Add to this our 24-bit, dual-engine Multi-FX processor with 16 editable, professional-grade presets including reverb, chorus, fl anger, delay, pitch shifter and multi-effects – and the X2222USB becomes an incredibly versatile mixer for your live performances. |
Sonically Superior Mic PreampsAll XENYX mixers have one thing in common – great-sounding, high headroom XENYX mic preamps. These state-of-the-art mic pres represent a major step in the evolution of audio technology – and they can easily hold their own, even when compared to the most expensive stand-alone mic preamps. XENYX preamps off er a staggering 130 dB of dynamic range, with a bandwidth that extends from below 10 Hz to well above 200 kHz. Armed with these outstanding mic preamps, XENYX mixers provide such transparent, crystal-clear performance you just might think someone upgraded your mics while you weren’t looking. |
Studio-Quality Compressor – Stairway to HeavenOur studio-grade compressor is based on classic and famous studio equipment from the 70’s. This totally transparent and musical compressor design allows your full dynamic range to shine through until your signal reaches the compression threshold, which is indicated by the highly visible status LED. The compressor increases sustain and gently smoothens out signal peaks, which is especially handy when you’re laying down the funk, à la slap and pop – or hammering home your most-aggressive metal lines. The resulting output level lets you unleash powerful and impact-laden bass lines, while still sitting right where you need to be in the mix! |

Sublimely Musical British EQThe British consoles of the 1960s and ‘70s changed the sound of rock and roll – without them the British Invasion might not have happened. Those legendary mixing desks soon became the envy of engineers and producers all over the world. The channel EQ on our XENYX mixers is based on that very same circuitry, allowing you to imbue signals with incredible warmth and detailed musical character. Even when applied generously, these equalizers exhibit sweet forgiveness and superb audio quality. |
Built-in Digital Multi-FX ProcessorEquipped with our studio-grade 24-bit Multi-FX processor, the X2222USB gives you 16 mind-blowing digital effect presets such as delay, chorus and reverb. Time-based functions can be entered manually by pressing the Tap button in tempo with the music. Apply them to any channel, as well as to the monitors and main output. Of course, if you have treasured outboard gear you’ve grown attached to, the X2222USB lets you integrate them into the mix – bypassing the built-in FX processor. |
Special Features…The X2222USB comes equipped with channel Inserts for all mono channels for use with outboard FX. All channels feature 3 Aux Sends: 1 pre/post fader switchable for monitoring/FX applications; 1 post fader (for use either with the internal FX or as an external send); Clip LEDs; Mute, Main Mix and Subgroup routing switches, plus Solo and PFL functions. Additionally, you get 3 multi-functional stereo Aux Returns and 2 Subgroups with separate outputs, for even more routing flexibility. |

Versatile medium sized mixer
I’ve been using a Behringer 1202FX mixer with a 3-piece band for years, and I wanted something a little larger for those times when I wanted a couple of extra microphones. I wasn’t too fussed about the USB connectivity, but having a few more inputs and outputs was the main reason for getting the X2222USB.And I’m not disappointed! There is so much packed into the mixer, you get a lot for your money. Each of the 8 mic inputs has three band EQ with sweepable mid range, and a basic compressor (useful if your vocalist occasionally belts out a high note). All channels can send to the built in FX unit which is basic (but what do you expect built into a mixer that costs less than £200?) but provides usable reverb options (which is what you’re probably going to use most of the time). There are a pair of other aux output (first one is pre-fade, the second is switchable pre/post). The USB has actually turned out to be fairly useful, as I now don’t need to plug the master output into an audio interface – I can plug directly into my laptop. As a bonus, the X2222 can also be used as a USB audio output, and the output can be routed to either control room or main mix (which might be of limited use, but if you’re using this to mix a small band into a Zoom call, having the return audio routed to control room/monitor is actually useful). Don’t get me wrong, this is not a digital mixer at all, the USB connectivity is just for main mix output and a limited audio return, you can’t send USB audio to individual channels, nor can you record individual channels via USB – this is not for multi-tracking.I’ve run into a couple of negative points. There are no gain controls (beyond the travel of the faders) for the stereo inputs – an omission I can’t really understand. Also, there’s no way to route the FX output to the other 2 aux output – I ended up using a stereo jack to twin mono jack splitter cable, and plugging the FX send into one of the stereo channels, mixing the FX into the main mix that way rather than the knob for that purpose, so that I could then also add the FX signal to the other aux sends (that I’m using to drive in ear monitors – vocalists like being able to hear some reverb). The mute switches on the channels appear to be connected after the pre-fade tap, so when you mute a channel, you can still hear it through any pre-fade aux sends. These aren’t show stopping problems, but something to be aware of, and why I’ve only given 4 stars. If you’ve outgrown a 1202FX, the X2222USB is a worthy candidate for your next step, and has the added bonus of being 8U rack mountable (so you can store and transport it in a standard mixer flight case – the mounting wings are included, you just need to remove the side trims and loosen the case screws on the sides to fit them).
I took one start away only because when it arrived there was a hole ripped threw the box however it seems to work just fine after unpacking and setting up,so what that being said I give 4 stars –
Good product,not so great delivery

Now waiting on number 3 -first one duff b-stock – second one trashed in transit
First one was ‘B’ stock – arrived with damaged packaging but unit seemed OK. However after a few hours of use it developed the dreaded hissing from the fx unit. Amazon took it back without issue so ordered a new one at full price (Amazon would not one-for-one b-stock which is fair enough). However it arrived in a box which was burst by something heavy enough to have dented the base of the mixer. Didn’t even fully unpack it or try to use it. Number 3 has arrived and been given a good test-drive. Like all Behringer stuff when it works it works well and this is no exception – clear, low noise, reasonable effects for those that want them (I don’t) and smooth noiseless sliders with plenty of options for connectivity ( I am currently using 8 mics and 2 stereo line-ins – plus one of the sub-channels so it’s getting a good work out. Value for money – definitely.Couple of things you need to know though (looking at other reviews) – firstly the USB is 2-way but not if you want to record from your PC (e.g youtube/itunes) through the mixer back to the PC (I use a Macbook). It is true 2-way if you are using Ableton, Garageband etc to add tracks so you can monitor USB in while recording an over-dub for example. For recording off PC using USB you can do it easily enough by using a stereo 3.5mm-jack-to-2x-quarter-inch-mono-jack lead from the PC headphone socket into a stereo line in and use it as a normal input – this allows the USB to take the recording signal. You will need to adjust your computer settings to USB-audio codec as sound input and built-in headphone as the sound output. Also – like most USB mixers at present – it does not provide individul multi-track recording capability – what you get is the outboard main mix stereo signal. Again you can get round this by using the insert sockets, special leads and a multi-channel interface such as one of the bigger u-phoria models. Macbooks also uniquely allow you have several interfaces connected and ‘aggregate’ them into one on the midi control panel. So all in all the X2222USB is a great bit of kit for the money but just be aware of what you are buying and what it is designed to do – it is primarily a PA mixer with a convenient stereo USB input/outlet – it is not multi-track recorder. Used correctly though and if you understand how these things are supposed to be used then it is a great bit of kit for the money. Will I use it live – definitely – but then sensible people normally have a useable spare on stand- by or use parallel systems as a matter of course anyway – irrespective of what level/quality of kit they own.

So many inputs! But some noise
You’ve got 8 mic inputs with XLR or quarter-inch, channel inserts for those inputs – allowing you to route them out to separate effects processors and back – then 8 more inputs lined up as dual quarter-inch inputs for stereo or mono via the left channel. The 6 mic inputs have a gain knob for the pre-amp and a built-in compressor knob. All inputs have a level adjustment pad for +4db or -10db. Along with a 3-band EQ.Flexible output options are available, as well. You’ve got your standard phones output up top, then on the back you have Main Outputs available in XLR and Quarter-inch, sub-mix output via quarter inch, and a “Control Room Out” via quarter-inch.This is a 2-bus mixer, meaning you have a main mix and a sub-mix. I use this HEAVILY for streaming and inspired my primary interest in learning audio mixing for streams and information that I regularly use to this day.For each input’s fader, you have 3 switches – Solo, Sub, and Main. “Solo” sends the signal to what is essentially a “soft mix” of sorts – it only goes to the headphones and control room out for you to hear. If you want to hear and monitor a source, “Solo” needs turned on for it. “Sub” and “Main” are for the sub-mix and main mix, respectively. I utilize this to create a main mix of all of my input sources together – something I don’t use all that often anymore – and a sub-mix with just my microphone inputs. I use this sub mix as my primary input in Windows. This way, I have a clean, microphone-only input to my PC that I can record and send to VOIP apps like Discord, Skype, etc. without the people I’m chatting with hearing an echo of themselves. Then, if I need a full mix-down for live streams, I have that running in, as well – though I mainly just mix to headphones for me to hear and capture main mix sources in software anyway. The FX slider also allows you to map which tracks it plays to, and then you can turn up FX levels per device. So I have FX set to only apply to my microphone devices – so when I unmute FX, my mic has the effects applied. The built-in 24-bit effects mainly include reverb and chorus-style effects.Lastly, of course, this mixer has USB output, buuuuuut I have honestly found that feature to be all but useless. It uses generic ASIO4ALL drivers, only sends the main stereo mix to the PC, and overall was just way too quiet to be usable. In my original testing, even clipping the main mix would be like -40db input to the PC, and then amplifying it up brought crazy noise floor with it. No thank you. Plus USB audio just sucks anyway.

High recommended!
This mixer was an upgrade for me. I’d previously been using a smaller 2 mic input behinrger mixer which only had one aux send and no inserts; I wanted a mixer with this funcaility to feed a looper from an aux send, as well as adding reverb. Those in the market for mixers will no doubt be aware that inserts and multiple sends/outputs are only available on large mixers, hence my choice of the x2222usb.On the whole, tHis mixer peforms beautifully and Im very happy with my purchase. The are certainly more pros thans cons!PROSThe Sub group is a nice bonus for me to supplement my basic home recording setup. I foresee that this could be useful for monitoring/recording vocals i.e. sending dry vocals through the sub group outputs (to a recording device) whilst monitoring the vocals (with the main mix) with reverb. The compressors are nice and transparent. I feared that they might be “squishy” but they sound good to my ears. Each main (Mic) channel has a mute, solo, main and sub group switch. Each main (Mic) channel has 3 sends and an insert. The phones/control room has a nice bank of switches to dictate what your monitoring through phones/control room outs.Ease of use is worthy of note. I’ve been using it for a few days and already am confortable with most of the functions. Highly recommended for those wanting an introduction into PA/recoridng/mixing/live sound equipement.CONSThe other built in effects are ok for the price, but each preset just seems too much. You can tame it by adjusting the channel and master send/return volumes, but the ability to configure one of the parameters would be nice. This can be overcome by inserting your own rev/fx unit. For my purposes, its a non-issue.All the pots are plastic shaft types and probably PCB mounted. This not uncommon these days, but Im wary that if these shap, replacement will be tricky it not near impossible (hence 4 stars and not 5).***Im aware of the USB in/out but deliberately not mentioned as I ahvent tested it. One youtube video suggested that the USB out can be configured so that each Mic channel is outputted individually via USB and therefore could be simulaneously recorded individually. I do suspect this to be false. I suspect the USB out only carries the stereo main mix L and R. USB is still useful for home pc recording though.***
