READ THIS REVIEW IF YOU ARE UPGRADING FROM LOGITECH SPEAKERS
I have been looking for speakers for my computer for a long time. I used to have Altec Lansing VS4121 but replaced them with the Logitech Z623 because I wanted something more high fidelity. Boy was I wrong. Those Logitech speakers may have the ability to produce 200 watts RMS and 400 watts peak power but they cannot handle the the lower frequencies. I had two pairs of Z623 and both of them would distort past 75% volume with the bass at half. To make them better I had to EQ them like crazy, and they ended up losing most of the low frequencies.I tried to return them to Amazon but they just gave me my money back for both pairs and I was able to keep both. I kept the Z623 for two years and was always unhappy with them since most of the music I listen to is 90’s hip hop, which has a lot of low frequencies. I almost regretted getting rid of my Altec Lansing speakers because they were much clearer albeit less powerful than the Logitech speakers. At that point I decided to get the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers to replace the Logitech, and although they were much better than the Logitech’s in terms of sound quality, they did have a lot of distortion at 85% volume and up on the low frequencies, which was very disappointing, so about a week ago I returned them since the box claimed they would not distort. Then I started looking at Edifier and found the S351DB. I contemplated buying them because they are bookshelf speakers and I am putting them on my gaming desk and they could not be angled towards my ears. However, I found “angled speaker stands” sold by edifier on amazon under another brand name called Ventray. I decided to bite the bullet and bought the $500 S351DB and the $50 dollar angled speaker stands. When I set the speakers up I winced as I returned up the volume, expecting them to distort as I put up a song called “Chicken Head” by Project Pat…Once I hit maximum volume, I was totally blown away by these speakers. They handled all the highs, lows and mids without distortion at maximum volume. I have to say it again. These speakers blew me away. I also played Warzone 2.0 on them, and the gunshots in the game crack like thunder at maximum volume. Its actually insane. Compared to the Logitech Z623 which have 200 watts RMS on paper, I was expecting these speakers to be quieter as the Edifier S351DB state they only handle 150 watts RMS, but I was wrong. It seems like the Logitech can output 200 watts RMS but do a terrible job of producing the sounds clearly and without distortion, making them only useful up until 50%-60% volume which makes their claim of 200 watts RMS misleading. These Edifier speakers are clear, and sharp with their treble and deep but controlled with their bass. Now that I look back at it, those Logitech Speakers are terrible, but I got them for free from amazon, so I wasn’t complaining. These Edifier speakers are what a speaker should be. They have an optical connection, volume, treble and bass dials on the side, bluetooth, no gimmicky features (like auto on off on the Kanto YU4 after 15 minutes without sound), and a wonderful remote. These speakers also look the part too. They are badass looking and feel the part too. It feels like I spent $500 on them. The Logitech didn’t sound like $200 speakers, they felt and sounded like free speakers. If you are on the fence, look up measurements for your setup so see if they fit (even though they are not big at all, not much bigger than the Logitech’s footprint but taller) and get a longer optical cable because you probably won’t want to put the subwoofer under your desk as a footrest since the woofer is uncovered. Once you do that just buy the damn things already. You will be blown away by these unless you are some crazy audiophile looking for a specific equalization for reference in music creation or something. I would say these are the equivalent of what the MacBook pro is to laptops.

Very Pleased
I have rather high expectations of what I listen to. At home, I have Anthem electronics driving Martin Logan electrostatic speakers and two M/L 15-inch subwoofers (5.2) In my office, I was listening to Tidal (streamed through a Windows PC) to some Wohome speakers. They were so muddy and had zero bass. I had wanted to repurpose an Onkyo AVR paired with SVS speakers and a small sub. My boss said “no way.” So, I opted for this item. For my purposes (decent sound, crisp highs, solid bass, etc.) they fit the bill. I know that sound coming out of a Windows business desktop is not optimal but these speakers sound very good. I don’t see any real defect with the remote for the little I use it. Fit and finish on all components is great. These aint my Martin Logan/Anthem stuff at home but they sure are more satisfying than even the $100 computer speakers I was using.

Very nice but expected more midrange from Edifier
I tested this both in my living room (900sqft w/16’ vaulted ceiling) and bedroom (350sqft w/9’ ceiling)In the living room: I was upgrading from a low end Samsung sound bar and the initial reaction was very underwhelming. There was almost nothing from 150hz to 400hz I tried several different wired sources and all sounded like the midrange was completely scooped out of the EQ. Then with Bluetooth same story. Movies and music just lacked the mid punch you expect to hear. Highs are crip and lows are ok for an 8” pulling double duty but this is definitely not for large rooms. In the bedroom: Story is different here. The midrange is acceptable now and that scoop is somewhat filled in. Still not blown away but Keeping these for the bedroom mostly because the wife didn’t want anything “big an ugly” but sound bar we have just wasn’t cutting it when watch movies at night on lower volume, the voices just don’t come through clearly on the TV speaker or sound at. This fixed that problem. Could you do better for less? Probably. With some sub $200 powered bookshelves you would get way more mid punch for music and fuller vocals but this are pretty nice quality and matches the bedroom set we own.Pairing these to AppleTv was pretty simple and let’s us use airplay through the speakers. That is a huge bonus!FYI I would not consider myself an audiophile but I do own Yamaha HS8s with a Moto M4 for my PC/Mac setup in my basement if that gives any sense of reference for what I am using as a baseline.

Excellent quality speakers
I don’t write many reviews, but these impressed me so much I made an exception. The sound quality really is excellent; when you lift the sub-woofer you can tell why the bass is so impressive, but I’ve been even more taken with the mid-range. They’re solidly built and ooze quality, except for the daft remote, which is pucking awful.I did a lot of research before buying these and I’m glad I did, as they have delivered beyond my expectations.

Bon produit
