XENYX USB Series mixers are designed to handle your live gigs, and they provide the state-of-the-art tools you need to make stunning, professional-quality recordings. Along with their built-in USB/audio interfaces, XENYX USB mixers come with all the recording and editing software you’ll need to turn your computer system into a complete, high-performance home recording studio. Sonically Superior Mic Preamps All XENYX mixers have one thing in common – great-sounding, high headroom XENYX mic preamps. These state-of-the-art mic pres represent a major step in the evolution of audio technology – and they can easily hold their own, even when compared to the most expensive stand-alone mic preamps. XENYX preamps offer a staggering 130 dB of dynamic range, with a bandwidth that extends from below 10 Hz to well above 200 kHz. Armed with these outstanding mic preamps, XENYX mixers provide such transparent, crystal-clear performance you just might think someone upgraded your mics while you weren’t looking. Sublimely Musical British EQ The British consoles of the 1960s and ’70s changed the sound of rock and roll – without them the British Invasion might not have happened. Those legendary mixing desks soon became the envy of engineers and producers all over the world. The channel EQ on our XENYX mixers is based on that very same circuitry, allowing you to imbue signals with incredible warmth and detailed musical character. Even when applied generously, these equalizers exhibit sweet forgiveness and superb audio quality. One-Knob Compression Ask professional sound engineers what their favorite piece of external processing gear is and the majority response will be virtually unanimous – dynamic compression. What is compression? We’re glad you asked. Compression essentially limits the dynamic range of a signal, lowering the level of loud sounds and turning up softer sounds, to achieve sonic balance. But applying compression is a delicate art that many novice, and even intermediate, sound techs have great difficulty mastering. Our “one-knob” compression is available on all mono channels and is easy to operate, even for entry-level users. With this one knob, you can easily dial in the perfect amount of compression for instruments and vocals, creating powerful mixes with punch and clarity. This is indeed a rare feature for products in this class – but standard on all XENYX USB mixers. Effective FX All XENYX USB Series mixers (except the 1204USB) feature our new 24-bit dual engine FX processor, with 16 editable, studio-grade presets including reverb, chorus, flanger, delay, pitch shifter and multi-effects. Complete with a highly accurate input meter, these effects can be altered to your personal taste via the Parameter control. Time-based functions can be entered manually by pressing the Tap button in tempo with the music. Recording Bliss There was a time when the recording process called for lots and lots of expensive gear, which meant the average musician had to buy time at a recording studio – and that time was pricey indeed. But modern technology has put personal recording well within the reach of virtually anyone with access to a computer. How do you get all that music flying around your brain into your computer? That’s where XENYX USB mixers come in. Thanks to the built-in, bi-directional stereo USB audio interface, you can connect any of these mixers directly to your PC or Mac computer via a single USB cable. Now any signal source you connect to the mixer can be recorded directly to your hard drive. Which brings us to software. Free Would Be Nice! Because you’ll want to take full advantage of the XENYX USB Series mixers’ recording and podcasting potential, we’ve thrown in a massive software package that includes Audacity (the most popular open source audio editor), Podifier, Juice, Podnova and Golden Ear (a great selection of podcasting software). You’re ready to go live on your PC or Mac computer right out of the box! You also get more than 100 virtual instruments and 50 FX plug-ins, turning your computer into a complete home-based or mobile recording studio from input to output. Excellent Service from BehringerI don’t write many reviews, but I am compelled to write this one because I got excellent service from the manufacturer, which is a rare thing these days and Behringer deserves an acknowledgement in this case.I bought a Behringer Xenyx X1222USB a little under a year ago. It’s been working great for my application using it as the main board for live gigs with a small band (vocals, a couple of mics on amps for string instruments, keyboards in direct, a wind controller and an iPad via an Alesis IOdock for backing tracks). This whole time I hadn’t used the built in FX, as I’ve been using an external FX box. I finally got around to checking them out, auditioning all the presets and messing with the various parameters, when all of the sudden (about 15-20 min into this) I got this really loud rapidly repeating clicking sound that just masked everything else. The only way to make it stop was to shut down the unit. After powering back up, the mixer behaved just fine, as long as all the controls for the FX were in the minimum settings. As soon as I would bring the FX back in, the same thing would happen again within 15-20 min. I tested it several times and I made sure that all controls were in their nominal settings (i.e., I was sure I was not overloading the FX unit). Luckily this took place when I was in my home studio. I had gigs coning up the following 2 days so I convinced myself that this only happened when the FX processor was engaged. Sure enough, I did not have any problems at the gigs over the next 2 days and everything went fine (with the FX off). The following day, before calling Behringer, I did some research and found that many people have experienced similar problems with FX units on Behringer mixers going back a few years (although I didn’t find anything specifically for this model). Some people attributed the problem to cheap capacitors made in China (I can’t confirm this one way or the other) but frankly I was a bit disappointed that Behringer hadn’t addressed the issue on newer models, given the number of complains, although I have noticed that some models now use a different version on the FX processor (don’t know if these address the issue or not).In any case, I called Behringer and much to my surprise, I was talking to someone within a couple of minutes. The service person was very knowledgeable and asked a few pertinent questions and she quickly assessed that indeed it sounded like a faulty FX unit. She emailed the RMA while I was still on the phone and told me that they typically have a 10 business day turnaround. I sent it in on a Tuesday. UPS tracking said they had it on Thursday. By the following Thursday it was at my from door! I was really blown away. Everything seems to be working just fine. The only negative is that you have to pay for shipping to get the box the them. Once they determine that it’s indeed a warranty issue, they’ll fix it and ship it back to you for free. So be sure to save your box and packing materials, in case you have to send it in.Btw, it has a 1-yr warranty, but if you register it within 90 days, they extend it to 3 years. I had not registered it, but the Behringer rep told me it was covered for 3 years anyhow. You may want to register your unit just in case.

Nothing wrong with it, just two line out to PC; not my thing, but a good product. 3.5/5Apparently Joe Rogan uses this one, not something I knew at time of purchase, but that list of products he uses seems dated and also has some cheap $90 headphones on there. The only REAL issue I have with these is that this only does TWO LINE ins to the PC, meaning you have to do all the levels and mixing for mic users 3+ LIVE and on the fly. Where as some mixers (even from the same company, since I stepped up to them) allow for EVERY TRACK to be digitally represented. NOW, each has their set of benefits and disadvantages. PERSONALLY, I would rather do everything DIGITALLY, or go with MULTIPLE 2×2 devices and add them when I need to add people. I would say this is a pass, may be great for podcasting and at $250 you’re not breaking the bank with it, and getting quality at the same time. But since I’m not doing my stuff live and would have 4 guests on, I would rather be able to MIX all of those tracks individually for that added flexibility. HENCE why for double the price, I went with the X-AIR 18 and that has all the fun toys; 18 outputs to pc, all nice XLR quarter inch combo jacks and other creature comforts. Also Behringer does make a more pocket and podcast friendly option that is a 4×4 USB product, and I think that’s cheaper than this. SO… if you don’t mind mixing live and have a good enough ear to do that, the go with this, this will definitely offer better control and response time for leveling since it’s all analog, but if you’re like me and have a crap ear for that stuff that can’t do it live, and needs to sit with the tracks and study them, then I’d recommend something with at least 4×4 output, so you can isolate everyone on an individual track in post.

Very impressed.I had a Behringer 12 channel from years ago that didn’t have the effects but it finally started giving me issues. I needed to expand to a 16 channel anyway. I have to say, the affects on this are pretty cool and all the sliders and nobs feel really solid. Hoping to get many years use out of this.

Everything I Needed and Nothing I Didn’tMy friend and I started a podcast (called Oh Honey, coming out February 14th everywhere),and we had no idea what we were doing. I’ve never done anything with audio recording before, and I had to do a lot of research on exactly what we would need. We knew we wanted to be able to have guests, so we needed a mixer that would support at least 4 mics, and this was the most affordable and reasonable option that worked for us.IT COMES WITH everything you need to plug it into your computer and plug it into the wall for power. The USB cord is a few feet long, and so is the power cord. Both are standard and look high quality to me. The manual, which I read cover-to-cover, is very easy to read and understand. It’s only probably 20 pages, and half of them are diagrams showing where to plug in different components.THE MACHINE ITSELF is very user friendly, especially considering that I’ve never done anything with audio before. Because we needed guests to be able to hear themselves as well, I purchased a Behringer 4-Channel Stereo Headphone Amp, and that works really well for us. The knobs and controls are also high quality. I love having this thing on my desk because it looks SO legit. Within probably a half hour of unboxing, someone with no experience whatsoever with audio had everything plugged in and set up and working correctly. If I can do it, you can too.Overall, this product gave us everything we needed. It’s easy to use, isn’t too big or small, and works great!

Great For the PriceReally a versatile, nice sounding product. Didn’t want to review it until I used it for at least a couple of months . Some Behringer products can be iffy, but if you get a good one, it’s a good one. The preamps are clean, the build is robust and the output sound is very nice. I hook up a Centrance Mic Port Pro to the XLR output, and get great results at higher bit rates. The effects are adequate for the price, the compression is also better than I expected, although I try not to overuse either, because I use this for Voice Over.My only complaints are, the headphone output is a bit noisy and the low bit rate usb output, only 44k, 16 bit. But I don’t use them, since I output with a Centrance Mic Port Pro or the TSR outputs to a more robust processing unit, a dbx 286s.Back in the old days, I’m talking the late 70’s, this mixer would have cost way over a grand, without features and would not have sounded as clean, I know because I had an old Tascam, and used Professional Harris boards in broadcasting. I had used a Mackie board, in more recent times, but found it really was not as clean as this Behringer, which honestly is equal in sound quality to some Allen and Heath boards I have heard. Now this product is being updated, look at the Behringer web site, but I’m happy with this one and the price I paid $209.00. Can’t beat that.5 stars if the headphone amp was quieter and had at least a 24 bit 48 k output via usb.

Great for Mobile DJ!This is the one! After using the 1202 (rotary channel knobs, 4 stereo channels) and then changing to the 1204 (channel sliders, but only 2 stereo channels), I am really liking the 1222. It has the sliders, 4 stereo channels, AND 2 sliders controlling monitor and effects send right down with the rest of them where they should be, not some hidden knob hard to get to on the fly, AND a slider for the 2-track return too! FINALLY I can balance all my inputs on the mixer and not fuss with volumes/gains on the computer/phone/cd player I’m sending from. All the channels are in a vertical row, much easier to keep track of the inputs as opposed to the stacked channels on the 1202. This does not have a PFL button BUT I think the separate level setting yellow LEDs up by the gain knobs are better for my mobile DJ use…maybe not as accurate as using PFL on the main meter but they are a constant visual aide to keep the input gain levels hot but not too hot. You simply keep them dialed to where the input occasionally flashes them. I would prefer the main XLR outs to be on the back like they are on the 1204 and I might miss the Solo buttons that the 1204 has too but I’ll swap mixers if a gig needs that. All in all the 1222 has a great mix of features. I like the onboard graphic equalizer with feedback detect, stereo expand feature, and a great FX section. Good job Behringer!

Missing USB and Power Cable…I’ve used Behringer products so I’m confident in the quality, but no power cable or usb cable….wtf?
