Build and sound Quality superb, but may be offputting for first time audio users
This isn’t as simple as the Blue Yeti. Had I bought this 5 years ago when I had no knowledge of computers, I would never have been able to set it up even with a manual. Even when I bought it just over a year ago I had little to no audio knowledge and didn’t really understand the 48V button. It takes a bit to get used to its quirks, like I suspect all audio devices – Specifically, what volume is considered ‘normal.’ You have to listen to other audio productions a lot, at different volumes, to properly understand if your audio is at a normal level with the knob set ‘80% up.’Additionally, it has a bright green light when plugged in that can be annoying when the pc is idiling at night – When all the lights are turned off in a room, the green is bright enough to dimly, yet noticeably, illuminate the entire ~17X17 area it faces. A piece of opaque duct tape does the trick.

  4. Michael

    Serves no discernable function
I couldn’t plug directly into my 2 laptops or my pc, so I bought the focusrite solo because it claims its specifically for recording guitar, which is what I want to do. It does not record guitar at all. 3 pc’s several versions of drivers, new windows drivers, upgrading from windows 10 to windows 11. Hours of youtube videos and trouble shooting guides. Doesn’t do anything. at all. It recorded once for about 5 seconds. It was very poor quality and the volume varies like a Tremelo. I found hundreds of people saying the same thing. Not sure why they sell a product that doesn’t work with PC’s perhaps it works with mac’s but I’ll never find that out. Don’t waste your money. I bought the Motu, a bunch of similar story’s about that one too, but many more people saying it actually works. fingers crossed.

    Does its job!
Works great, Low latency, Good sound and pre amps. Fairly easy to set up. Just download the Focusrite drivers from their website and you’re good to go! Highly recommended for beginners and amateurs.
