10 reviews for Pyle Professional Audio Mixer Sound Board Console System Interface 4 Channel Digital USB Bluetooth MP3 Computer Input 48V

  1. John H.

In depth review. I love this mixer and highly recommend it
This is a limited Space but I will try and hit the most important and asked for information about this mixer I bought 3 weeks ago. This information is from actual use of this mixer in a live outdoor worship stage using Powered Mackie 15” Thump speakers for mains and Yamaha Powered speakers for monitors fed by the FX send. I am a Sound Engineer/Technician with over 50yrs in sound. We usually use a Mackie 16 channel Onyx analog board here with large worship teams but in the last month have only had a single vocalist with one or two instruments so this 4 channel mixer was just fine to try out. I also have used the PYLE PMXU88BT 8 Channel which I also own and absolutely love its additional features this 4 channel PMXU43BT.5 does not have, but it’s 3X the price. Let me first say if you can buy one of the Used Like New or Good or Acceptable units from Amazon DO IT. Amazon backs these better than the new ones and both of the Pyle mixers I own were used but looked new.Starting with one of the most ask for information about this and most of the Chinese mixers is the USB functionality.1. THE USB SECTON. All the Chinese manufactured mixers that can record via USB to a USB thumb/flash drive/stick and thus can be connected to a computer and be recorded via software like Audacity ONLY RECORDS IN MONO. This mixer does this very well. Yes there is a Left and Right channel recorded but both are the same mono combined stereo signal. So playing back the recording both left and right signals are the same. This is ok if you are recording sermons and music you will be playing back monorally as we do from our stage since the wide seated audience has to here the full sound mix. A stereo interface or recorder like the Technical Pro UREC7 for about $60 or the Zoom H1n in the picture must be connected to the mixers stereo outputs to record in stereo. On this mixer this would be the Mains out L/R, the Control Out/ Headphones using TRS stereo plugs to the recorder. Read on about the stereo capabilities or not of this mixer.2. Recording to an empty USB Flash Drive Does Not Work and the mixer does not see the drive for some reason. If you’ve read enough reviews on these Chinese made mixers, and I have read them all on amazon you read that an MP3 File, even if its empty must be on the Flash Drive and i found out this is true. I had my daughter put one of her MP3 format songs from her MAC on it and i erased the contents but left the file there. Boom it worked. I ordered 5 Sticks from Amazon, copied that file onto all of the 5 USB sticks and they record onto on both of my Pyle mixers. It is what is is, adapt.3. You can record (in mono) to an SD card as I did by getting a USB to SD card reader I used UGREEN on Amazon. Recording on the SD Micro TF only worked if i used the larger adapter inserting it into the larger SD slot. Playback worked great to for those who want to play music. Here I just assume it can playback stereo music as the Bluetooth functionality is definitely stereo if you have stereo music on a USB drive or SD card.4. There is a mode button on the USB player that gets you to the 3 functions, Bluetooth, USB playing if a Drive is in the slot, Record if there is a Drive in the slot. Recording starts then when you press the left most button as the instructions say with REC on the display and timer starts to count up the seconds/minutes of the recording which I have done for recordings over and hour. To stop press again. I have not been able to pause recording by pressing left button as manual says. It just stops recording.5. Bluetooth works great and I got and open air distance of 80 feet to the stage and it worked great so the guy who said he picked up his phone and lost connection had other problems.6. There is no separate volume for recording from the USB connection. The manual says that you can press two middle buttons marked – and + to lower and raise the USB volume but I found this is not for the recording function only when playing through USB. In that case the LED screen with indicate a change in volume, again as tested will not lower the recording volume to stop it from distortion. The feed for the recording comes off the main outputs after the main fader so if you run it to hot (to much gain, to loud) you will get distortion on the recording. This did not seem to be as bad on my Pyle 8 channel mixer but as others have said on Amazon and YouTube do trial and error since there is no way to listen in to the recording input/output separately. Ive just noticed with this mixer if your first green LED light is on that’s at -10DB its distorting. The output signal to main L/R is at a decent level here so that may be ok to feed your amplifier or powered speakers which should set near maximum gain if you need louder volume out of your speakers for live use. If you are just recording or practicing you will not have a problem with this. You can think about using the stereo Control Out to feed your main mix using the headphone volume to control it and the main mix fader for recording only. This is not a quiet board and puts out plenty of signal for use through a 100ft snake we use. I found it to be low noise also so good there. Each channel does have a red clip/overload led and it does not clip easily so you can run the input gain knob hot for maximum output if needed so that’s great news.7. The USB section to playback either USB drives or Bluetooth needs stereo channels 3 and 4 to do so. A press of the ‘3/4 USB’ button in the USB section is required to select playback. If used you can’t also use the 3/4 1/4” channel inserts but can simultaneously use Channel 1 and 2 mic/line inputs to mix into the playing music on 3 and 4 with separate volumes and 3 band EQ for each. In this case you cant also record at the same time.8. It is great to know however that if you are recording through the USB slot you do not have to press the button mentioned above down to the USB setting and eliminate the use of Channels 3 and 4. What I am saying is that your can record onto USB drive or computer Via double male USB cable (included) and also use channels 3 and 4 for inputs which is great news.9. So functionality of the USB section on both of my Pyle mixers is similar but better on the 8 channel like having REPEAT for MP3 files and Direct Access to files on a USB stick finding them first by number then pressing in on the control knob for start when you want. On this 4 channel mixer you just press the forward backward buttons and it goes to that file within seconds but will not continue playing the original file until you decide which number to stop at so there is an interruption in the audio output until it starts the new file.10. THE FX SECTION Here my 2 pile mixers are very different. For this 4 Channel mixer the 16 bit Analog effects give you a reverb/echo combination that are adjusted by the choice of one of 16 and then further changed with the repeat knob. The level knob is how much effect goes into the overall FS/SEND. Then any amount of this up to the setting of the level knob for each channel is set by that channels individual FX/SEND knob just above the channel volume (level) knob. There is slight variations in this section but it is sufficient to give some depth to live and recorded music and i use a slight bit on the singers. The first three or so are a reverb then a delay is added too. What is important to know is that there is a outboard send and return on this mixer for this effects bus, something most mixers this size don’t have. A better FX processor like a Behringer Virtiualizer can be added by sending to it then returning to the mixer via these jacks.11. This FX bus can be used in many other ways also since it has a direct send (output). I use it for stage monitors where I am sending one special mix to several on stage self powered speakers as I mentioned earlier. You can adjust how much of each channel goes into the monitor mix using the FX knobs on each. This is a fantastic option on such a small mixer. What’s even more amazing is it allowed me to use some effects in the main mix at the same time that evidently did not show up in the stage monitor mix. This FX bus if you don’t have to run stage monitors can also be used to send a signal to an outboard recorder or near field monitors or audio to other speakers in other rooms etc. The Return does not have to be a return of the sent audio it can be used as a separate input perhaps form another mixer to the mains controlled by the RETURN volume knob.12. THIS IS NOT A TRUE ALL STEREO MIXER. I got this mixer on a cyber Monday sale and it was already discounted as a used unit so yea I got it for just over $30 and that’s a STEAL. But even at its normal price for around $70 with USB playback and recording and Bluetooth and its other features it beats most other small mixers on features so I just LOVE it’s functionality and compactness. However it is only stereo using channels 3 and 4 which have left and right inserts. The USB/Bluetooth is also stereo input and so the output to the mains/ headphones/ Control Out are stereo signals.. Channel1 and 2 are mono Channels and cannot be panned to left or right but goes equally as a mono signal to the mix, there is not PAN knob on the unit on any channels even 3 or 4. This is not an issue for me since we use mono speakers but would if you wanted to record in stereo and pan the mikes off center for stereo separation. Many small mixers are like this some have PAN controls and there are Pyle models that do but may also delete some of the features this one hasThis is a TOP contender for small mixers for me

PMXU43BT.5 Second mixer, bought as a replacement for a different brand that didn’t work
Let me preface, I have 3 other mixers and have long experience with them. The reason I only gave 4 stars for sound quality is that my High Impedance Yamaha board from the 1970’s, My 16 channel Berringer, and my 10 channel Yamaha have better tone on the same mics (to my ears). I am not getting the bass response I was hoping for, but it does sound very good! I got this as a small mixer to connect to my laptop for Zoom meetings, and for recording songs for my YouTube channel, and my Cigar Box Guitar Blog. Things I like, small size, seems well built with metal cabinet, all the input and output jacks are metal not plastic. I like having reverb and delay functions right in the board, eliminating the need for external reverb/delay. It does have lots of features. I use a Shure Beta 58 vocal mic for voice, and an SM58 to mic my 5 watt Vox amp into the board. Buyers may find the need for 1/8 inch adaptor 1/4 inch or RCA to 1/4, depending on what Mics, headphones, earbuds, speakers, or if you want to jack into 1/8 plugs in laptop or phone, tablet, etc.Things I don’t like? the 16 DSP effects are not labelled, nor could I find the names of the reverb/delay functions ANYWHERE. Service department has been very good, they sent me a chart about the effects, but, it is tech chart of the effects, in frequencies. So, plan on experimenting with the effects. If you wanted to take the system with you, it seems well built, and has a small footprint. So I would say portability is good. The input to the computer is the same as the USB record out, meaning I cannot see how you would record to thumb drive while connected to computer, but you could create the file in the computer and dupe it to the USB drive. It may not seem fair to compare this small mixer to my two Yamaha, and one Berringer board, but that is my opinion, and this is, after all, an opinion. Would I recommend this mixer to others YES! I paid 67.xx on Prime with the free delivery, it was a good buy. Do I think that it is a good deal? YES! Would I buy it again? I believe so.

    Right for the job!
Wow! This small mixer works fine for me. Came on time and working perfectly out of the box. Is my mixer for the electric drum set and now I am going to use it to for my seminars. And, at the beginning, I didn’t realize how to work with the Bluetooth connection and the pc connection. I checked several reviews, videos and checked the instructions several times and was not working. The comments of others in some of the reviews I read had the same issue connecting… then I pressed the USB button and all started to work perfectly. You will loose channels 3/4 but worth it. I was able to connect by Bluetooth my MP3 player, phone and believe it or not, yes, the PC. You can connect the PC to this mixer by the Bluetooth connection (not so stable there, if it is just to play music only and small videos), by the USB cable provided (very stable connection for the PC) and also by using the headphones connection from the PC with an 1/4 cable to either channels 1 or 2 (very stable connection too). Amazing for a small mixer like this. Very impressed and satisfied with this! A bargain for the price. I recommend this product.

    So Far So Good
So far I’m pretty impressed. I’ve used it a few times and it’s decent for the price I paid (I got it 30% off the regular price). I like the fact that I can play music from a thumb drive, Bluetooth music from my phone, or hook microphones and devices up to it the old school way LOL. However, I do wish it had at least one Hi Z input.I have a high end 12 channel mixer that I use for most my applications, but this was a good purchase as a backup portable mixer. If I was purchasing my “main” mixer, this probably wouldn’t be my choice unless I was on a tight budget but it works well as a backup.

super recomendada, no filtra nada de ruido y tiene funciones excelentes

    A legit bluetooth mixer!
Using this for audio gains on a pair of Mackie speakers using music from my phone casted via bluetooth. Works great!

The Most Bang For Your Buck
I’ve had Pyle microphones before, so I’m some what familiar with the company. When I saw that they had a 4 channel mixer that was highly rated for less than half of what other companies would charge I jumped on the opportunity. I’ve only had it a few days, but so far so good. The sound is excellent and I really like that it has Bluetooth. I hooked it up to my computer and it recognized it right away. Really my only complaint would be that the power adapter has a rather short cord and is very finicky about being plugged in all the way.

You can’t go wrong with Pyle.
You can’t go wrong with Pyle. This mixer has everything I need and more for djing and my podcast. Portable and USB connectivity from a name you can trust

Quirky, but it works once you figure some things out
The media could not be loaded.

Update; 3 weeks after receiving this mixer, it completely failed. There was a faint “burnt electrical” smell. It had been acting funny for the last 2-3 days of it’s life. I don’t think that this is a bad mixer overall, and I was disappointed that it failed, but that is the way it goes with electronics. It happens from time to time.I returned the unit for a different model that had some features the Pyle mixer didn’t.As usual, Amazons No Hassle Returns made this easy to remedy.————————————————–First off, don’t buy the 4 channel when the 6 channel is the same price. I’m still scratching my head over that! I could send it back, but the shipping restriction on PO Boxes is too much of a hassle for me.I set up a simple recording studio with a microphone and a Line 6 mk2 V60 amp, and some guitars. I have a ten dollar stick on mic for the acoustic guitar. The unit helps to boost microphones to a useful loudness, and was the main reason for buying. The directions are very vague, requiring me to hit Google search to understand what these terms ment, then things started to happen. I also had to hunt down an 1/8 to 1/4 inch adapter plug for my headphones to work. You will need the headphones to hear what you are recording. The unit comes with an USB cord and a power brick. There is some white noise, that can be reduced with the right turns of the knobs, and using the PAD button (Passive Attenuation Device). I did not find excess noise to be an issue.Using a microphone, and my guitar amp, with the PMXU43BT.5 plugged via USB to a laptop, I was able to record with some clarity and good tone. I used a stick on mic on the acoustic guitar pumped through the Line 6 amp, outputted via the amps headphone jack to the mixer input 2, and a mic on a stand for vocals on input 1. I used headsets for monitoring, this was plugged into the “Headphone” port, and has its own volume control.Windows 10 recognised the unit quickly and setup the drivers with no issue. The little popup volume window that can’t be moved and that stays at 100%, just as some have reported, went away after a bit. Where I do not know, and since I don’t need it, I hope it don’t come back. While it was on the screen, I put Audacity into a window past the immovable popup as a work around, as it is inconveniently in the way. There are plenty of knobs for controlling input/output, and the treble/mid/bass controls work well. I used Audacity freeware DAW for recording.See the video, I did a quick song, “Ring of Fire”, it turned out well enough for some cheap gear. One conflict I had encountered was the laptop microphone sometimes wanted to take over, and this made for some lousy recordings! I went into the properties, and disabled the built in microphone, and since all has been well. I read with interest some of the other buyers problems, and some of those I had, the “tinny” sound. Turned out it was the laptop mic taking over, despite what I had chosen as the recording input device in Audacity.I have not tried the Bluetooth as it is not needed. The USB uses up channels 3 and 4 on the return, really makes this a 2 channel device. You could free up 3&4 by not using the USB ports and use the output plugs into the audio card input, if your computer has one. My laptop does not, so I’m stuck with the USB port. But mono is fine for what I’m doing, it’s complicated enough. I found it strange to listen to myself, but my wife assured me that’s what I sound like! The sound FX can add some “roominess” to vocals if used with a light touch.I ding this a star for general lack of documentation and instructions. Even a tiny bit of a primer would be extremely helpful. It comes with a scant manual with bare bones information. But the internet has enough info to get you going.I think I’ll have some Covid fun with this device!A quick update, I tried the Bluetooth feature with my phone, the mixer recognised and connected easily. When I played a song on my phone, it was ported through the mixer and was good.

Doesn’t work as advertised, many quirks
While I overall am ok with this little mixer, it is not as versatile as advertised and has too many quirks. I bought this mixer purely for personal use with my electric piano, cell phone, and in-ear monitors so that I can play piano along with recordings on iTunes for personal enjoyment without being heard by everyone else in my house.-My electric piano is connected to the mixer via Siamese cables… Left Line-Out to Channel 3 and Right Line-Out to Channel 4 (so if you are using an electric piano or other L/R output instrument, this is only a 3 channel mixer).-My in-ear monitors are connected to the headphone jack on the mixer… I do not use speakers of any kind.-According to the literature with this board, I should be able to use an 1/8” to 1/4” + dongle to connect my iPhone 11 to Channel 1 or 2. However, whether I use a TS or TRS cable, and whether I use Channel 1 or 2, I can only hear one channel (mono) of music coming from the iPhone. I do not know if this is a problem with the mixer or an iPhone incompatibility. I contacted Pyle for assistance, but they repeatedly asked for a video of the problem… I could not get them to understand that since I don’t have speakers, a video is NOT going to allow them to hear the issue, so I never got an answer from them. A friend who works for Dolby in NY also can’t see why this would happen like that. So I finally ended up using a L/R split cable to single stereo, plugging Left into Channel 1 and R into Channel 2 (see photo) and I can now fully hear both channels of the music from my iPhone. But now once again, that’s 2 channels for one device. I’m only getting 2 devices on a 4 Channel mixer. Even though the sound quality would be less than desired, I even entertained the idea of connecting my iPhone to the mixer via Bluetooth, but Bluetooth uses the Channel 3/4 connection, so be aware that if you are planning to use Bluetooth, then you will only have Channels 1 and 2 available for other instruments/devices.If I hadn’t bought this during early pandemic craziness, I would have returned it. Since I ended up keeping it, it does serve my needs, but with far more issues and quirks than necessary.
