Will multilingual events use AI-powered speech translation in the future?

According to recently released data, 94% of event planners claimed they would think about integrating AI into their live translation services. This is a significant majority of event planning professionals.

However, at the present, 70% of multilingual event planning experts utilize in-person professional simultaneous interpretation as THE most popular translation service.

The close second place goes to AI-powered voice translation at 67%, indicating that event planners are already thinking about the technology that would work best for the event they are putting on.

These findings are included in a special research that was released by Interprefy, the multilingual partner for event technology and services. The report polled the opinions of one thousand important decision-makers who work for multinational corporations worldwide in marketing, events, and project management roles.

By 2026–2027, the AI and machine translation market is expected to be worth $3 billion. The rise of hybrid working and the increase in companies looking to hire freelance teams and employees worldwide have fueled this change.

The CEO of Interprefy, Oddmund Braaten, commented on the study’s findings, saying, “It’s amazing how quickly AI-powered speech translation has gained traction since its introduction less than two years ago. It is crucial to note, nevertheless, that the survey also reveals that 53.5% of respondents use real multilingual captions, and 58% of respondents use remote simultaneous interpretation. This illustrates the range of multilingual technology that is currently accessible to professionals in event planning.
