Description
High-performance 48V phantom-powered active direct box designed for higher output instruments. It’s digital switching power supply significantly increases headroom and allows for less distortion while yielding a smooth, linear response. Its wide bandwidth (20Hz to over 100kHz) results in natural, uncolored signal transfer. Has 15dB pad. The Radial Pro48’s innovative digital switching power supply significantly increases headroom and allows for less distortion while yielding a smooth, linear response extending from 20Hz to well above 100kHz resulting in natural, uncolored signal transfer. This superior performance makes the Pro48 an ideal candidate for use with today’s battery-powered active basses and acoustic guitars that tend to overload other direct boxes. The compact Pro48 is built road-ready with 14-gauge steel in a unique bookend design that provides protective zones around the switches and connectors. The internal welded I-beam construction assures outside stress will not torque the PC board thus assuring longer product life. Pro48 – typical applications The Pro48 is designed for high-use applications wherever an active direct box is called for. A 15dB pad switch is provided to tame hot signal and expands the range of instrument preamps and the ground lift switch helps eliminate hum and buzz problems caused by ground loops.

Excellent DIExactly as Radial describes, the guts of a J48 without all the bells and whistles. Means great durability and sound quality for an even better price. These are now my go-to DI for stage applications. The pad makes it workable with active preamps and line level instruments so there is no active/passive question to worry about. To the 1&2star reviews. Active DI’s require phantom and these do not take batteries. That could make it appear to be DOA if you don’t know what you’re doing. Phantom also spotlights crappy cables. You’ll get crackling and popping with an intermittent phantom power connection. I use these with good quality connectors and I seriously doubt one would make it out of the factory with a bum XLR jack causing a loose connection. The description of the problem sounds like you’re using a cheap and/or abused cable that needs replacing.

I do not personally use this in the studio (don’t have any reason to) but live this unit sounds great for DI from an acoustic guitar or other low-output …One of the standard pieces of audio gear every engineer should own. I do not personally use this in the studio (don’t have any reason to) but live this unit sounds great for DI from an acoustic guitar or other low-output instrument. I wouldn’t use this for an active instrument like keyboards or line-out on a bass amp, I would use the Radial Passive DI box for that.Radial DI boxes are great, really good quality and built like tanks. I do not worry about them breaking while on the road. They also sound good enough to be used in a studio with some good pres.

It’s a great active diGreat di. The thru output is very useful. You can split your signal. The thru goes to your amp and the di goes to your audio interface. That way you can record the amp and a clean di track simultaneously. No hum or buzz either with the ground lift. Nice having the pad too for louder high output pickups.

Don’t hesitateI wish I had bought this sooner! My 5th DI box to try on our bass guitars. Our single coil players always struggled with noise. This bad boy solved it. You get what you pay for!

Good Quality DI box.Used this for the first time last week at our church. It functioned well. It seems to feel like quality overall. It was used for bass guitar and everyone seemed pleased with its tonal quality.
