Best “window” camera on the market so farWe tried a few other “window mounted” cameras on the market out there with less than stellar results, so far after 3 months of use this one is the best out there. Why a window mounted one? We currently rent a home, so no alterations to the doorbell, peephole, doors, or exterior of the home can be altered for security cameras so we really needed a security camera that was window mounted. As you can see in the photo this is what the view out looks like at night with an exterior light on as the camera captured our neighborhood skunk passing through at 3 am.The setup is easy, they mounted and have stay affixed no problem (though I do follow the instructions and re-affix monthly just to be sure). The software itself is basic, has some nice customization features with alerts, setting the detection zones, etc same as most other cameras out there. The person recognition has only once misidentified a squirrel as a person, though in fairness the sun was glaring and the squirrel did pop into the field of view out of nowhere. Other than that I have the cameras to only alert us of a person and they done exactly that. Even after reviewing the captured footage daily for three months now it has never once failed to recognize a human was in the field of view, so +1 for that.No idea why people are reviewing that you cannot download the videos because you can and it is very simple to do so without having to remove the micron SD cards. Video quality is great during the day, good a night even in low light, the camera is a wide angle view so you at times get a fish eyed view, but the idea here is the capture any humans, not candid nature videos for National Geographic. I purchased the recommended micro SD cards (SDXC 256GB), cards were on sale as were these cameras, so two cards and two cameras set set me back just under 200 bucks total. The good news is there is no subscription needed so that some random company can store the images online for you, they are stored locally on the SD cards and yes you have to maintain that by formatting the cards or deleting all the files (just completely formatting remotely is easier and faster btw). The downside and main reason for 4 stars is because while you do not need a subscription to a service these cameras are not isolated to just your personal Wi-Fi network, the cameras will stop working if and when the Panasonic servers are down and the Panasonic team is only available during the week, could not get an actual human during an outage on the weekend. I switched my home lighting setup to Phillips hub system because I DO NOT want to rely on a remote server being operational in order to be protected or functional. Panasonic did not tell me why these cameras rely on a remote server other than somehow it is related to the app, not the actual cameras. The cameras did still capture everything when the servers were down but with the app not connecting to them we received zero alerts during the two day outage. I have had Wyze, Ring and Blink cameras and all of them had server issues at least 2-3 times per year so the problem is not unique to Panasonic but still a but disappointing as they market these to being off the grid and self functioning but they really are not.Other than the the one server outage on the weekend, zero other issues. Easy to set up, easy to add multiple devices including a table (tablet software still displays like a phone btw, annoying but not end of the world bad), no monthly or annual fees, good picture quality, decent features and fair price if you can pick them up around 100 bucks. If you do not want your videos stored on a third party server and need a window mount camera, these are for you, hands down better than anything window mounted from the inside that are out there right now.

I love it!!!!I love it!!!! I put the camera on our garage door window, using the blue wide masking tape, a extension cord and some hooks that the camera stays on the window and the cord won’t touch on anything when garage door opens. It works out great looking over our driveway. I wish I could angle down a little bit, but I still like the fact that the camera is securely installed inside of the window, I don’t need to worry about the battery, and on the top of it, there is no monthly fees (WooHooooo!!!)!!Like many reviewers say, the app could have some improvements probably because I’m used to Ring app. (I have a Ring Doorbell Pro.) I wish I could delete the video clips in the “recording list” by swiping it out (or check multiple photos to delete them all at once). Setting up the camera in the app is a bit confusing. First, you need to turn on your location on your device. Then I suggest you to be near router when you connect your camera to your wifi, then the camera to your device following the in-app step-by-step installation guide. After you finished setting up the connections, then you can simply unplug the camera and take it to wherever you want to install it. Once wifi is all connected, you can easily plug/unplug the camera from the power outlet and no need to set up the wifi again and again like Ring Doorbell cameras which is very frustrating.(UPDATES: I found a quick delete selection in the app! “Show All”>”Select”. And I started to like this app as I’m getting used to it! I lower the sensitivity on my motion detection, but there are still a lot of videos recorded. What I like about this app is that I can chose “Person Only” recordings to review the recordings. That way, I don’t have to waste my time looking for the ones that shows some human activities in my property. Another option that I like is that I can easily protect some of the video clips with one click. I used to use Ring app. That’s why it took for me to get used to the Homwhawk app. But now I actually like this app better than Ting app. It’s well coordinated once you get used to it. )It takes some delay to watch the live view, but I personally think it’s slightly faster than Ring. (It depends on my wifi strength too.) But it doesn’t really matter to me since I don’t have to “answer” to the camera activities. If there is any action going on, then the camera is already recording the activities anyway. So I won’t worry about the little delay so much.My garage windows are all tinted dark. But the picture quality is excellent even at night! We have a street light 2 houses away across the street which seems to give enough lighting for our camera to be able to pick up the images in color! (I don’t even have the highest quality setting.) I also lower the motion sensitivity but it catches all of the activities in the area I chose. There is no microphone on this camera. So the noises won’t trigger the recordings. Your privacy inside of your house is protected.I purchased 128GB of micro SD card for the camera as Amazon suggested, and it’s working just fine although I later noticed that the camera is supposed to take up to 64GB of micro SD card as some reviewers stated.I can choose if I want to turn the LED light (which is located on back of the camera) on/off in the app, and there is no light shown in front of it.My daughter also downloaded the app to check her car on the driveway. It seems like up to 4 devices can be connected to this camera at once.Overall, I’m so happy with the purchase! I don’t have to worry about my neighbor getting on to our camera when I’m setting it up as they have no idea when we are setting it up. (My neighbor who also has the Ring doorbell has sneakily gotten on to our camera once (this really happened) when I had hard time setting up our Ring Doorbell Pro for the first time. Now I know why I had a hard time connecting it because they were stealing our Ring signal before we were trying to connect with it. Creep!) Even we get power outage, this camera would just reconnect the wifi itself when the power is back. You can relocate this camera anywhere you want in your house. You don’t need to recharge the battery. It’s Panasonic. They are good and I trust many of their products!Lastly, I’d like to request to Panasonic to make more products like the doorbell cameras, the outdoor motion detection driveway/front porch alarms (with no camera–to be less expensive), and less expensive window cameras, outdoor gate camera (like a peeping hole camera with weather proof) which all come with wired or wireless. I would definitely buy more Panasonic products to protect all around my property!Anyways, I’m really happy with the purchase, and HIGHLY recommend it. It’s impressive!!

Purpose SpecificAs a person who is not tech savy and has no experience with home protection products, I can say the device has proved right for my particular circumstance. I’ve seen reviews that say you cannot download video direct to your phone. Panasonic must have listened to previous reviewers since the product I recievied can download both video and pictures directly to my phone no matter where I’m at.. The video quality is not great as you would expect from this price point but I can identify familiar people and other objects like vechicles. I espescially like the fact that in a duplex community, its incognito and nobody notices what I have stuck to my window. If asked, I can say as another reviewer suggested, “it’s an antenna”. Having nothing to compare, I’d say it works great in my particular enviroment since obvious outdoor cameras would cause a problem. It’s great for me.

These cameras are great!I bought these cameras in 12/2021 and it has taken a few months of experimenting with the different settings and positions in 4 of my windows and viewing angle placements on four entry points of the sides of my house. Not good for above ground level apartments or 2nd story dwellings. I wish the cameras had the ability to tilt and pan, at least a little, I still have some blind spots but major views of most important places. They are very sensitive to motion detection so there are constant motion detections it picks up and records even though I have it set only for “person detection” only and works well with the only have 2 bars of the signal strength.Often light reflecting off the window and from outside car lights passing by will set off a “person detected” warning. The Set Detection option works only for up close views in the front vs. the background areas, so using that will blot out what the camera catches up front as well. Even on the very low setting, the cameras pick up windy branches moving, dripping rain drops, birds and of course critters for motion detected.Picture quality is amazing, clear and detailed, even at night. I can see up the street and beyond depending on the daylight hours, and if I zoom in up close, although the clarity diminishes more than 50 feet away. The clear views at night are enhanced with a separate motion detector already installed. Wary of battery replacement, I love the electrical power cord option and the SD storage disk, having no subscription. I used an extension cord where needed. I love the different options in the app for recording and formatting which I have to do daily because there are so many motion detections. However, I’ve learned how to speed through “Rapid Playback” viewing the videos on the fast forward button and having it set to record when motion is first detected. It’s become easy to locate actual motions in the alerts to view and the various select and delete options. I love how the videos can be viewed in time blocks or singular views. I love being able to download to my iPad for larger screen viewing or to keep. I have not used the permanent attachment strips to hold the cameras in the windows yet because I open two of the windows outward in warm weather. It’s a good idea to remove and replace the camera ever so often as directed and you get reminders to do this in the app. Also, the sticky pad has detached from the face of one of the cameras and I will have to replace the suction cup eventually or apply the camera with the permanent strips. Not sure how long the suction cups last. The camera detached from the window. If your window gets a lot of sun, the camera can heat up from the constant running. The camera is set to record when movement is detected, I may have to play with this feature setting some more. There are a few seconds at the start of viewing a recording where the white task bar is up and blocks the view and I wish I could delay or turn it off, even though it slides down out of place, you loose a few seconds at the very start of video viewing. I still like these cameras and am learning the various features in the app. Because these cameras work pretty well, I wish Panasonic/HomeHawk would improve their Indoor Floor camera (sound issue, lighting issue) for indoors and make a similar quality. I like the ability to control lighting from a distance. Also make a better more compact, two-way sound, with siren wired or wireless, microSD card, outdoor camera also to be used with their app. The one that they have is large and bulky, has motion detector light built in and I already have that, it is also reachable for tampering with.I recommend these cameras for single level homes with ground level windows and door windows. They cost a bit more. No subscription needed, storage slot up to 240 GB, time stamp, LED status control, works on your network, works away from home (not sure out of state, will see), gives warnings on the phone within seconds in the app, overwrite recording option and other settings I am still reviewing.

It’s better security than a motion sensing light but only just.Pros:+Clarity of setup instructions.+Ease of installation.+Indoor installation.+Ability to create custom modes (assembling a mode by picking from given finite presets).+Notification promptness. Many times I received notifications while hearing the vehicles which prompted the notifications begin to pass my house.+Notification selections (All motion, Person only, Off).+Records to micro Sdxc.+Videos were able to still be recorded with notifications off.+Many video duration selections.+This camera can record 24/7. The estimated time recording 24/7 given for my 128gb micro sdxc card was 5-7 days.+Low light responsivenessCons:-Video quality is sub expectations.Moving cars become some elongated or truncated make and model you’ve never imagined (25mph street).I would not be able to confidently pick persons on the sidewalk out of a line up with this camera unless they were to come up and stop in front of the camera and say cheese.A person who is slow to notice the camera may have their likeness captured if they are snooping close in front of it.You can recognize neighbors if you are familiar with them (style, gait, vehicles). The camera captures impressions more than details. In my mind this camera is just a really fancy motion sensor.-Reconnecting after a power interruption can be hands on. Don’t assume you will save yourself a trip to the back of the camera if you set this up on your desk first and then unplug and move it to the window.- Camera fan is noisy! This is the biggest gripe I have about this camera so far. I could not rest until I had unplugged the camera. It is either getting moved to another room or being returned. The fan noise is not dissimilar to a small PC fan. However the fan pulses and this was making the blinds rattle with a noise which sounded like a cellphone vibrating on a table or the worlds smallest revving car. It was intolerable. Camera cannot be used with blinds if you want the optimal level of quietness from the fan.”VvvVvvVvvvvvVvvVvvvVvvvvv”- says the camera.Summary:Some good features here which are hard to find but which are also muddied by lower than expected image quality. This leaves me feeling like someone who lost a fifty dollar bill.I dont feel like I lost the full $150 but some irksome issues do detract from the value.I probably would not mind the cons if I bought this camera as merely something better than a motion sensing security light and had only paid in the $90-$110 range. In December of 2022 this feels overpriced at $150 for the image quality but if you see it for $100 or less I would get it.______The cropped image is one of a paused frame from a video the homehawk created. I would not be able to identify that vehicle without a shadow of a doubt.

Better than Nest, Ring, or any other wireless cameras Ive ownedCameras have great viewing angel (2 replaced 4 wired cameras), app is responsive and doesnt freeze like my Ring or Nest, allows you to customize alert types (person, motion, detection zone, etc.) per mobile device and per camera, so household members can decided what, if any, notifications they want, has local storage on an sd card, you decide if it records on motion or 24/7 but it marks on playback screen where it saw people, cameras are easy to setup, great night vision, compatible with google assistant and alexa show for viewing, custom settings for port forwarding, MTU, TCP or UDP mobile access for technical people with more complex networks, just works. Compatible on 2.4 and 5 Ghz wifi, as long as mobile device and camera are on same band or router allows devices on different bands to communicate. I did have issues at one house that had a tmobile fixed 5G router/wifi so I used a Google AP (which fixed a lot of other non-related issues at that location). I wish Panasonic would broaden their camera and home security product line and advertise these, I found them browsing cyber monday, later that evening I had vandals/thieves destroy 5 4k FLIR external cameras at a second home so I grabbed these to try before the sale ended, paid $100, wouldnt hesitate to pay $150-200+ if I need more.

Must HaveI am so pleased and amazed with this camera. Night vision is perfection and clear! I am blown away by the range/area that this camera covers. I have to purchase additional ones. Also I love the alerts/notications that I receive by phone and when you check the alerts/replays a box appears to show you precisely where the motion/object is detected. The live feed is also clear. I’m telling you I am blown away by this device!! This camera has given me so much insight on what is going on in my surroundings, then the other security cameras I have in place. This has become my number 1!!!

Super Security Camera That May be One Of A Kind . . . .I’m not sure how I came across this camera, unless it was an Amazon daily deal. Even doing a search for “window security camera” does not bring up this Panasonic camera. It doesn’t bring up any type of window security camera. Is this the only one out there? Whatever, it is exactly the type of camera I have wanted for years. In fact, when I got the Panasonic HomeHawk floor camera a while back, I tried to see if it would work through a window. It did not. For me, a window camera is perfect. No installation problems or expense, no wiring needed, no batteries that needed to be replaced in cameras hung high, no weather problems. No, you just stick this window camera to a window inside with the powerful suction cups, or you can use the included double sided sticky tape. You will then see a live crystal clear colored picture of outdoors day and night.I have mine in a front dining room window, where I can see anyone coming on to the front porch, part of the porch, part of the front yard, part of the driveway and cars passing on the street. When the camera detects movement or people, it starts filming. It stops when the movement or person is gone, and never has continued taping blowing leaves or anything like that for very long. When you look at the recordings, you even have the option of seeing only ones with a person in them. (However, if movement set off the camera first, while it will keep filming if a person enters the picture, that recording may be listed under “motion””, instead of “person”.)Detection sensitivity can be adjusted, too, as can the detection area. The camera will show a grid of the detection area, and you just put an “x” in each box you don’t want the camera to focus on. Playback is easy, as well as deleting individual recordings. Just remember to notice the date arrows that take you back to the day before. You can also lock in recordings you don’t want deleted and take a picture of any part of a recording. If the micro memory card gets filled, the camera starts recording over old recordings. (I’m using the Samsung PRO Endurance 128GB 100MB/s (U1) MicroSDXC Memory Card.)So far, I’ve had no problem with the camera falling off he window, and I did not apply the tape. The window is a thick glass one that does not open, and is sheltered from the elements, so there is no condensation on it ever, or intense heat hitting it. I’m thinking of getting a camera for an upstairs window which will show the full road, and would be putting it on a window that gets direct sunlight on it in the morning. I’ll update this review if I do get a second camera and if the heat on the window affects the suction cups. The HomeHawk app was simple to download when I got my floor camera, and it was simple to add on this camera. The app has the user guides, too, and do read all that’s there to understand what the HomeHawk cameras can and cannot do. The only shortcoming I see with this window camera is if the electricity or internet goes out, the camera will not work. Other than that, I love everything about this Panasonic. It’s not that noticeable in the window, either, especially at night. There is either a blue or flashing red light visible inside on the back of the camera, but no light on the very dark front of the camera. The white cord is noticeable, but I wasn’t looking for a hidden type camera; just one that would provide live and recorded images of outside; in the simplest, least costly way possible.

Unique camera worth the priceI have a pair of Blink camera’s and if anyone has them you know the video quality is pretty abysmal and getting a live view is next to impossible. They are cheap and for the price they aren’t a bad deal. This was onsale for Prime Day and decided to take a chance and see how this works out.First thing is, read the installation instructions which are pretty simple. The biggest thing is clean the window well and the camera will stick to it (3 days and still going). I didn’t clean the window and it would stay on for about 4 hours. The rest of the setup is pretty simpleThe app is actually pretty well done and it pairs up easily with multiple phones. The app features are pretty easy to navigate as well. I have mine set to continuous record which gets 32Gb about 1.2 days of recording before it starts overwriting. The only weakness is motion detection. If *anything* moves, it’s going to go off so if you have a tree in the frame and there’s wind, it’s going off non stop. There’s also a person detection feature which works pretty well. When you go to review videos you can look at all saved video, person, motion, etc. I usually just filter on Person and it will grab the 5 min video and start playing it. The cool thing is the app does mark where in the 5 min the person is detected. It would be nice if they had marks for motion though there’d be a lot of marks. Live view syncs up pretty quick and picture quality is excellent. The camera is very difficult to see in the window which is nice. Some things to be aware of, the video only exists on the camera in the SD card so if you see something interesting, it might be worth downloading it before it can be overwritten or damaged. You can lock videos which prevents overwrite. Also, it’s AC powered so as soon as the power goes out, this thing is done. There is no capacitor or any type of battery backup. The color night vision is spectacular though the area I’m is somewhat illuminated. I doubt this would work well in very dark places and there is no IR illuminator.Wish list…I wish I could angle the lens a bit. I realize this is a slim window mount but this would be perfect if I could get about 5 deg down angle. There is no adjusting this but I knew this going in so I can’t complain.

Alexa Echo Show 5 to view HomeHawkUnfortunately I can’t add URL’s here in my effort to help people get Alexa working with HomeHawk. My previous detailed instructions weren’t accepted due to the URL’s I listed.Download Homehawk app on your device.Sign up for a Panasonic account. It’s hard to find the link. Start URL as follows: csapl (dot) pcpf (dot) panasonic (dot) com (forward slash) FAQ (forward slash) FAQ001. Scroll down to “Registration and sign up” to become a member.Enable HomeHawk on right side in the yellow box by searching for Panasonic HomeHawk in the Amazon Alexa Skills search box on the Amazon Prime page.On your Alexa, go to Smarthome to see your Homehawk camera, it takes a minute before you see the live feed from your HomeHawk for only about 1 minute.HomeHawk needs to provide VERY CLEAR DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS as this took many hours for me to search online to figure out how to link Alexa with HomeHawk after going to many pages – what a waste of time. I give a low rating because you spend a lot of money then can’t get it work work with Alexa even though their ad shows it linking with Alexa.HomeHawk should pay me for writing these instructions for their customers. smh.
