our package because we were buying the router/modem outright, not leasing or making payments. Of course that did not turn out to be the case and we found ourselves having to argue with them every month to get the $25 increase refunded. There are no acceptable alternatives for service where we live so it was aggravating and frustrating. We have another residence where we don’t have landline service but needed to send some faxes (how archaic, yes I know) so we bought an Ooma based on the recommendation of folks we know who do call center work from home and praise Ooma. It’s like a one-time investment and very small yearly fee thereafter. What we’re paying there for Ooma is less than we were paying a month for the landline service in our other home. At first my spouse (who is much more into the tech things than I am) was skeptical. But once we got the set he saw how quick and simple it was to set up and the user experience was no different than the landline user experience at our other home. He became a fan!Such a fan, in fact, that we invested in this package, with multiple handsets for our residence with the existing landline. To heck with you, big service provider. Yes, we do still pay them for internet (again, no alternative where that home is located) but we now pay a much smaller monthly fee (for an upgraded service level) than we did when we were fighting for the credit every month.I like the way the buttons are arranged on the handsets, they’re placed intuitively for bringing up the menu, redialing a number from the call history, etc. The battery life is good and the sound volume and quality is perfect. The handsets are light, the cords for the bases are a good length. The equipment is stylish and blends in with our decor.Would I buy this again? As I said above, we already have purchased a second set for a second residence. Highly recommend Ooma for the monthly service cost savings and for the quality of the devices.

Nice to have this for homeAs part of my separation, I had to have a “landline” to have my kids visit. We agreed that VOIP was as good as landline, allowing me this service. Plugs into internet gateway and boots up first time quickly. Instructions were clear. The phones work great and have clear sound. I have one in the master bedroom where the OOMA base is, one in the great room (about 20′ from base) and one in lower level (down a flight and about 20′ from base), and all work fine.Issue I had was when my internet rebooted and I could not get the OOMA base unit to reboot. I chatted with their tech support who then told me to call the over the phone tech support. Took a long time and was very unclear, so took longer than needed. Overall a very good value upfront with low monthly costs going forward so happy with this.

If you’re getting the Ooma Telo and don’t have a phone already, get this kit!We recently switched over to Ooma Telo for our phone service to save some money. We also had some older clunky cordless phones that needed replacing. It ended up being cheaper for us to get this kit with the HD3 handsets included than buying another branded cordless phone separately. In comparison to our other cordless phone, these HD3 handsets don’t sound as clear but the seamless integration with the Telo unit is worth it. I like how you can adjust the individual settings on each handset including illumination and sounds. Our home is roughly 1,800 square feet and the HD3 handsets all seem to stay connected well around our home. Our Telo unit is not centralized and is placed in one of end of our home. All in all if you’re making the switch to VOIP and Ooma, I’d recommend this kit.

Glitchy handset firmware and Godawful 3rd world tech supportI own an Ooma Telo with three HD3 handsets, and have had no issues. I convinced a friend of mine to order the same system, which he did through Amazon. It shipped during November 2022, which apparently was a terrible month for handset firmware. The displays on all 3 handsets will not turn off, draining the batteries rapidly. They are all set to turn off after 30 seconds, but do not. Mine work fine, but my friends do not. I Googled it, and there is a Reddit thread about 13 posts long with people having the exact same issue with handsets with firmware version 744.1. They all shipped around black friday. A call to tech support was a waste of time. Typical dumb questions asked by a person that can barely speak English. They escalated the issue to advanced support, of which those people never called the callback number I gave them. Also, the new unit my friend had would not connect initially. I had to reset it a couple times, and then it worked intermittently and rebooted on it’s own like 3 times. I assume it was self-installing new firmware or something. It seems to work fine now, other than all 3 handsets are lit up 24×7, on or off the base. Audio quality is quite good, depending on your internet connection. A basic DSL connection is plenty good enough. If you are not tech savvy, I would either stay away, or have a friend help you set it up. Otherwise, the service works well, and will cost you only around $6/month for the taxes and fees (or add $10/month for their premier service, which gives you more spam blocking and remote access capabilities).Update 12/13/2022: After two very long calls to advanced technical support, and Ooma having no clue what the problem is or how to fix it (even though I have told them it is clearly a firmware issue), they said and engineer would call me back. No one ever did, either time. The issue persists. No support or help from Ooma whatsoever. Therefore, if you are one of the lucky people that get handsets in which the bright display does not shut off (regardless of time out settings), then your best course of action is to just return the entire system as non-functional. The problem with this is that it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to cancel your service, and it is impossible to remove the credit card you put on file. Therefore, to avoid a 2 hour call with them like I did, just cancel your credit card and be done with it that way. They will get the hint…eventually.Update 12/27/2022: After never getting a call from their “engineer”, I called customer service back. After 30 minutes of hold time, they looked up the case number, and it had been closed with no resolution. What terrible technical support and customer service.
