DTS Lighting 🇮🇹

📍 Misano Adriatico, Italy
🏢 Founded 1980
🌍 Italian-Crafted Stage & Architectural Fixtures

Company Overview

DTS (Illuminazione) is a highly respected, deeply traditional Italian lighting manufacturer. Unlike many brands that outsource their manufacturing to Asia, DTS is fiercely proud of engineering, machining, and assembling their fixtures entirely within their massive facility in Italy. This absolute control over the manufacturing process results in incredibly robust, high-fidelity fixtures.

For decades, DTS was a massive OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) building parts for other famous lighting brands. However, they eventually stepped into the spotlight with their own proprietary lines of high-end moving heads and architectural wash lights. They are particularly famous for their extreme IP65-rated outdoor fixtures, which permanently illuminate historic Italian monuments, massive bridges, and high-end outdoor concert stages.

DTS occupies a brilliant sweet spot in the industry: they offer the unparalleled optical purity and color mixing expected from elite Italian design, but often at a price point that makes them highly accessible to large regional production companies and permanent television studios.

Core Technologies

🌊
FPR (Free Pan Rotation)
A revolutionary mechanical slip-ring system designed by DTS that allows the moving head to spin continuously on its Pan axis infinitely, without ever having to stop and reverse to untangle internal cables.
🛡️
Extreme Marine Grade IP65
DTS architectural fixtures undergo brutal anti-corrosion treatments, allowing them to be permanently installed outdoors near saltwater oceans or in harsh snowy environments without rusting or failing.
🎨
HQS (High Quality Spectrum)
A proprietary LED color mixing algorithm that specifically focuses on generating incredible pastel colors and pure, flat white light with massive CRI, making them a favorite for broadcast TV lighting directors.

Featured Solutions

Synergy Series
DTS’s flagship moving head profile. Available in standard and ultra-bright variants, featuring incredible framing shutters, a massive zoom range, and perfect Italian optics for theatrical projection.
Katana
A legendary, award-winning LED bar fixture. It features a custom motorized tilt and an insanely tight 3.5-degree lens, creating a solid ‘blade’ of light that slices through the air at concerts.
Alchemy Series
A highly advanced LED wash fixture designed specifically for television and theater, featuring a 6-color LED engine (RGBALC) to perfectly match skin tones on camera.

Ideal Industry Deployments

🏛️ Historic Monument Illumination
🎭 Theatrical & Opera Houses

Frequently Asked Questions

What does FPR (Free Pan Rotation) actually do for a light show?
Standard moving heads can only spin about 540 degrees before the internal wires pull tight, forcing the fixture to abruptly stop and spin back the other way. DTS’s FPR system uses electrical slip-rings, allowing the head to spin in circles forever, creating dizzying, continuous tornado effects for EDM festivals.
Are DTS fixtures actually manufactured in Italy?
Yes. While many companies design in Europe and assemble in China, DTS is highly unique in that they machine the metal, assemble the electronics, and test the optics entirely in-house at their factories in Misano Adriatico, Italy.
Why is the DTS Katana so popular?
The Katana uses highly specialized lenses that focus the LED light into a razor-thin, unbroken line. When lined up in a row on a stage, they create a literal wall or ‘blade’ of light that can tilt back and forth, a visual effect that was completely groundbreaking upon its release.
