A great, unobtrusive speaker.Installation was relatively easy. After finding a location between joists in the ceiling, drew the circle with the included template. Used a knife to start a hole, then used a small drywall saw to cut the hole for the speaker, just be patient and follow the line, cutting just outside the line. I had my spouse with the vacuum cleaner hose close to where I was cutting to lessen the dust blowing everywhere. I then inserted the speaker into the hole to make sure it fit snug; I used a knife to scrape a little of the drywall to make it fit just right. I then connected the wires to the speaker, and inserted the speaker back into the drywall and with a No.2 Phillips, screwed the speaker in place, while holding the speaker with the other hand. I then cleaned the speaker with a moist cloth, specially plastic around it, because of the dust in my hand. The plastic grilles just snapped into place. I turned the receiver on, and I found the sound loud, with OK bass and good treble. Voice was clear. Now, the sound was filling, but lacked bass for my taste, but because the speaker is not installed in a well designed speaker enclosure, but rather in the ceiling with an attic, it is not the perfect solution for booming bass. One thing I did noticed, was that the speaker grill vibrated with the beat of the music, so I put a small piece of foam between the tweeter and the grill. It removed the vibrations, and did not affect the high frequencies. Mine did not come with the glue for the grills. I liked the quality of the speaker, its sound, and I believe they are a great value.

Can’t beat these things with a stickArrived as advertised, one box was a bit crushed but the speakers inside were undamaged. I put 6 of these in the ceiling for a fully-in-ceiling 7.2 system, these respond well down to about 45Hz before you hear a noticeable dropoff. Which is plenty low enough to feed into the subwoofer array. Even without a sub, these things are fairly adequate, high build quality, great price for the money. I don’t have any issues with rattling, the circular covers snap on very positively and stay put. These will handle a 10AWG wire going to them, as well, but nothing bigger.

The Best Entry Level Home Theater.. I mean TV RoomAfter convincing my wife I am building a TV room for the family (which is true), I had to get components which I could afford and feel happy about their quality. This pair of Pyle 8inch speaker has granted me, I mean my family an opportunity to listen to Atmos content in my home theater… I mean our TV room. I am not an audiophile… yet, but I highly recommend this product for those husbands… I mean families that want an affordable product to launch their surround sound lifestyle.Pros. Affordable, good quality entry level speakers.Cons. Be careful when tightening the screws, the latches may come off. Just take your time.

Great value if you are not to picky about base frequency response.Ease of use great. Speakers are ready to use. Can place in a plywood open-back box for improved operation if not mounted in wall. Place the open back of box near wall for improved low frequency audio response. Excellent value for elementary and middle school beginning electronics projects. Speakers are rated good versus great due to lack of adequate audio response below 100 Hz. Could improve this performance with a frequency adjusted preamp.

Great buy.Very happy with the sound from these. Had to take away one star because the square grills were a real pain to snap on and didn’t feel as secure as the round ones. Didn’t want these on the ceiling to ultimately pop off and deal with dragging the ladder back out.Tried these to compare against the dozen PDIC61RC which I recently installed in my house. The PDIC61RC uses the metal grill which I found harder to paint and didn’t look as nice as the PDIC66 model (when painted). Sound quality was comparable but the rooms which had the PDIC66’s seemed to handle louder volume levels better. That may just be me however. These are part of the whole-house audio installed in every room to go with our new OnQ Lagrand system. These (both models) are decent wide range speakers at modest sound levels. Don’t expect a lot of bass and won’t take too much power but that wasn’t what I needed. Could possibly use these for surround sound speakers but I wouldn’t attempt for primary speakers. Highly recommend these for small rooms where bass isn’t needed.

Very good sound for the moneyWe needed a speaker for the kitchen in our Temple it works perfectly packaged was damaged but speakers were not thank you gif the discount

Good ValueI used a pair of these speakers in my recently remodeled theater room. I am as happy as I can be with these speakers considering the price. I previously used an earlier model before but found these to be sturdier and better looking than their predecessor. I had no problems at all with the mounting and the sound is good in a 5.1 system. I have used higher end speakers but these have to be the best value with little perceptual notice of degraded sound quality. I see that some of the complaints are with the bass but I think they are as good as could be expected for their size and design. However, if you want theater sound I think a sub-woofer would definitely be recommended. A good way to install a good sound system on a tight budget. If you want to spend thousands of dollars on the speaker system, you could do better…

  8. MY Shoppin’ Reviews

Practice mounting, use #1 screw bit, check for loose tweeters!Haven’t heard the sound yet but here are two pieces of unsolicited advice. First open the box and make sure the tweeter doesn’t flip around and is glued solidly into place. Return immediately if it even moves slightly, Pyle offers a 1 year warranty but you have to pay shipping both ways, equaling the cost of the speaker itself.Second, when installing, hold the speaker in your hand and use you #1 driver bit to fully tighten and loosen the screw/mount mechanism several times. Carefully hold the plastic parts in alignment with a gloved hand to loosen everything up just a tad. Make sure you understand the tightening direction and how it all works. Seems simple but it is extremely easy to snap and mangle the plastic guides as the screw is very tight in the lock down arm without a few full hand-guided tightens and loosenings first.

  9. TONY WOLKEN

sound great, good value.Nice sounding speaker. Bought these not so much to install in a ceiling but as a full range replacement in a nutone home sound system. thought I would simply remove speaker from ceiling mount and install in speaker box. Wrong. My bad for not checking with seller first. Speaker and ceiling mount all in one piece. So needed to hand trim off ceiling mount, voiding any warranty they may have had I am sure. But it all worked out after a few hours of careful cutting. All in all worth the effort. Hard to find full range 10 inch speaker. Happy.

Beware of install during install step #3The instructions say” the locking tabs will swivel into place and secure the unit to the near surface of the wall”…not necessarily. Once you have the speaker situated in the ceiling, the swivel MUST turn, dropping the screw to the front of the speaker. If not, the speaker will tighten against itself instead of the ceiling. If it tightens before dropping through, it will either break the plastic rod (cheap plastic) on the inside of the speaker or the screw will punch a hole through the front of the speaker. If this does happen, you might as well return the speaker and ask for another set because by now you’ve already cut a hole in your ceiling. Took me 4 tries (speakers) to install 2 without breaking the speaker. Good luck!!
