Mackie Mix 8 is definitely High Quality Mixer – never disappointsMackie Mix 8 is definitely High Quality Mixer – never disappoints. I’ve bought 2 of these in the past 3 yrs due to it’s size (fits in my digital dj case along side of my Pioneer DDJ SB3 very easily. The well built casing is great for doing performances or in the studio. It survives wear and tear, and gives you that Mackie high quality sound. I use 6 of the 8 input/outputs to power 2 Laptops, a DJ Controller and 2 micophones when gigging with a guitar player. The best part about the sound is that it is one of the few small mixers that still give you all 3 sound knobs (High/Mid/Low). Most do NOT have Mid anymore and it makes a world of a difference. Only thing is no on/off switch, but i bypass that with my multi unit outlet switch that it plugs into. Great buy!

You just can’t beat this for the price for small portable setupsAs a solo singer using tracks and not having a lot of equipment to plug in this is PERFECT you won’t believe how small it is when you get it and your not losing the quality of a bigger mixer.

Low profile high value great mixerI like the form factor and quality build & sound of this unit.. I had planned on buying a Cloud Lifter, for my Shure SM7B anyway that adds +25 dB to the mic line, so the lack of +60 db Onyx mic amps on this unit isn’t an issue… great no noise pots, and 48v phantom power switch, essentially turns on the mic… there is no power switch to this unit, it draws so little power that when it’s plugged in the the DC converter, it’s always on… the glowing light is a friend in the dark….

Mackie Mix5 (5-Channel) Perfect for Streaming SetupLet me tell you about this Mixer. If you’re looking for a device that will mix together 3 devices for monitoring or output, without any audio noise, this is the device you want. The price point is a little high for some, but you get what you pay for, especially if you want an introductory sound mixer. It has all the useful features you’d need to mix your audio together for monitoring or output, and requires hardly any tuning once you set it up right.Since it is a 5-Channel mixer, you basically only can plug in 3 devices total (and can cheat in 2 audio devices with the Tape setting with no sound control). Device one is set up to be your Mic (XLR) / Line in (1/4 or 6.35mm), Device 2 (2/3) is Left Mono (1/4 or 6.35mm) & Right Mono (1/4 or 6.35mm), and Device 3 (4/5) which are the same as Device 2.You have your Main Out which would mix the 3 Device above to a L and R Mono to (1/4 or 6.35mm), Then you have Phones (Headphones) which you can use to Monitor in Stereo with a (1/4 or 6.35mm).Of course there’s also the Tape Setting which you can mix out or listen too with White and Red RCA and you can slot in 2 tape devices, but the mixer has no control over the audio volume or levels, and you can press a button to output to Phones or Main Out.The drawback to this devicve is that it controls both L and R audio at the same time on the device you slot into, if your trying to control the audio levels seperately you’d have to slot into a different device slot, but after that everything works perfectly out of the box, once you adjust the settings to how you like it.This compact mixer doesn’t have a power switch, but for anyone thinking about unplugging it when not in use, you really don’t have too, the device doesn’t get too warm, and unplugging a device like this that doesn’t have a power switch can actually lead to damage over time if you keep power cycling it that way.I bought this for streaming to mix down my Computer Audio and my TV audio into one device for my headphones and its worked like a charm. If you’re looking to do the same you’ll have to buy a few adapters and extra cables, but its well worth it.This was the third mixer I tried and a lot of the cheaper mixers I found on Amazon had weird audio hum/distortions that you couldn’t remove even by adjusting the settings. This device worked out of the box with no distortions or audio interfearence.I highly recommend this device if you’re looking for an easy to set up entry mixer.

Rugged little travel board! This mixer is very rugged and made of heavy plastics and quality metal. This board makes my Yamaha MG06 feel flimsy and cheaply made despite an over double price tag!My only complaint is there’s no power button on this unit. Just unplug it.

Very good mixer. Very good price. This mixer sounded good but I returned it because it had those little silicone(?) packing balls inside of it. I was afraid it might catch on fire. I got a replacement, but sparks came out of that one. I really liked the mixer(s) but was leery of trying a third one.

Not a bad portable mixer for the price. Not a bad portable mixer for the price. I use it with my Bose Pro8 no issues. I replaced a Behringer mixer with this one, which may be an upgrade for me 🙂

Nice little mixer! (Mix8)Just want to throw a few things out there before reviewing. I seen 2 questions pop up that are answered wrong.First was “is this a powered mixer?” The answer is no. You will need an amp and speakers or a powered speaker. Powered mixers have a built in amplifier. This doesnt.Second was in reference to the 2 missing channels on the mix 8. The paper work that comes with the mixer self does not specify where those two extra channels are. Those two channels are on the aux return. There is a more detailed manual online and it has block diagrams that show how everything is routed inside the console. The aux return goes directly to the left and right output. For starters I highly recommend everyone download the manual. So far I used my mixer a couple of times. When set right you have plenty of Headroom to work with. The way that I typically set everything up is I put my powered speaker at Unity, my main output at Unity and my fader level at Unity is well. Then I will just my gains to the volume that I want. I use it with a switchcraft Bluetooth receiver hooked up to a JBL PRX 112 speaker. The console has phantom power. Should be 48V, but has an 18V transformer, though I have not measure the exact voltage coming out of it it has more than enough to power the Bluetooth receiver.A quarter inch to XLR adapter is required or a quarter inch to XLR cable. So far I’ve not had any problems with this mixer and I’m very pleased with it. It’s definitely a step up from the old Antiquated one that I have been using for the past few years. The mix 8 with my JBL tablet, a couple of cables an extension cord fit perfectly in a small tool bag and makes everything easy for traveling.3 band eq is nice. Simple 3 band. I primarally used that over the eq on my powered speakers. It’s got 1 aux send. Perfect for effects. Its after the level so not sure how nice it is for stage monitors. If I were to purchase another I’d probably go for the mix 12. It’s got effects and more channels on it. But in any case if I needed more channels I would probably just break out my spirit console. In conclusion this is a very small and very portable mixer. If you’re looking for something just to add a more flexibility to a powered speaker or have a small console for live streams I highly recommend this one.

Nice MackieThis mixer sound quality far surpasses my audio interface. I’m not sure why. You can hear way more detail though. The art of working a mixer is a thing. The only negative thing is not having a usb connection, but it’s what I signed up for when I got the mixer. The tape out works. I’d choose a solid mixer over an audio interface for most things I do with audio, aside from maybe vocal recording. This mixer fits with my ideas about sound, but if you’re going to record, consider one with usb.
