Five trends and insights to watch in the event sector in 2024
What will the international events sector look like in 2024? Nobody is entirely certain of the answer to that question. However, given the current patterns and insights we’ve noticed over the past 12 months, we can make some educated judgments.
We’ll look at the five event trends that, in our opinion, will influence our sector in the upcoming year today. Both endless opportunities and a great deal of work remain, from appreciating the significance of technology to accepting a younger demographic to being realistic about hybrids, and more. So let’s get started by rolling up our sleeves.
Trend 1 in the event industry: Technology is a major enabler of events
Although technology has gradually become an essential component of most events, the early stages of the pandemic were actually event tech’s shining moment. Since there were very few options for in-person events, virtual delivery platforms ended up being the only means of enabling events. We were willing to overlook a few glitches in the delivery and audience experience as long as we got things right.
In 2024, technology continues to be viewed as the “great enabler” of the events business, even though a lot has changed since the lockdown period (we can’t believe it has been four years!). It was the only method to manage an event during COVID, but these days, efficiency and accomplishing more with less are key. Technology continues to be a key component in helping the events industry run more events well with fewer resources, from managing budgetary challenges brought on by rising inflation and cost-of-living factors to assisting professional event planners in addressing talent shortages.
