Audience Response Systems

All the latest in audience response systems, technologies, and tools available in the market, all explained. So what is audience response and what are the Benefits

Audience Response Systems Types

The audience response system bridges the gap between a presenter and an audience. It facilitates powerful direct communication that ensures an interactive approach to events. Structural integrity is of utmost importance for collecting audience feedback, during auctioning sessions as well as during the voting process in AGM. The hardware and software of audience response systems take care of it.

Voting Systems

From elections, AGM, and event smaller-scale meetings- Voting system security is an essential part to ensure the integrity of the event. The increasing threat of hardware and software hackers has led to growing concerns about rigged results.

It is equally important to develop platforms to be easy to use and easy to integrate. It must also enable jurisdictions to manage the complex requirements of election preparation, execution, and follow-up.

Feedback Systems

The growing importance of customization and advancement has emphasized feedback loops. Understanding your audience and bridging the gap between presenter and audience has become increasingly relevant. A presenter who knows the needs and wants of their customer will no doubt be in a greater position to modify and pitch his/her ideas thereby retaining as well as satisfying the customer at the same time.

Audience feedback systems are quite easy to use and simple to set up. Knowing the fact that they are the answer to long-term sustainability, we often overlook them.

Personalization, Automation & Customization

With an increasing number of conferences, panels, meetings, and many other events taking place throughout the year, personalization is essential. Understanding attendees’ interests are critical to standing out and marketing to all of these individuals. Marketers mix everything from data and new tech to influencers and speakers. This way, they create a personal experience throughout the cycle of an event.

Audience Response Technology Applications

Events Mobile Applications

Increasingly popular is the use of an app catered specifically for the event. Once attendees have downloaded the app, it can be used to collect data from the customer and customize it according to their interests. A couple of features include – which booths the person has stopped at, along with the time they spent at each booth.

Event automation is a necessity for marketers looking to personalize or customize each attendee’s experience. Organizations can leverage these technologies by taking advantage of real-time data analytics. With the help of this, they can decipher data on audience/attendee needs and preferences. Several of these can include checking what content they have engaged in and the duration of the engagement.

RFID Technology

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) consists of three components, an RFID tag or smart label, an RFID reader, and an antenna.

RFID Reader (also called an interrogator) uses integrated circuits and antennas to transmit data. The reader then converts the radio waves to a more usable form of data. Information collected from the tags is then transferred through a communications interface to a host computer system. Here the data can be stored in a database and analyzed at a later time. This is done by digital data encoded in RFID tags or smart labels which are captured by a reader through radio waves.

RFID is similar to barcoding. In that, the data from a tag or label are captured by a device and stored in a database. However, RFID is capable of being read outside the line of sight whereas barcodes must be aligned with an optical scanner. Should the scanner be faulty, RFID tags that provide name/photo or any other easily verifiable information can still be partially useful for access control.

RFID belongs to a group of technologies referred to as Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC). AIDC technology leverages automation and identifies objects, related data, and transfers the data directly into computer systems without the need for any human intervention.

Auction Systems

There are many types of auctions available and it is essential to first identify the type of auction you are entering or creating, before searching for the respective technology required. Each auction works differently and may require vastly different specifications.

Live Auctions

Live auctions or On-site auctions are one of the most common forms of auction. All the interested parties who wish to bid on the products on display are the people attending the Auctions commonly. The people then evaluate the products on display and bid on them.  Once the attendees have closely gone through the article on Auction, the bidding commences.

The auctioneer at the event calls out the bid placed by the interested parties.  He then asks if any other interested parties have a higher bid. This type of auction is transparent to all because every interested party can compete openly at the same time.

Online Auctions

This is where technology has significantly evolved in the world of auctions. Online auction bidders can compete with each other on any particular service or product placed on the auction. Whoever places the highest bid before the auction ends is declared the winner. The integrity and security of the systems are of vital importance for both bidders as well as auctioneers. Online Hacking can be prevented with tight security. This mode and type of Auction must be promoted as they provide endless possibilities as well as flexibility.

Sealed Bid Auctions

A sealed bid auction is a type of auction where bidders or auctioneers prefer confidential bids. Bids submitted are confidential and unknown to the other potential bidders. The bidders use a high degree of estimation. Based on estimations and preferences, the winning bid could potentially win by a huge margin. Therefore, it is an adverse scenario for the winner, as he/she could win by bidding and hence paying a much smaller amount.

Importance & Features of Auction Systems

Similarly to voting, the architectural integrity of the auction system is highly important. Security is a major must, while ease of use and application is a major plus points. Wireless bidding devices created have eliminated the need for paper bids or the need for a moderation venue. Even with the use of venues, hand-held devices such as smartphones with integrated applications allows for competitive auctions during events. Automation and innovation provide interactive response systems catered to mass audiences. It also assists in bringing down the operating costs for large auction houses.

Examples include eBay Auctions, while examples for Smartphone Apps include Handbid
