Movistar Arena Buenos Aires installs L-Acoustics K and L Series as in-house concert system

Background and context

Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires, Argentina, has completed a major upgrade to its in-house sound system, selecting a large-scale L-Acoustics K and L Series deployment as its main concert PA.

Located in the Villa Crespo neighborhood next to Estadio Don León Kolbowski, the 15,000-capacity venue opened in 2019 and is managed by ASM Global. It is Argentina’s largest purpose-built concert arena and the country’s second-largest indoor venue.

Although the arena can host sports, theatre, and corporate events, its programming is dominated by live music. According to production manager Gustavo Perezlindo, Movistar Arena staged around 260 concerts in 2025 and is targeting approximately 280 shows this year, covering international, regional, and local artists.

Key announcement

The arena has invested in a permanent L-Acoustics sound system, supplied and integrated by Argentine distributor and systems integrator EXOSOUND. The move replaces previously rented L-Acoustics K1 and K2 systems that had been brought in by external providers since the venue opened.

The new design, created in L-Acoustics Soundvision software by Perezlindo together with EXOSOUND commercial director Julio Levinsonas and L-Acoustics Latin America application project engineer Alex Soto, centers on K Series mains paired with L Series out-fills and delays.

  • Left/right mains: 12 K1 over four K2 per side
  • Out-fills: three L2 over one L2D per side
  • Subwoofers: eight flown KS28 per side in cardioid configuration, plus 16 KS28 on the floor across the stage front
  • Front-fills: 20 Kara II in ten stacks of two along the stage lip

To cover the upper bowl, four L Series hangs provide delay reinforcement. Underbalcony coverage is handled by ten A10i Wide, five per side.

Hospitality areas and suites are served by 34 X6i coaxial loudspeakers, supported by five A10i units in the venue’s VISA Lounge. On stage, two A15 Focus over one A15 Wide per side, plus one KS28 each side on the floor, deliver side-fill, while X15 HiQ monitors are available as wedges for performers.

Power and processing are based on L-Acoustics amplified controllers and a Milan-AVB network. Ten LA-RAK II AVB racks with 30 LA12X units drive the K1, K2, KS28, and A15 enclosures. Seven LA-RAK III AVB racks with 21 LA7.16 power the L Series and Kara II, while three LA7.16i serve the X6i and A10i suite systems, and two LA4X drive the underbalcony A10i Wide.

The system runs over a Milan-AVB backbone with redundant P1 processors and LS10 AVB switches at the front end, designed to provide networked audio distribution and failover capability.

Industry impact

The installation strengthens Movistar Arena’s position as a key stop for international tours in South America. The venue already attracts a broad range of artists, with recent or upcoming bookings including Sting, Rod Stewart, Kylie Minogue, Jonas Brothers, Martin Garrix, Rosalía, Rubén Blades, Fatboy Slim, and others across rock, pop, electronic, and Latin genres.

By owning a full-scale touring-grade system, the arena aims to reduce reliance on visiting rental inventories while still meeting the rider expectations of global acts. The choice of a widely specified brand and model range is likely to simplify technical advance work for visiting production teams.

Logistics firm Grupo Operadores supported EXOSOUND in importing the equipment from France and coordinating installation and commissioning within the arena’s event schedule.

Why this matters

For event professionals, the upgrade highlights a broader shift toward large venues in Latin America investing in permanent, rider-ready sound systems instead of depending on third-party rentals for every major show.

For touring productions, a resident system of this scale can reduce setup time, rigging complexity, and overall transport costs, while offering predictable coverage and control in a challenging 15,000-seat environment with upper bowl, underbalcony, and suite areas.

The Milan-AVB implementation is also notable, reflecting growing adoption of networked audio standards in fixed installs, where redundancy and interoperability are becoming standard requirements for arenas.
