The MXL CR77 Dynamic Stage Vocal Microphone is designed as a live stage microphone but can also be used in the studio. Inside and out, it blends a vintage style with modern siding elements. MXL integrated a foam windscreen behind the grille to filter out plosives and wind noise while the super-cardioid polar pattern extraneous sounds for clear vocals. The CR77 reduces noise from floor vibrations with the built-in shock mount as the durable grille protects the internal components from damage. Included are the microphone, a rugged aluminum flight case, and a microfiber cleaning cloth.

Great ProductWhat a fantastic product and great service from Amazon. The first one that arrived was a complete dud, which contained a lot of static and hiss. So I filed for a return through Amazon’s website, and within a day I received a response with instructions on shipping it back for a replacement. What I didn’t know was that a replacement, brand new, was already in route before I went to the post office to return the defective microphone; Amazon notified me via e-mail. I had to pick up shipping costs, and I was expecting to receive most of that back, but Amazon paid it back 100%! Great service!Now on with the microphone, which was indeed brand new with all the plastic wrapping and cable plastic ties in tact. I have to admit that I was fearing that the replacement would give me the same issue. Fortunately, this one is a winner! The microphone produced a warm, clear sound and had no noticeable hiss, where as the defect had considerable amount of hiss and needed 100% gain to get any signal, which was extremely weak and full of static. Oh well. Even the best products have their occasional duds. I did a quick test with this microphone in an open area, and it sounded fantastic. I can’t wait to get this into a better environment for recording projects.I’m a happy customer due to the replacement and Amazon’s excellent service. So why only 4 stars? The shock mount was a pain to install the microphone, for it was quite difficult to screw it into place. Putting the mount onto a stand was no problem, though. This microphone is a keeper.

A nice sounding tube mic for a decent price.The only issue I had was with the shock mount. The carriage bolt snapped off when I tightened the thumb nut under very little force. It could have been a defective carriage bolt. Went to the hardware store and got a 6mm x 30mm grade 8.8 carriage bolt and it fit perfectly!

Excellent Studio MicI highly recommend this mic. It has a clean crisp pickup with a wide dynamic and frequency range. The highs, mids, and lows all sound really nice.FYI this is not omnidirectional. It has roughly a 90* pickup pattern from the front of the mic. The mic also picks up sound from the top. This is alluded to in the manual but not spelled out in case you are new to these kinds of mics.Mic and accessories fit perfectly into a standard 18 x 13 x 6 aluminum case. I got mine at Harbor Freight for $35 with foam.

Still…Adjusting to the fine piece of craftsmanship. It picks up feedback really easy. My beats studio edition draw feedback too so I need to step further away from the mic then before. Idk to much about that but my cheaper way cheaper mxl seemed to be better. But it’s getting used to it and figuring out how to get my sound right with mainly vocals. I’m hoping as time goes on I will feel more confident in the Mic. Right now I’m not.

Noisy Tube Circuit BoardThe packaging and items included are very nice.Functionally, the presence for a vocal recording was nice.The issue is a low noise rumble produced by the unit.The noise does not appear until the tube rectifier is warmed up.The quality defect in noise is what caused me to return the item.If you are paying $500.00 for a good vocal mic, you should staywithin the quality of items made in Germany, Europe or US.This is my second purchase of an item made in China for microphones thathad a serious quality defect.
