InFocus 🇺🇸

📍 Portland, Oregon, USA
🏢 Founded 1986
🌍 Inventors of the Digital Projector

Company Overview

In 1986, a team of engineers in Portland’s Silicon Forest imagined there must be a better way to share information. Founded on this belief, InFocus went on to create new ways to present information and collaborate beyond overhead projection, combining digital technology with light to advance how and what we can display in many powerful ways. InFocus is the inventor of the digital projector.

Many firsts followed, including the first DLP projector, the first sub-five-pound projector, the first ultra-thin projection television, the first all-in-one interactive whiteboard with touch technology, video conferencing, and many more milestones that have contributed to creating a multi-billion-dollar display industry.

Today, InFocus continues to build upon that legendary heritage. While massive competitors emerged, InFocus remains a staple in classrooms, boardrooms, and agile meeting spaces, continually refining the technology that they fundamentally brought into existence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is InFocus still making projectors?
Yes. While the industry has grown massively since they invented the category, InFocus continues to manufacture a full line of DLP, LCD, and advanced Laser projectors targeting the education and SMB markets.
What is the difference between DLP and LCD in InFocus models?
DLP (Digital Light Processing) uses millions of microscopic mirrors on a single chip, generally offering higher contrast and sealed optics (no filters to clean). LCD uses three liquid crystal panels and generally offers higher color brightness. InFocus manufactures both.
Does InFocus still make the Mondopad?
Yes, the Mondopad line evolved into their JTouch series of interactive flat panels, which are heavily utilized in modern classrooms as direct replacements for older interactive whiteboards.
