Nice Concept, Poor PTZ range and network implementation
I love what this IP cam was supposed to be, and I wanted to love the E1 Outdoor, I really did. But the software design failed in two ways, and the hardware design failed in one way. My camera also started having pan-tilt trouble a few days in.First software issue, the camera can’t use static network configuration on WiFi, if you try, it will only say it failed to connect to the network. It can use static (IP, subnet, etc.) on wired. Which means on WiFi you can only use DHCP, which was a problem for me on my access point, but I eventually got it working DHCP.Second software issue, the camera is 5 MP, and can support max bit rate of 5 Mb/s, but only on paper. In reality, if you use these settings the camera will start lagging, outputting video at a slightly slower than real time rate, until it is about 30 seconds behind, when it will suddenly resync. If you are recording on a DVR or NVR you lose that 30 seconds, not to mention the rest of the video being in slightly slow motion and the odd second getting lost here and there. The fix for the second software issue is to set the bitrate to a maximum of 1.5 Mb/s, at which point the streamed video kept sync nicely. I also found that setting the interframe space to 1x helped, if you were trying to keep bitrate above 1.5 Mb/s.The hardware issue is that the camera has something like a 45 degree tilt range, which means it can’t look much past the horizontal. Which was a major limitation and gave me significant trouble when I was trying to figure out where to mount it while actually being able to see where I wanted it to. A major flaw is that this means it can’t look underneath itself, when mounted downwards. I tried using this in an indoor area, and that was almost impossible. Even outdoors it would mean you have to be far away from whatever you are looking at. You couldn’t mount this on a porch, for example. It would probably have to be off the porch in order to look down far enough to see things close by.Those were the cons, the pros are that the camera is waterproof, has great night time illumination with the IR LEDS, and the spotlight is very nice for a camera this size. However, these pros were drowned in the major design flaws, so it had to get returned. If I get a reolink in the future, it will be one of the POE models, and I’ll verify the title range is close to 90 degrees to give a full range of movement.

Very satisfied…
I’d tried a few others before trying these. So far, they’re everything I wanted. The 256g sd card is satisfactory over paying for cloud space.

Easy to setup and use
Being in the field of IT/Technology for a very long time and having dealt with many different types of security cameras/NVR/DVR, I recently added one of the Reolink E1 Outdoor cameras to the mix. One of my ongoing concerns is that it truly be able to work in harsher environments – we get some extreme cold in the winter and some extreme heat in the height of summer. In 2022, we have had 132 degree weather shifts from season highs to season lows. A few weeks ago over the Christmas holiday we experienced -50 degree F (with windchill). So weather definitely plays a factor. This year my wife and I decided to get ahead of the weather and went south over the Christmas holiday to visit our children who live in Arizona. Knowing we were going to do this, I wanted to add some additional ways we could monitor our house, driveway, etc.I added a E1 Outdoor to monitor the driveway, one to monitor our deck/patio door and one inside the garage. As a veteran of the IT industry, getting these setup and working was child’s play, their directions were very easy to follow. Once configured, getting these mounted and setting up the view, and then setting my phone, my tablet and my computer to monitor these cameras was also very straightforward. It was also very easy to setup the app on my wife’s phone and transfer the necessary information to be able have her also be able to use the cameras was great.Would I buy these again ? Definitely. In fact, I’m going to add several more around the outside of my house to expand upon coverage. Good job Reolink !Key points: Ease of use, Reliable, Cost EffectivePosted by Brian W.

A winner!
I had been a loyal Foscam customer for years until recently experiencing nightmares with their SD4 PTZ cameras. I tried 3, and returned them all for hardware and software failures, plus horrendous support. After new research, I took a chance on this Reolink, and am amazed about how much it is superior to Foscam in every possible way. I now am the proud owner of two E1 Outdoor cameras!Plainly Reolink is successful…and so can afford to develop excellent hardware and software. That said, there is still room for improvement. For instance, getting motion detection alerts when I remotely move the camera, and uneven brightness quality between daytime and night vision modes, which cannot be set separately.I’ve only had these cameras for a week and I will revise this review if I experience any issues.

Slow tracking response
Very slow moving compare to the one I’m currently using by the garage, I thought it was a better unit than the unit I have by the garage because I needed another camera but this one is not going to work for my needs…

Need to install camera in bright daylight. Camera has to scan QR Code from mobile phone.
Most tedious part of installation is scanning the QR Codes from the base of the camera then scanning the the QR Code generated in the app to be scanned from lens of the camera during setup mode.

Video ?
Ok. Full disclosure. I purchased this twice. That being said, the first didn’t work. Amazon made it right as usual and sent another one. This one doesn’t seem to record, even though I have cloud storge. So I then added a SD card. It does alert me of movement but still doesn’t record or play back any video. I hope you have better luck.
