Wow, now that I finally have good speakers that can be adjusted, surround sound is … amazing!I have been trying to get great sound for our living room for … years. I have a decent AVR (Yamaha HTR-5990) so am set up for good sound. But before we renovated our house, there was just no way to really make it work. Now we have a rational setup with our couch against a back wall, about 10 feet from the TV/front speakers — I use these for rear surround. I have mounted the two Polk speakers in the ceiling at about the same plane as the back of the couch — about a foot or so away from the back wall, and a couple feet out from the ends of the couch. This is not ideal for several reasons, but these speakers make it work beautifully.I aimed the tweeter at the back wall and a little away from the couch. The AVR has an automatic level and equalizer setup, which is great because it saves time and probably does a better job than I would do.In our old setup we had little cube speakers for surround — same AVR — we notices that they seemed to audibly be “on” sometimes which was a little distracting. These speakers are totally different — you never know they are on, so surround sound seems completely natural. Sound fills the room, but in a subtle and effective way; rich and full with even distribution. We had a telling experience. When we first had the speakers set up, it wasn’t clear to others that they were on. So I disconnected and everybody immediately realized the difference. I took it another step by temporarily using (and tuning for) my old speakers — it wasn’t the room — same on/off kind of issue.I am really impressed with how immersive well-tuned surround sound can be, and I am sure these speakers are everything I could need for my purposes. Pretty impressive, and not terribly expensive.

Great Sound in Mid and High Range, good valueThis is the second Polk Audio five channel in-ceiling speaker setup that I have done. As with the first, install was very simple, just cut the holes (I just used a simple rock saw) using the template provided and insert the speaker. The tabs that secure the speaker to the ceiling have a good amount of clearance, so if you have supporting wood or an extra layer of dry wall at a join, this is not an issue. I have blown in insulation above the ceiling that I installed these, so I went to the attic and moved all the insulation away, so as not to make a big mess below. Once speakers were installed, I ran the wire and covered with roll insulation over the top rather than the blown in stuff that was there so as not to get a mess inside the speakers. For this setup, I just wanted to get clean five channel sound without the speakers being easily seen. High and mid range sound is great, not much on the low end, but that is exactly what I expected with speakers of this size. The sound is noticeably better than my other setup using Polk Audio RC60i speakers. I picked up a Marantz NR1403 to power these and it does a good job, you don’t need a lot of power for this setup. Tweeters can be aimed, not sure how big a difference this makes. Some people complain about difficulty in removing the covers. These attach the same way as on the RC60i and go on easy and after several years I have never had a reason to remove them, so can’t comment on that. Good sound for the price.

Round mound of soundI recently remolded my basement and upgraded my theater system. I didn’t want to break the bank nor did I want to go too cheap either. As the saying goes you get what you pay for. These are perfect for the person who wants good sounds while watching their favorite movie. I paired them with a center and fro at and rear surround speakers to haves 7.1 setup

Excellent sound and bass response.Amazing sound quality and excellent bass for an in-ceiling speaker. Exceeded expectations. I coupled this with a MountGenie for Echo Dot for in-ceiling Alexa, with the speakers powered by a Fosi Audio BT10A amp set on top of my cabinets, as well as a Mount Genie PoE adapter and TrendNet PoE injector to run power to the Echo Dot via Ethernet. I ran speaker cables from the Echo Dot with speaker wire to red/white RCA to Aux to pipe Alexa’s voice and music to the amp.

Great purchaseThis speaker literally took about 5 minutes to install because I was replacing a bad speaker so the hole was already there. The sound is great. The color is a very bright white which doesn’t match my other white speakers, but that is minor since they are in the ceiling. I would suggest you use a power drill for installation because using a regular screw driver would a lot longer to install.

DiscreteUsing in an atmos set up, install was easy and they sound and look good. I’m not using them for rear surrounds but wouldn’t hesitate to if my room needed that. Can be installed alone, but a helper will make it go more smoothly when installing in the ceiling.

They sound great. Better than the HTD brand speakers I installed …They sound great. Better than the HTD brand speakers I installed in my previous house. I’m not a sound / speaker snob but I can tell the difference between cheap sounding tin cans and these high quality speakers. I am primarily using these for 7.1 surround / movie watching. But music sounds terrific too. I would recommend these and will probably be buying more of them for other rooms in the house. Installation was easy with the provided instructions and template. They are mounted in my basement ceiling home theater room, no enclosure, just in the open cavity between the joists.

Great Speaker with a hard to beat priceI install tons of these, typically used as atmos speakers. they pair very nicely with the polk 265RT as front channels. My typical go to setup would be to use two MC80 (the bigger version of these) as my rear channels, and 2 or 4 of these as atmos speakers with two 265 RT or LS up front with the matching center channel. these sound similar to the amazonbasics speakers but these have a movable tweeter that is a nice upgrade

Great price for quality speakersI got these to install in the TV room of our new house. The way the room is setup the old wall hanging speakers would look out of place so we wanted a cleaner look. Researched a few different brands and settled on these to match our other existing Polk speakers. These didn’t disappoint and now we have a complete surround sound system to enjoy. The speakers themselves were easy to install in the ceiling and the sound from these is amazing. Watching movies now we get sounds we didn’t even hear before with the old speakers. They do get quite loud so they would work well as front speakers as well.

Really nice speakers!!!One of the best speakers I’ve ever used. Sounds clear and amazingly loud. Fairly easy to install. Purchased 4 of these, paired up with my Polk center speaker and subwoofer for a 5.1 surround sound system. Great for movie night and listening to music.
