Event technology has made networking at events easier than ever before. With 82% of event organizers reporting to Event Manager Blog that their attendees’ key goal at an event is to network, it’s critical for event organizers to help attendees do just this.

It can be intimidating for attendees to make the first move and introduce themselves to a stranger, especially at events with thousands of attendees. Attendees might be concerned about meeting people who are relevant to their interests and careers, talking to competitors, or simply finding the time during your event to meet others.

Why Going Cashless Could Mean More Money for Your Fandom Event

Is your con still cash-only? Once fans realize your vendors don’t take credits cards and your ATMs have lines out the door, they’ll put their wallets away.

Don’t create extra hurdles — make it easy for fans to pay.

In fact, if you make it easy for fans to buy, you can drive significantly more revenue for your event. Eventbrite data shows that attendees using cashless RFID payments spend 2x more than those using cash or card.

What Apple Teaches Us About Using Video at Events

As I sit at my desk and type this article, the keynote presentation from Apple’s launch of the iPad Pro and upgraded MacBook Air from the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York livestreams on my split screen. A preproduced video rolls first, to give us background on the path Apple developers followed to create the latest device and on how the new product features can be used. When that’s done, the stage show that follows is masterful: expertly choreographed, akin to a network television program.

Virtual Reality Is the New Meeting Reality

The world of entertainment has been thrilling audiences with augmented and virtual reality for two decades, from early theme park “dark” rides like Spiderman’s journey up and down buildings at Universal Studios, one of the first rides requiring 3-D glasses, to the VOID’s Star Wars, Secrets of the Empire immersive virtual reality experience. For meeting planners without the kind of budget available to the makers of roller coasters and video games, VR may not seem like a viable tool to engage and educate event attendees.

Virtual Reality Check – what it is, what it isn’t and how it can shape your event

Virtual Reality (VR) is a hot buzzword in both technology and event circles right now. Like most new technology, it takes some time to understand all the possible applications and determine the best uses for each industry.

Virtual Reality refers to a computer generated or 360° video environment (or hybrid of both) that a viewer can explore freely, usually while wearing a VR headset. VR creates a world the viewer can explore as if they were really walking around in it.
