Excellent analog mixer with digital recordingLove the feel of a mixing desk! Getting around and getting to know it was fairly easy. Sound is excellent as well as use with my Mac and getting tracks to and fro. This is a great way to get away from your DAW!My first 4-track was a cassette 4-track in 1987. Using this Tascam gave me “that feeling again” as weird or cool as that may sound. So far, I’ve had no issues with use or function.

In the early stages of use as it was just delivered it’s very very coolI had a big headache getting this from Amazon but they came through and I appreciate that. The unit based on the size I would suggest that the manufacturer consider a bigger digital display. you have this gigantic piece of real estate and you have this small less than my cell phone size screen? That’s the only thing so far that I found I don’t like I’m just getting into it and I’m gonna be recording up a lot of stuff I may edit my review down the road

Great Product With a Few Little Headaches IncludedI am upgrading my review to 4 stars because finally I was able to work out the problems on my own. One of the problems is that it’s unclear whether or not the card is actually being formatted when you first insert a new one. I found out that whatever the function is that occurs when you first insert a card, it’s not formatting, and you still need to do that in order for the unit to record without disk write errors. I should say with less disk write errors because still after formatting I had a disk write error although the formatting seemed to greatly reduce the errors. In using this as an interface I wasn’t able to get it to work with Windows 7. It was only after I switched to Windows 10 that the driver and unit would work on my PC. Also when recording straight to daw I noticed a small amount of crosstalk between tracks / channels.I like how it sounds overall, as the preamps are pretty dang sweet! I’ve been able to make a few great sounding recordings with it so far. Overall it’s a pretty good recorder / interface with a few quirks that you’ll have to live with.

This has potentialThis has potential as a stand-alone but I wish that Tascam was more clear on which of their models are DAW CONTROLLERS. I bought the model 24 in hopes of controlling tracks on my DAW & using the 7 band EQ’s. Unfortunately after days of trying to figure out the formatting of the card to updating the firmware & following various video tutorials on turning this into a DAW controller, I came to find that model 24 is NOT a DAW controller. The only model that does this is Model 12. I only found this out after scrolling through comments on Tascam’s YouTube videos. Because of this I had to return it. I wish there were more affordable dual layer consoles that give you a hybrid of digital & analog sound, most are like $3,000+.. hopefully this helps someone else that was looking to do the same with their DAW.

Great BoardI love the board. It has a bit of a learning curve but is so nice to have controls accessible without dropping down menus. I do wish the screen was a little larger.

whatever you record does NOT have any of the effects.whatever you record does NOT have any of the effects. sounds great live but you get raw sound on recordings. the only way to get the effects in a recording is to send it out to another device. useless.

Glad the EQs can be adjusted as knobs, and not just in a computer menu! This is a great sounding mixer and recorder, useful for studio recording and live sound. 16 mic input channels are really fantastic! The mix can be heard on the output channels, fully EQd, while all channels can be recorded without being affected by the EQ or fader position. Perfect for well mixed and EQd live sound and at the same time, recording of a direct signal that can be EQd and mixed later in your favorite mixing software. The only small drawback is that phantom power is applied to all channels simultaneously, so if you have vintage ribbon mics that might be damaged by phantom power, you may not want to plug them into the phantom power carrying inputs; you need to put a phantom power blocker in between the mic and the input.

This thing is awesome..I’m beyond stoked and completely satisfied with my purchase, This Tasscam 24 is amazing, with the built-in audio interface, compressor, preamps, and equalizers you’re basically buying three or four different pieces of equipment in one. I was blown away by the analog sound quality when I ran my guitar and vocals through channels one and two for the first time. The one knob compressor sounds amazing, you just dial it into your taste, the equalizers with sweeping mid-band range is awesome. I have no doubt my band and I are going to be able to produce a studio quality sounding album off of this board.

Great piece of gearI love this thing. Preamps and EQ sounds great. The onboard effects are pretty decent. However, this thing could benefit from having an onboard metronome. Not a huge deal since you can use this as an interface with your DAW of choice. But for people like me who use this as a stand-alone recorder, a metronome would be awesome. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone from the semi-pro engineer to the bedroom artist. Happy recording!
