🌍 Global Leader in 3LCD Technology

Company Overview

From pioneering the world’s first compact lightweight digital printer, the EP-101, to inventing the world’s first quartz watch, Epson has continued to produce innovative and services based on its efficient, compact, and precision technologies. As a global technology leader, Epson Projector creates and delivers technology solutions for businesses and consumers, from inkjet printers and digital printing systems to 3LCD projectors, smart glasses, sensing systems, and industrial robots.

Epson was established in 1961 under the name of Shinshu Seiki (Shinshu Precision Manufacturing Company) to provide precision parts for Seiko watches. The company was awarded a contract to make precision timers for the 1964 Olympics. And also picked up work to build a printer as well.

Epson, the world’s most popular projector manufacturer, offers a wide range of display and communication solutions that let people work together more effectively. There is no need to compromise on image quality or video quality when using these projectors in lecture halls, auditoriums, sanctuaries, special events, or digital signage applications of all kinds.

Core Technologies

🌈
3LCD Core Technology
Unlike single-chip DLP projectors that rely on a spinning color wheel, Epson engineers 3LCD technology, which uses three dedicated chips (Red, Green, Blue) continuously. This eliminates the ‘rainbow effect’ and ensures colors are vastly brighter.
💡
Equal Color & White Brightness
Because of the 3LCD engine, Epson projectors output the exact same number of lumens in Color as they do in White light, resulting in intensely vibrant, accurate images even in brightly lit rooms.
👓
Moverio Smart Glasses
Leveraging their massive expertise in micro-projection, Epson developed Moverio—advanced Augmented Reality (AR) glasses that project high-resolution digital overlays directly into the user’s field of vision.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ‘Rainbow Effect’ and why does Epson claim to prevent it?
Many competing DLP projectors use a rapidly spinning color wheel to create an image, which can cause some viewers to see flashing rainbow artifacts when they blink or move their eyes. Because Epson uses 3LCD technology (which mixes red, green, and blue constantly), the rainbow effect is physically impossible.
What is 4K PRO-UHD?
It is Epson’s proprietary pixel-shifting technology. Rather than using an incredibly expensive native 4K chip, the projector uses high-resolution HD chips and shifts every pixel diagonally by half a pixel in milliseconds, delivering a visibly 4K experience at a fraction of the cost.
Does Epson make their own lenses?
Yes. Epson is heavily vertically integrated, meaning they manufacture everything from the micro-LCD panels to the precision glass optics in-house, ensuring absolute quality control across the massive Pro L-series ecosystem.
