Would give 6 stars!Voice dictating this review using a Rode microphone running through the Rode AI micro adapter. I’ve had it for 48 hours so far and it’s solved three major sound problems that I haven’t been able to fix for years. The first is that it makes the microphone work in my iPad Pro (USB C) not only for Siri dictation (as I’m doing at this moment), but also works in my EMR application which has cloud-based dictation (dragon medical one) embedded. Also works for Backpack which is a podcasting app. Sound quality is excellent. Also plugs into my iPhone and runs Siri dictation and Backpack – and plugs into my PC to provide audio for video recording I do at work. Three problems solved!

Doesn’t work with DiscordI ordered this mainly to use with Discord on iOS on the iPad Pro. However, it simply refuses to work because it is not recognized as a headset. It seems to be a limitation on iOS regarding call audio. The iPad just immediately swaps to the built in mic/speaker as soon as you join a call. The AI Micro works in literally every other app I tried. It worked perfectly well on my PC. It does the same thing on my android phone too so it seems to be a limitation of Discord.It’s the smallest audio interface I’ve ever come across which means its great for recording on phones. I can also imagine using this with my vr headset and a lav mic.——Edit: I got the AI Micro to work on my Samsung S8+ by toggling a developer option in Android that was disabling USB audio devices. However, it still doesn’t work in Discord since it seems mobile discord will only use ‘headsets’.

Good device, but software is almost uselessEthics statement: I paid full price. No conflicts of interest.This device allows me to make pretty good recordings with my phone and an external mic. I’m using a Pixel 6 XL and an Audio Technica AT-822, using the TRS cable plugged into input #1 on the Røde, configured to record in stereo from that plug. For playback I usually use my studio audio system, which is a pair of JBL 305P Mark II speakers driven by BluDento AptX HD Bluetooth receiver.You may wish to read the reviews of the Røde Reporter app that the company offers to configure and use this device. Constantly freezes, unresponsive, hinders rather than helps with using the hardware. It will allow you to configure the device, and then it will interfere with whatever app you decide to make your recordings with, so you will want to close this software and open something better before you make recordings.Another complaint: The Røde hardware will claim to your device that it can do audio output as well. It can’t. Your audio output will disappear into the void. So my startup procedure: plug this device into my phone, the Røde app will open, so then I close it and open my preferred recording app. Record. On first playback, swipe down to access android’s tray: audio apps usually have a tray notifier, which in the upper right corner will have an output device chooser. Choose the correct output device there. Then everything works great until I unplug and replug the device.

I plugged it in and it worked with Android and IMM-6 mic. Really!With devices like this I am used to hacking around until I find the magic trick that makes it work. Not here. I plugged it into a samsung tab A8, fired up my favorite RTA app, and bam, instant mini test setup. Just like that. I am very pleasantly shocked.

Works for social media lives!So happy to finally find a product that works with two mics on TikTok and Instagram lives. I tried using a standard splitter with my iPhone, but it saw one side as headphones and not two microphones. I bought this product after looking forever for “iPhone mic splitter 2 microphones etc” I found nothing. Then someone mentioned this product on TikTok. It was still hard to find. Rode really needs to up the SEO for this product on Google. It is a very light weight product which is good not the weigh down the cable coming out of the phone. You will need to download the Rode Central app for it to work, which is an auto-process when you plug it into the phone. Then make your audio output choices on the app, separate channels or one mixed, headphones on or off. Super easy to navigate. No problems with audio quality when urging the headphones or in the recording. Very happy. Will update this review if any issues comes up.

Ehh didn’t solve my problem…Doesn’t work for what I wanted it for. All I was looking for was a device that could be used as an audio interface for my social audio apps. As this unit doesn’t take full priority of the audio on the iPhone most apps will default to there own inputs and outputs ie wisdom app won’t let me choose where audio goes and thus keeps me from using my own settings. Would have been nice to use this as a middle part to connect to my mixer but as for software it just causes unknown issues that have to be troubleshooted. Maybe it’s ahead of it’s time and it’s just a waiting period before things work or rode could just make an app that overrides all the audio settings for you… who knows. As of now it’s only main purpose is for doing audio recordings directly to your iPhone with a lavalier mic or something close to that.

Buzzing!I tried three different microphones with this. No matter which one I use, there is a constant, infernal buzzing sound that will not go away. I tried using the high-pass filters also, but there was no change. I love the idea behind this little thing, so please make one that is actually suitable for audio recording!

Doesn’t work with Filmic proI can’t get Filmic Pro to recognize the AI Micro at all. Works with voice recording apps, but can’t get it to work with video apps. Pretty much useless to me for video, great for audio only.
