Q: Why do I need to update my glasses when I connect them to my smartphone and open Nebula? Can I cancel the update?

A: In order to improve product experience, Nreal will continually release new firmware versions for the glasses, fix known problems, and function optimization. When the glasses are plugged into the phone, the Nebula app will automatically detect whether the current version of the glasses is up to date, and if not, it will prompt you to update the glasses. Not using the latest firmware version may cause cause issues with the glasses, please follow the prompts to upgrade for an optimized user experience.

Q: Can an iPhone or iPad be connected? If I use a USB-C to Lightning adapter, can I use Nreal Air with my iPhone?

A: If your Apple device has a USB-C port, you can connect your Nreal Air AR glasses directly to the device. If your Apple device (such as an iPhone) has a Lightning Port, you will need the Nreal Adapter in order to use your glasses, alongside an original Apple Lighting Digital AV Adapter.
We strongly advise against using Digital AV Adapters that are not manufactured by Apple, as this will affect your glasses and potentially cause damage to the device.

Q: Can the Nreal Adapter be used with Nreal Light?

A: The Nreal Adapter is best used with Nreal Air. There is a known audio issue when paired with Nreal Light, and you will need wireless headsets.

Nreal Light vs Nreal Air Vs Rokid Air
Ok, the real review.Last year I bought Nreal Lite, then I purchased Rokid Air ( all here on Amazon)This year I got Nreal Air.So I have all 3 to compare:1. Nothing compares to Nreal Lite Much bigger screen and you can fit the phone screen into the view. Heavier but the build quality is not even comparable to Nreal Lite or Rokid2. Out of 3 – Rokid air has the blurriest picture but the most comfortable fit3. Nreal Lite is 30 g heavier but for me, it sits more comfortable than Nreal Air4. Nreal Air – great picture, excellent brightness, better sound ( compare to the other 2 )5. Nreal Lite is $200 + more than AirFinal thoughts:Preferable Nreal Lite ( more useful for work )Fun and lightest Nreal AirI would skip Rokid Air ( wait for the next version)Software :All of them work perfectly fine as big screens for entertainment ( android – have not tested iPhone)Nebula ( annoying as hell, on galaxy s22 and z fold 4) and not really useful or ready for prime.Nebula is something to explore but I don’t see anyone really using it at this point.Nreal Lite can be used as a second or the main screen when connected to a PC or laptop ( for practical reasons) but on Air or Rokid it cuts off and is not very useful.Either pair of Glasses would do fine for entertainment but not much use for anything else ( yet)How fast will drain your battery?Z-fold 4 without using Nebula 2.5 hours, with adapter 3,5 – 4 hoursGalaxy S22 – 2 hours, with adapter 4 hoursDell XPS 13 – 7 hoursOne of the solutions is to get an adapter ( not for the iPhone) that splits the power and video out and then you can get a longer run time ( Problem is that the screen of the phone has to be always on for glasses to work, it can’t be turned off which helps to drain the battery much quicker)

Large screen for your small device but AR has more work to go
The Nreal Air glasses feel like a sneak peek of what the future of Augmented Reality could be like…in a few years with more content and development. What I liked:* Sitting on the train and playing games on my tablet that look like they are being projected on a virtual 130” screen* They “just work” on my iPad Air, Macbook Pro, and Samsung Tab S4 tablet for screen mirroring mode (Heavy asterisk: I needed to do a firmware update first on my Macbook Pro and Nreal’s website or the glasses wouldn’t have worked at all!)* The Nebula App (Android only for now) is really interesting and showcases more of what the glasses can do in AR mode. However, it is more of a novelty right now so definitely buy the glasses if you want screen mirroring and think of the AR stuff as a bonus!Needs more work:* The first time setup was a bit strange and I was glad I had a supported device (Macbook with USB C)* The Nebula App is Android only (it would be great to try this on iPhone or iPad)* Outside of screen monitoring, the product feels like it is in beta (And the software is a rough beta)Overall, this is a pretty interesting product and if Nreal continues to support it with regular software updates it could finally usher in Augmented Reality for more people.

    Subpar experience for Apple users
Was super excited to order these on the relaunch date, with support for iOS devices. I have an iPhone 13 and iPad Air. Had to buy both the Apple HDMI adapter and the nreal adapter, which ran about $100 extra. So first the good: the glasses are sleek, the image quality is great. Unfortunately, that’s where the good ends.Very disappointing but you’re paying extra for a very much downgraded experience. iPhone users only get a screen that does not track to head movements. As a result, the experience is like staring into a screen strapped to your face, not like looking at a theater screen. The experience is disorienting and caused minor motion sickness. There is no interactivity like the Android devices have, and I have not seen plans for support. This is simply not worth the nearly $500. If you’re an Android user, the experience looks much better, with a responsive screen that orients independently from your head and the ability to click and interact with your screen. If you’re an Apple user, I’d recommend waiting until they fully support (if ever). I plan to try to return, will update on that experience.

    Surprisingly great!
I really didn’t expect a lot from these, having owned several VR headsets in the past. This of course, is NOT a VR headset, but I wanted something to watch movies and play regular “flat-screen” games with occasionally. I knew it worked with my Valve SteamDeck so that was the deciding factor. On the phone, it works great for the content you are allowed to play, as you can fix the screen in position in front of you (if you have a compatible phone that is – my Android, a Galaxy S23 Ultra works great). However on the Steam Deck, the image follows wherever you move your head, as it is in effect just an external monitor. The good news is that they are coming with a solution for that, the bad news is that it is another gadget that will cost a bit over $100 – that is coming in July. They are also working on higher refresh rates than the 60 it currently supports. I’ll tell you though, the image looks amazing, with deep blacks, and plenty bright for me. A thing to keep in mind is that you cannot charge your device (well, you can wireless charge if that is supported on your phone), as it uses up your USB port (and also draws a bit of power from your phone). I ended up buying some fairly obscure adapter called RedMagic that plugs between your phone and the glasses, but has an extra usb-c port for charging.

    This is the future
I was really excited to try out the Nreal Air Smart Glasses. I had seen some demos and was intrigued by the idea of having a 200″ display in front of my eyes that I could interact with while in enclosed spaces or while multitasking. The glasses arrived and I eagerly put them on. The first thing I noticed was how light they are. They are very comfortable to wear and don’t feel heavy at all. After a bit of headache updating them and registering them with Nreal, the next thing I noticed was the display. It is very clear and looks like it is right in front of my eyes. The colors are also very vibrant.I had to purchase a Samsung S10e in order to use the Nebular and Dex software, which was a bit of learning curve as a normal iphone user, but I was able to navigate through the menus and explore all the features very easily. I found that the Nebula and Dex apps were very easy to use and that I could be very productive with them.Overall, I think the Nreal Air Smart Glasses are a great product. TThe display is clear and vibrant for productivity work, and they are very comfortable to wear. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants to see what the future of AR has to offer.

    Perfect for School or Bussiness
The best part of these glasses is the easy to use browser. It allows you to open multiple tabs and position them anywhere around you. This feature is perfect for multitasking or compromising documents. The gaming feature is still in development but I found these glasses easier than a normal computer.

Blow the Rokids out of the water
Great sharpness across the entire view, great comfort, STUNNING tracking (the rokids were super blurry because the gyros sucked, these are rock solid) .. decent software that does need help. (can’t enter URL in that spot, have to search for the website and go that way.) I’m amazed.
