Fits my Lenovo Yoga 14 inch laptop
I purchased a Glide Gear overhead frame and was very pleased with product, so when I was going to purchase a teleprompter, the Glide Gear brand was important to my decision. It was well protect with cardboard and foam surrounding a substantial plastic case. It took about an hour to deal with directions and another hour to put together. It is very sturdy and the TMP 1000 has a large tray (13 7/8 inches by 12 3/4 inches and almost 19 inches on the diagonal), that accommodates my Lenovo Yoga 14 with just enough adjustment to get a great reflection. My biggest concern was the weight of a laptop on a unit advertised for use with a tablet. No problem.

    So easy to use!
I bought one of these recently, and it’s really handy. It works perfectly, it’s light and not clunky. You have good movement with it and the glass has no glare.

    TMP1000
Well built and sturdy. Easy to set up and functions as advertised. The lager Pro Series was the better option for my broadcast cameras.

    Its fine. Pictures are misleading.

Glide Gear TMP 1000 Professional Video Camera Tablet TeleprompterI guess I was expecting this to come with a tripod, sadly, It does not. The pictures seem slightly misleading. The first few have a tablet, a tripod, and a camera. The last few do have a tripod. I knew it wasn’t going to come with a camera or a tablet but I guess I misunderstood. So anyway it is up to you to provide those things fortunately i had some of those things on hand. It was tested with a small handheld video camera of the tiny sort and all seemed fine. The camera shroud worked fine with it even though it was small. I did a test video I was able to read the tablet clearly and the camera was able to get me basically where I needed to be to look like I was talking to the person on the other side of the camera so I would consider that a success. Having never used a teleprompter before I do not have context to describe what is necessary but based on my limited experience I was able to download an arbitrary app–the company does not seem to have one. the app has to present the text in reverse or mirror this reflects off the glass screen that’s roughly 45° to the tablet. You’re then able to read this while looking directly into the camera which sits behind that glass and I guess one of the concerns that people have with teleprompters is a glare off the glass and I did not experience anything of this sort. I’m not sure about other versions but this particular pro version comes with a really nice case and seems to have the ability to manage very large professional video equipment. It seems fairly sturdy and has a robust build. All said and done it’s not a very complicated apparatus but it has enough adjustments and attachment points to manage a variety of doodads, and setups. The glass stores well in the case but seems like it should have a bag of some sort, to protect from dust and lint and fingerprints.I think based on the price and the pictures, it is not clear, at least to me, that this does not include at least a basic tripod. Either the pictures or description should state this clearly. Because it is a pricey apparatus and for the uninitiated it is a disappointment to open it up and expect something resembling the marketing pictures and get something that does not.I can, however, with that caveat in mind recommend it because it performs its function, is plenty robust, has plenty of attachment options and is highly adjustable to accomodate all sorts of equipment.

    Impressive
I’ve been making instructional videos for several years. I teach online courses and produce condensed lectures for my students to watch. One of the problems I had was always looking away from the camera to read my notes. I would prop up my tablet right next to the camera lens, but I never appeared to be looking directly at the camera. What I needed was a teleprompter and I got one about a year ago. Using it has greatly improved my videos as I now appear to be making eye contact instead of looking away. While my first teleprompter is very high-quality, it has a couple of issues that this teleprompter should solve.I’ll get to the pros in a moment, but I’ll start with a couple of cons. First, the TMP 1000 is a beast. I knew it would be larger than the teleprompter I was using, but it is way bigger than I anticipated. It is awkward and heavy to move around, but it does come in a high-quality, hard shell, plastic case that will make it easier to transport if I need to.The second con is that it is difficult to assemble. The instruction manual is really good and that made it better, but it was hard to assemble some parts and took much longer than I expected. Once I’ve put it together a few times I’m sure it will go faster, but it is always going to take longer to assemble this one compared to the old one. Fortunately, I won’t have to deal with this too much since it will remain mounted on a tripod in my studio. Now that is out of the way, I’ll get on with the reasons why this is a terrific item. It arrived very well-packed in a Styrofoam-lined box. The unit itself was packed into its carrying case which uses padded foam with custom cutouts to hold everything securely. Everything I needed came in the box. No tools are required for assembly.I’m not a professional videographer and don’t require professional equipment. But I do want quality equipment that is reliable and built to last. I see a lot of products that claim to be “professional” that simply aren’t but the TMP 1000 is professional-grade and I doubt I will ever need to buy another one. The build and design are terrific. My initial teleprompter was a high-quality build, so quality was not the problem. The problem was design. It was always a problem to get the camera and lens adjusted to the correct height. The tray is very narrow, so it was difficult to balance my tablet and it fell a couple of times (fortunately it did not break). The TMP 1000 has a large tray, and the rail system should add some versatility.I tested the unit on a single tripod and dolly. For this test, I mounted a field monitor facing the front so I could see myself on camera, and a small LED light panel. I used my Canon 6D with a Tokina 16-28mm F2.8 lens. I also used a lavalier microphone mounted on the camera. The TMP 1000 had no issues. The video quality was excellent shooting through the glass, and it was easy to read the screen. The hood blocked out all backlight and there were no distracting reflections. The only issue I had was with my tripod, the video head in particular. The weight was not the problem. It was more of a balance issue. The TMP 1000 is long, and it wobbled a bit, especially when moving the rig on the dolly. In the future, I’ll want to use a 2-tripod system with the TMP 1000 mounted on one tripod and the camera on the other. It’s either that or purchase a more professional tripod.Overall, I am extremely pleased with this system. It is versatile, well-made, and should last a lifetime. While it is higher in price than any teleprompter I’ve seen on Amazon, it is a piece of professional equipment.

Big, strong and gets the job done! Great pro quality teleprompter!
This is a great teleprompter, particularly for use with larger cameras and monitors. That being said, it is a bit of a beast with 17″ glass, a large monitor tray and long sled, so if you are working in a small space you might want to check the measurements to make sure it will fit! The large size has advantages like the ability to use a bigger monitor for more readable text and that it can handle most any kind of camera from DSLR up to a much larger studio TV camera. Since it goes together with standard 15mm rails, if you have a small camera you could buy a couple of shorter rails to reduce the overall length of the rig. The “sock” shroud or whatever you call it closes around the camera lens with drawstrings so it will fit pretty much any size lens, no need for screw-on lens rings. The camera mount has plenty of adjustability up and down as well as forward and back. For it’s size, the whole assembled teleprompter is fairly light weight and is VERY sturdy all around. Both the prompter base and the camera mount have heavy cheese plates for mounting and they include a baby pin if you want to mount the thing on a lighting or C stand. You will want to make sure your tripod and head are up to the job. By the time you put the weight of the camera, prompter and monitor on it, the load will be more than usual and you will want to go to the trouble of front-to-back balancing the rig so you can move it smoothly.Everything comes in a hard case with custom fitted cut-outs for every piece of gear. Nothing is left rattling around. Overall a very nice professional piece of gear and a case to carry it in.Besides using this as a teleprompter, it can be nice for video conferencing too. If you route the conference video to the monitor on the prompter, you can be looking straight into your camera lens and still see all the conference participants in the glass in front of you. This is great for maintaining eye contact with the conference participants and avoiding appearing like you are always looking up/down or to the side.If you are doing a solo live production, you can also route a multi-camera view to the teleprompter monitor. This lets you keep eye contact with the camera and still see what is happening on all your other camera feeds so you know when to switch to them.So far I have only run into a few downsides, but they are minor. The first is that the monitor tray has “lips” on the corners to keep your tablet from sliding off. This is normally great but the 15″ portable computer monitor I was going to use is just SLIGHTLY too big so it ends up sitting on these lips instead of on the non-slip foam pad. To use this monitor I will have to add some thicker padding and retaining straps. It’s also possible that for some monitors that do fit on the tray, the lips might still interfere with cables. My suggestion for GlideGear is to make these lips screw on so they can be removed if needed. The second minor omission is some kind of Bluetooth remote, most other teleprompters include a simple one for controlling prompter software on a tablet, phone or computer. This is not too big of a problem though, as you can get these remotes cheap or use a bluetooth mouse instead. The last thing I would have like to have seen is some kind of protective bag over the glass. The case is very well designed to protect the glass but once you open it the glass is just sitting exposed. It would be nice to have it in a thin cloth bag or a top/bottom foam pad for a bit of extra protection. Two accessories I would LOVE to see would be a tablet “clamp style” mount and a VESA monitor mount designed to fit on the 15mm rails instead of the tray. A VESA mount would be very nice for using computer or consumer monitors with the prompter and make cable routing easier than the tray.I’d highly recommend this if you want a larger teleprompter and have the room to set it all up!
