When I was a kid, getting tickets to an event required you to show your ID and wait in line at the box office. Print-at-home tickets became popularity in the year 2000, but they came with drawbacks such as the need to locate a printer and the anxiety of misplacing your folded paper ticket while traveling to the event. And good luck if you decided at the last minute to invite a friend to the event.

When iPhones became popular in 2007, mobile ticketing also took off and completely altered the event ticketing market. These days, all it takes to attend an event is to take out your phone, purchase a ticket, and scan in with a few thumb clicks. Unless the event is sold out, it’s easy for them to invite a buddy impromptu an hour in before.

Using mobile tickets has become the new standard, much as the switch from landlines to cellphones.

Advantages of Tickets via Mobile
Mobile ticketing is convenient and widely used. Think about a few advantages it offers to event planners and guests alike.

Final-Minute Access
Access at the last minute is one of the biggest benefits of mobile tickets. Suppose you receive an invitation from a few coworkers to attend a performance that evening on a Friday morning. You can purchase tickets for the train that will take you home from work instead of rushing to get to an office supply store or attempting to use the work printer covertly. All of your guests will desire access like this at the last minute.

Increased Security
The increased security of mobile ticketing is an additional advantage. In-person ticket holders must be closely inspected for photocopied documents, false IDs, and counterfeit tickets. These measures just impede admission and do little to lower the possibility of illegal entry. However, mobile tickets come with unique QR codes and NFC technology that not only make entrance easier but also shield your guests from fraud.
