Make sure to run a good fog juice
I purchased this unit to replace a 500 watt unit that seemed to want to not work when I hit the remote more so than would work. This unit works everytime I’ve hit the button so far but my fog juice didn’t come in with the unit so I made a home juice with a 20% pg to distilled water it worked great when I tested it on the porch but in the club not so much. My juice came in the next day so I changed out my juice in my tank to the new juice, this thing will fill a room quickly. I have it set under my DJ booth I only have to hold the button down about 10 seconds and I dissappear in a cloud of fog! I would definitely recommend this unit.

Great quality fog machine!
I bought this for Halloween to add a spooky fog effect to my yard and it was perfect! The remote kinda sucks but if you tape the button down It will run constantly unlike most fog machines that will only spit out fog for 10 secs and then take a few mins to warm back up. You can purchase remote timers for this to fit your needs.

Complete Dissapointment
I was fully disappointed with this fog machine. For a few years I was using a low cost no-name fog machine for my Halloween display. The one issue that I had with it was that its heat cycle was not always in sync with what I needed and would prevent the machine from producing fog when I wanted or needed it to. This year I decided to upgrade the fogger to a constant temp machine so that it would produce fog when I wanted and needed it to and went with the CHAUVET DJ 1000 because the company has a good rep and the reviews also looked good. Unfortunately, the few bad reviews were dead on This review is a bit long but I prefer long reviews explaining things than just it’s great or it sucks with no explanation as to why in either case. When the unit arrived, I was a bit surprised on how small it was but it does say compact in the description, It comes with a wired and wireless remote but neither one is all that great. The wired remote as shown in the picture, is a el-cheepo one button remote with no timing or output control and is of very low quality. The wireless is a built in 4 button remote that only one of those buttons is used and once again, no control over output level and you need to hold it down to create fog. The description says that the other three buttons are for future use but not as far as this machine goes since there is no way to upgrade it for added functionality. It looks to me that they just used a remote for another unit that has more functionality. Another downside is that this remote is built into the unit so it can’t be upgraded later. When the unit showed up, the fog juice that I ordered also came the same day so I gave it a quick test run. The fog juice that I was using is Froggy’s Freezing fog to create a low lying fog for a Cemetery scene so it is not junk juice. They claim or at least I understood this machine to be a constant temp machine but it is not. Unlike the low cost no-name $40 fog machine I was using, it uses two sensors to control it instead of one. The cheep machine uses one sensor that either runs the heater or the pump which give the machine that annoying working / not working heat cycle. This one uses 2 sensors, one controlling the heat and the other controlling the pump. The two sensors overlap in temp settings allowing the fogger to produce fog even while still heating once the minimum temp is reached. Each one of these sensors is also connected to an LED that shines into the fluid tank, the heat LED is red and the pump LED is blue. This makes the tank glow in one of three colors, indicating the current state of the fogger. Red for warming up and no fog, Purple for warming up but operational, and Blue for warmed up and operational. After filling the fog machine and waiting for a blue tank, I pressed the button and was sadly NOT impressed. While it produced fog, the volume was not impressive and didn’t seem a whole lot more than the cheep machine I was using. It was a bit breezy that day and I justified the output due to that but I should have done a bit more testing then. The day before Halloween I set the fogger up the way I set up the low cost unit and was shocked at how poorly it worked. Very little fog came out. Checking the connections I could see that the jet actually melted the hose that connected it to the chiller. I thought that it may just be due to the higher wattage of this unit but the reality is that it is a combination of the higher wattage and second rate low output pump. Another issue is that the button on the wired remote kept sticking in the on position. It is a cheaply made unit that is of lower quality than the one that came with my low cost no-name fogger. They claim is that this unit has a controllable output and if so, then the controller that comes with it should be able to control these abilities, not just produce fog when pressed. As the machine is currently sold, there is no way to use that function without buying optional equipment.Since it was too late to get a different machine, I changed the feed tube to solid PVC and went from there. The wireless remote worked when it wanted to and at times, you could see a blue tank and no output. When you fired it off at other times, by the time the fog started coming out of the chiller, the tank would go from blue to purple to red and the fog would stop. Since it was about 58 degrees outside, the temp is really not an excuse for such poor output. Things were going so poorly, I dug out the no-name machine and set it up on the other side of the display with no chiller and using the same juice and it worked MUCH better and producing more fog and more consistently. With this machine, I spent the extra $10 for the timer controller which also has the variable output dial. The variable output does not do anything with this low cost machine because it doesn’t have that ability but the timer makes things much easier provided the timer doesn’t try to create fog during the warm up cycle. This is the type of remote that the CHAUVET should have come with. Event the single button remote that the no-name machine came with is of much higher quality than the CHAUVET’s and there really is no excuse for that. I would have liked to use the no-names controller but it has a different connector than the CHAUVET I had no time or desire to modify it or hunt down a connector to use on it.When you buy a name brand unit, there is a higher level of expectation and it simply was not even close to being met here. My no-name $40 machine was at minimum a match if not superior to this unit in just about every way. It stays warm longer, better controls, more output, and lower cost. And this with a 400 watt unit compared to a 1000 name brand unit. Even with the addition of the extra $10 for the timed wired remote for the no-name still makes it a much better value than this $100 name brand machine and that is in a word – sad. At least the one good thing is that I am still within the return window and that is exactly what I am going to do. This machine is simply not worth keeping as is and I doubt that CHAUVET is going to do anything about it. I would strongly suggest that if you decide to purchase this unit, you fully inspect and test it as soon as you get it and make sure that it is not a return and meets your needs. I think that you are going to find that it is not of the quality or capability that you would expect. I don’t know if this unit may have been a return. It was well packed but could have possibly been used and run dry which can hurt the pump and reduce output or left dirty and partially clogged. Amazon is good about returns but there is a limit on the time you have to do it and if you miss that point, you may be SOL as far as this unit and company is concerned.

Impressed
Love this machine it does do exactly what it says it does. I ordered a cheaper version and had it on 10 mins and it stopped working, the machine became so hot it was dangerous so sent it back immediately. Looked around for another and this time I decided to pay a little extra and I’m glad I did, this machine is really good, I hope it continues. (the first machine was ordered from another company NOT Chauvet) I have used the water based Chauvet fog fluid they recommend and I will order the cleaning fluid from this company also as I intend to try and keep this machine functioning properly. I think though that you can use any water based fog fluid, however, check with the company first. There is a really good instruction manual and set of cleaning instructions, you can also download a full manual online if you want. They delivered promptly and currently, I am impressed with the company and the machine. It makes loads and loads of fog, I tried mine outside on a windy day and the smoke hung around for a little while, so on a still day or inside this is going to be excellent. I also intend to put a tent over it for Halloween and work the machine by remote control as the trick or treaters come down the path. Both remotes work extremely well and the wired in remote has a really long lead so was impressed with that too. The wireless remote comes on a clip for your belt or pocket so you don’t lose it and it works excellently. There is also an on machine manual function for fog which also works well. We’re going to have loads of fun with this.

Produces less fog than a 400 watt machine
I have a cheaper 400 watt fog machine that works well, but was hoping to get something a little nicer. This machine is supposed to be able to produce a fairly continuous flow of fog, but my unit produced fog for about ten seconds before it would make a grinding noise and nothing would come out. The light would turn red, so I assumed the unit was too hot. I stopped and waited, and after several minutes it turned blue and would produce another 10 seconds of fog before choking up. Worse, you have to baby sit the unit the entire time and keep pushing the button, either on the unit or on the remote, to keep producing fog. In an hour’s time, this machine only actually produced fog four or five times. The rest of the time it sputtered and made noise, and eeked out a tiny whisp of fog before turning red and shutting down. My 400 watt fog machine, that cost less than half of this one produces fog for several hours and will run continuously, (not without stopping, but on and off automatically as it cooled and heated – you didn’t have to push the button over and over again like with this unit. You just switch it on and it would go until it ran out of fog juice.) I don’t know if I got a bad unit, but I would not purchase again. My cheaper machine from another brand ran much better and produced much more fog than this machine. I’m disappointed.

Chauvet Fogger, works great and includes wired AND wireless remote!
CHAUVET DJ Hurricane 1000 Compact Fog Machine with wired and wireless remote control. Unlike some Chauvet packages, this does NOT include fog fluid! Make sure to purchase at the same time and use the correct (Chauvet DJ Fog Fluid) fluid. Fill up the tank about half way BEFORE you plug it in. Plug it in and let it warm up before you activate the pump. The LED/Tank will change color from pink (heating) to blue when it’s ready. Take care of it, use fog machine cleaner once in awhile and use the correct fog fluid and these Chauvet Hurricane foggers last forever. This is a fogger, not a haze machine and not a low fog machine, those are entirely different so don’t try to use other fluids to get those effects, purchase the correct machine for the correct job and you will be happy! One thing about Chauvet equipment, if it works out of the box it will last forever, if it doesn’t work out of the box, insist on a replacement.

Surprisingly Good
I purchased this for a fire service training application. It is surprisingly good for the cost. The build feels pretty rugged and it doesn’t take up much space. It runs off of a 1kw generator with no issues and is capable of reducing visibility in a 1500 square foot residential structure enough to inhibit normal visual navigation in less than 30 minutes, and to almost zero within an hour. It will even fill our apparatus bay pretty densely if given enough time– just remember to call the alarm company first, as this will definitely trip photoelectric smoke detectors. It doesn’t have a constant “run” mode, but a zip tie around the “push for smoke” button on the wired remote fixes that easily enough. We were looking spice up training on the cheap without the safety risks of combustible smoke “candles,” and this thing has delivered.

It’s not great
When I got this item I though I had to return it because it wouldn’t work. I could not get it to prime itself following all instructions. had to force liquid into the tube with a pipette making a mess. once i got it working I was underwhelmed by the output. thin cloud will only be enough to fill a small room after a few hours. Might as well spend 50$ more and getting something better.

Sturdy, professional-feeling unit (model #1000) with a bulletproof wireless remote
Great little machine. Appears well built and professional quality. I am confused by the plethora of different models this company offers, and suspect the difference are in the heating element and how long a model can blow smoke before it needs to recycle. This “1000” blow for maybe 15 seconds, before needing 15 seconds to reheat, which is plenty of time to fill a medium-sized room for a minute. It has worked 100% reliably and still feels sturdy and like new. The “1000” does come with a wireless remote (the Amazon ad text was ambiguous about this) and it seems bulletproof — worked 100% of the time from distances of up to 30′ It also comes with a heavy-duty wired remote, I guess for professional use, but the cord is too big and heavy for use in my house. Also, this unit uses surprisingly very little fluid for a lot of smoke/fog. After a 8-hour Hallowe’en party it used maybe 8 oz.

Great for Halloween props. Lots of fog, easy to use
