Great value, super fun to use.
This is a great little 4 track for your money. I started off with a 424 MKIII cassette 4 track back in the day and loved it. This is just as easy, if not easier, to use. Sound quality of the internal mics is impressive. I gave the manual a quick once over and within the hour was recording and editing tracks without any problems. Headphones are decent considering the price. Some things to note: -Inputs tend to run a little hot and there is no phantom power if you are using a condenser mic. -The mixed down and mastered stereo master track does count as one of the 4 tracks. -Bouncing tracks can be a little tricky, as with any of these portastudios so be careful. -I would recommend getting a little tripod to mount this on. It’s very light and once all the inputs are plugged in, it could easily slide off a work surface. I put some double sided tape on the back. I would definitely recommend this product if you are just getting into recording or need a fun little ‘sketchpad’ for songwriting.

    No current you tube tutorials
It will do everything advertised, however it is not “one touch”, “plug and play” to use a old reference. The downside was mainly the instruction manual. Although very detailed, the words were in greyscale, and microscopic. I’m about halfway through figuring this device out. Again, no complaints with the device, if you are a singer, or musician, it will be great. Just remember, if you are like me and don’t use devices like this every week, you will have to figure it out. I have become accustomed to you tube tutorials to dumb it down for me. The you tube tutorials on this “are different”. I would recommend this product.

    Tascam Rocks!
I used to use a Fostex multi-track cassette recorder decades ago. I have been recording with Logic Pro on my iMac, which is great… but there are some restrictions. Now with digital multitrack recorders like this I can use the best of both sources.Great device. It is everything so far that it has been described. Still some restrictions but for the money, I’ll take it. Maybe move up to the bigger model in the future but for now, this Tascam rocks!

    Bummer…wanted to like.
I purchased the DP-006 as a portable compliment to my Tascam DP-02 however I simply could not get the external audio output to work with either my Tascam or Sony studio headphones. When trying to play back the pre recorded or mic recorded songs (levels were actively playing according to the lcd screen) with no success for an hour, I gave up and returned the item. Other than that, everything else seemed pretty basic, but I guess I will never find out. My friend owns one, so I will go check his out and maybe I just received a faulty device. On a plus note, I liked the headphones and ordered a pair as a gift for my brother in law’s birthday. Oh yeah, I should mention that the device does not come with an AC adapter, so expect to shell out another 25 dollars unless you want to start burning through batteries. Just a heads up.

    Easy to use
Very practical, easy to use, a little limited for mix but you can export the tracks to any software. You can record any quantity of channels erasing one or two and leaving only the basic for reference and then record again.

a little hard to figure out at first
it works well. it is small so you really to need a stand with it. a bit hard to figure out at first. works great!

    Not Impressed
I have been working with audio for a lot of projects for over 20 years. After reading the previous reviews, I still got this because I needed something portable for running dual headsets. From what I researched it would do what I needed. I didn’t like that it takes a long time to load the firmware when starting, 47 seconds. The phantom power for the microphones for the headsets was very minimal. Even with the level boosted 100%. This made the audio very noisy. I’m sure it’ll work great as an individual studio for a singer, but for my needs it was lacking.

  9. Amazon Customer

Great quality sound from portable device
Microphones are great quality. Definitely a good standalone tool. Not as easy to do punches and navigate due to limited buttons, but you quickly get the hang of it.

  10. Brandon Gaucin

    Always read the instructions.
Easy to use. Haven’t learned the ins and outs entirely yet. But pleased so far with the product.
