Description

The Rockville RPM870 is an 8 channel powered console mixer with USB input. There were a few goals we had when designing this mixer. The first one was it had to have the clearest sound quality with the best quality mic preamps. We manufactured this mixer with XDR2 low noise mic preamps. These are some of the best sounding mic pre’s on the market. They compete in quality with any brand on the market! The next goal we had was versatility. This mixer has aux sends and returns on each channel so you can route your external effects easily. We also built in a 24 bit digital effects processor that sounds great. We didn’t include 99 effects which all sound the same. Rather we included 16 solid effects that are each useful. You can customize each effect in the FX control section of the mixer. The last goal was to include a built-in amplifier that is powerful enough for your main speakers so that you can use this mixer for large events with over 500 guests.

We tested this and we ran the mixer to (2) Mackie C300Z speakers, and even with the volume turned up half way these were filling an extremely large room with sound! We also tested these with dual 15” DJ speakers and really cranked them and the sound of the highs and lows were crisp and clean. The great thing about this is the amp does not overheat even when cranking it for hours straight. The power amp built into this mixer is 500 x 2 RMS @ 8 ohms and 750 x 2 RMS @ 4 ohms. We rate the RMS very strictly the way famous brands like Mackie rate their items. We also supply you with program and peak ratings but RMS is the true continuous output power you should look at.

Other great features are a dual 7 band master EQ, a 4 band EQ on each channel, an EQ kill switch, and pad and solo buttons on each channel. Rounding things out, we added a USB input that has 2 functions. It can play back your audio tracks. But what is really cool is that you can record your main mix onto the USB!

I know more than you about this so just read it and your welcome!!!THIS IS LONG AND PROBABLY BORING AND MUNDANE…..BUT IF YOU DON’T READ THIS THEN STOP SHOPPING FOR AMPLIFIERS BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT PROPERLY INFORMED AND THEREFORE WILL BE A LOSER LIKE ME……TILL NOW! Ok! If you read any reviews before this one, i am reiterating exactly what everyone else says. Be sure you really want this before buying. Dealing with rockville is worse than a kick in the pagonias!!!! I have had the rpm870 for almost a month now and use it specifically to allow my neighbors to enjoy it as well and it works well for that. Use low ohm speakers if you want to use more than 4, i have 12 passive and 3 powered monitors as well as powered sub.. 2 polk towers 2 midsize polks and 1 polk double center channel. 3 passive klipsch midsize and a double center channel klipsch. I powered klpisch bookshelf and 1 cerwin vega double center channel…all centers are 5.5s with their own form of tweeters.. Klipsch will win that freq. Spectrum. Oh! 1, 12″ very powered sub. With built in adj crossover to 350hz?. And phaze control. Almost forgot. 2 passive bookshelf polks too! So only being able to use 4 of my however many spkrs i have because the amp is set up as 4ohm system, any more than 4 8ohm spkrs you will overheat the “6000w” ? Amp and then the airplane propeller has to run to keep it kool…they say?!?!? It has been sitting with power on and not one hook up of anykind, other than power coord, and the fan never shuts off, hot with load or not….it will be loudest sound in whatever room you have it in unless you have it cranked up. Just so we are all on same page here i feel compelled to write my second review in 2 yrs of 50 orders every 2 months with Amazon. I am re retired special ops. Officer Lcdr U.S.N. after stealing a E.E fom S.I.U. CARBONDALE IL. ” LOL” i served 10 years in the Navy specializing in hunting submarines and other targets..Using”passive&active” acoustics. I used sound “energy” to locate track and checkmate human targets as a scout sniper in the late 80s mostly in Panama jungle then to the first gulf war where we used the energy of sound waves to locate, track and with the advancements of our avionics, we were able to pinpoint on any moving target, man sized on up to the largest of any country’s piece of military hardware….by using a pencil beam on a object with doplar the computer could create a synthetic aperture of the target and basically give us a silhouette on our display instead of Just a blip with directionality like a radar screen. Since then have been an audiologist for better than 23 years dealing specifically with the most advanced hearing aids in the world…all automatic and adaptive, bluetooth and streaming data…etc. Suffice it to say the propagation of energy waknowledgeablei dont know in my alwwpAll that being a u have veen using marantz and denon as my amp source and i love music…to the point of obsession probably lol. have had mine less than a month and am having several issues with and am returning it and have already replaced it a pyle 12 channel 6000w ofwhich i like alot…i will say this..the roxkville is hands down better sound than the marantz and denon and barely beats out the new amp. Anyway i have decided to keep the rockville….replaced with a new one of course because at the end of the day….rockville has them all beat and i have bought and returned 7 amps from all the big companies till i landed on rockville….yes they may suck at customer service and be the worst at anything that has to do with anything other than just keeping their product….i had all speakers goin with all amplifiers at full throttle and was the best, cleanest and noise free music i have ever enjoyed, with my neighbors…lol…now i have 20 channels and 12000 watts bwtween the two and i let all flags fly all the time qnd my 20 year polks and new klipsch produce something i have never experienced before, and in my world that is the sound world i though i had experienced all that most anyone could…considering. So buy it don’t buy it. couple hundred bucks is healthy enough to be concerned about getting bang for your buck….the only way to do that is to buy it….i live in AZ. and i put on YouTube ocean sounds and it makes the whole block sound like we live on the beach……best $250 ish i have ever had the displeasure to spend having to deal with rockville to getIt quickly deduct from that value if you have to spend much time dealing withthem…i have had amazon file 3 claims against them and audiosavings just to get them to honor their own ad…buy they did and got lucky….maybe you will too! Nowhere can you find this quality of engineering equations for the little money they try to steal from you…..BUT THEIR EQUATIONS WORK AS LONG AS THE HARDWARE DOES…..YOU WIN.

Good ampI don’t have a lot to say that’s bad about this mixer. I was impressed with the clarity of the sound. The volume is amazing for BT and aux. The mic volume is quite touchy. I use a condenser mic and a vocal box with built in phantom power and it’s very sensitive and takes a bit to adjust for good vocal sound. However once dialed in it was amazing. I’d recommend this product so far. I’ll edit this review after more time. Hope this helps. OH by the way the fan isn’t that loud.

Expected betterEvery time you want to Bluetooth in a device, you have to press buttons to learn it in. My Berringer that cost me 229 for speakers and head unit does it automatically. I haven’t played with it in depth but so far my Berringer system has just as much power. I can’t see how this system could be 6000watts. I’ll try to work at it and tweak it but it shouldn’t take the effort.

Legit all you need!Works flawlessly. Legit PLUG AND PLAY with two 200w tweeter+Driver sub speakers, and two 300w subwoofer running at 110v (wall plug). Best deal so far!

  5. Charles C Shupe

Great Value At A Great Price! This has just the power I needed! Sound quality is wonderful. Anyone that is starting off will be VERY happy with this.

Love this! This product arrived first with damage and shipment was refused by the delivery driver, as he saw the damages and double checked with us. However, after the ordeal of the company verifying the first shipment was infact on its way back (that was an ordeal, but more on the side of the shipping company and using the wrong codes from what we could figure out) the second one arrived in great condition. I do wish they’d box it up better for shipping but grateful the second delivery arrived somehow without damage.I’m so happy we waited for the second shipment and we now use this everyday. We have a small public space and use it daily via Bluetooth to connect my music and then also able to use it for musicians to connect to easily and play. The sound is phenomenal, clear, and the adjustments allow for easily altering the tones (if something comes through too high or low, it’s easy to adjust). It has so many features. We did have to purchase adapters from our speakers because it’s a different type of plug, but after that, it was a breeze to use! Couldn’t be happier with the quality, ease of controls, and the array of options. Definitely worth the hassles because it works perfectly. We’ve been using it a few months.

Good mixer/amplifierPurchased this to use in our church fellowship hall. It provides plenty of power for our speakers, has versatile inputs, and the blue tooth option is great.

  8. Srinivas

Go To mixerThese are my go-to mixers for gigs. I only docked 1 star for versatility as I miss a few features, such as mute all, more monitor outputs, sub-groups, etc

Cheaply made, cheap, but does the job depending on your needsPros: The Rockville rpm 109 is a high powered dual channel amp. The controls feel reasonably solid. The graphic equalizer is fine and the stereo, a fax or actually quite good. It comes with fantompower if necessary for running certain microphones. I use it for the most basic of rehearsals and it suits my need quite well.Cons: one of the features that was most important to me was the USB and Bluetooth connectivity so I could connect to different devices for rehearsals and to listen to tracks as I play. It started off working quite well, but eventually that entire section of the unit died. No, YouTube the USB connectivity doesn’t work the entire digital controller for that portion went dark.So in the end, I cannot recommend it based on quality but if you are in need of something powerful with reasonable controls, it’s a cheap alternative until you can get something better.

Not a bad little unitI bought this head to run a couple Makie PA speakers for some in house kareoke. Once the unit is dialed in, she is good to go. I wouldn’t use it for a “gig” because the pots are a bit noisy but for small stuff, no worries. Fast delivery. Good vendor.
