Mac OSX Camera Software has issues
The camera is recognized on my Mac, picture quality is good, nice color and resolution. Audio is marginal, but that’s not what I bought this camera for so I’m okay with that.The selling point of this camera is 1) upgradable firmware and 2) extended picture control through the software utility. In both of these areas, there are some issues as I am writing this review in late November 2020.The firmware update utility only works on a PC, there is no Mac version available. While it would be nice to think that I might be able to update firmware, it looks like as a Mac user for now I am out of luck. I suppose I can live with that, as all seems to work well.The bigger issue is the settings utility. It’s near impossible to find on the PTZ Optics Website. I had to google search for “PTZOptics download” and then from that page figure out that I needed the Webcam Config Tool. Initially I got version 2, which would not open on my Mac. After an Email exchange with the support department, they put up version 1.1 on that page, which mostly works, but has one very important flaw: It won’t let me control manual exposure fully. I am able to set white balance, and most of the other settings I need, but the exposure control which is essential for my use, isn’t working right as of now.I’ve once again contacted support and we shall see if they can address the exposure control issue in the software.Having said all that, the camera does provide a nice picture with relatively little noise. Having control of most of the other picture parameters is great, and works as expected.

Rocket Science?
I cannot say that this is bad, just that I could never figure out how to make it work. For me it is just another webcam, as I cannot get the PTZ portion to work with any of my computers, so it is just a wide angle webcam that produces a pretty clear capture and the entire room behind me. But since I can’t control it, it shows too much of my body and the room to use for work. Fortunately the price was right and I wouldnt be surprised if my kids or a more tech saavy person would love this. It seems to be a good quality so this review is not a hate. One thing I did appreciate is I sent an email to their tech support and they responded the next morning with a manual. While the manual only increased my confusion, the response was appreciated. So, if you work with cameras or are strong with understanding software without much help, you may love this. But if you don’t have hours to invest in getting it set up, you probably could do a lot better with a basic web cab.BTW – the picture is clear and the mic is good.

Excellent brightness and color correction!
I bought 4+ cameras from Amazon, many of them are marked best sellers. But PTZOptics obviously outperforms the others in brightness and color correction:Brightness – I placed the camera while I’m back to the window. Many other cameras would make my face extremely dark while this camera would show my face clear and bright.Color correction – My room has green walls and cherry colored furniture. It’s interesting that many other cameras would confuse the colors and do not show the green color right. This camera doesn’t have any color distortion.I took one star off because – it’s not the best camera for voice recording. If I place the camera on top of my monitor, one could barely hear my voice during video conferencing. I have to move it closer, using a stand on my desk so that my voice can be loud enough.

What an improvement!
This webcam is a HUGH improvement over any built-in webcam. It is truly a plug-and-play piece of equipment on my iMac. Immediately it was recognized by a variety of apps. OBS, Zoom, BlueJeans, Blackboard Collaborate, Loom, Webex, and Microsoft Team all picked it up as an option without me having to go into preferences once. (Yes, I have had meetings on all of these. All I need is another meeting on a different platform. Hmm, I wonder if Guniess has considered this as a new category.) The picture quality is amazingly crystal clear. I like the 20mm screw as it gives me options for a tripod or on screen. One word of caution, it has a wider angle of vision, so you may have to hide more stuff from view.

Good wide angle webcam
Works well. After zooming in, you can do some panning of the image shown and save presets. Unfortunately the field of view is not adjustable. We have situations where used by a single person and narrower would be better. Works very well for multiple people or in rooms.

Love the Webcam
I finally found a Webcam that meets my needs! The picture quality is top-notch; the Zooming capability works with the simple to use interface (the software is very basic, I might add; yet, it meets my needs). The instructions are very generic and those instructions apply to the fancier camera systems they sell. The Webcam, for example, does not require the IP address or a firmware upgrade to work. Very happy with the camera!!!

Terrific videotaping
I’m an actor, and must often do auditions on zoom. My desk faces a big window with lots of light coming in which blew out my face with my previous camera.The PTZ optics camera adjusts beautifully for all that daylight, lens closes down automatically and gives me great skintonehighly highly recommended

Quality is fine but not excellent. Then again I’m not a model so perhaps that’s easier on the eyes of the people I conference with.It works.Buying it supports China so there’s that.

OSD
OSD display was hard to view with MacOS, because it was backward. Also OSD is best to view in 16:9. It would have been nice to know this and to have seen the menu in the instructions. As before I found some of these things out, I was trying to navigate the OSD backwards and with parts cut off.
