Description

MusicNomad’s patent pending Nut Files feature a revolutionary diamond coating & round “string-shape” blade design resulting in smooth, precision cuts. They cut & polish slots at the same time & do not drift like common toothed files. The industrial, even diamond coating cuts & polishes all the most common nut materials such as nylon, bone, graphite & TUSQ. They even work amazing on saddles. We added an ergonomic handle for total comfort & control of your cut, or you can remove the blade from the handle as an alternative cutting option. This custom set includes all 16 sizes starting with .010” up to .130”, they work great for electric, acoustic & classical guitars & even 5 string basses. We even include an organizational storage case to hold all 16 files and a convenient cleaning brush. That’s MusicNomad quality – raising the bar in equipment care.

Perfect dimensions and shape – Easy, accurate filing
Best files you can reasonably hope to get in terms of accuracy and quality. Go slow and evaluate regularly as they cut fast. Perfect rounded shape. The supplied size stickers are worthless as they fall off, just use a sharpie, but the sizes are fortunately also printed on the files. I would consider this a necessary and practical purchase for anyone who needs nut files.

    Nice tools
Nice files. Well-made and the case is very nice too. A previous user said they needed Elmer’s glue to apply the stickers but I think they were doing it wrong – my stickers went on just fine and stayed put. These cost about half as much as competing products but the quality is very good. I imagine you would get 1000s of cuts from these diamond files. The whole set was not cheap, but these are quality tools made to last a very long time. If you need files to cut slots for strings, I highly recommend this set.

  3. Donald Bosley

    Great tools.
I’m normally a StewMac diehard, but I didn’t want to dump the money on nut files I’ll use a few times a year (tops). These were not cheap, but they are fantastic and got the jobs done that I needed them to do without any issues. The carrying case and cleaning brush are a nice bonus.

  4. Max

    Great Quality
These are the best quality nut and saddle files I have ever used. If you want the best, this is what you need.

  5. Edmond S Ratliff

    Great choice
I have owned the full set for around 8 months. The quality is top notch. The diamond coating makes them much more effective than standard nut files. I actually cut a slot too deep my first time using them, because I was used to the slow cutting standard files. The selection of sizes is perfect for any string gauge set. I can’t yet speak of how long they last, but confidence is high.

    THESE ARE GREAT FILES BUT
Musicnomad makes excellent products. These files are no exception, but they come with these little numbered stickers you must put on them if you do not want to keep them in the little bags and store them in the case. These stickers help you keep the grades apart. Unfortunately, these stickers do not stick to the files. In order to get them on the files you have to get out the Elmers and glue them on. And that makes the work tedious and messy and boring. All my files are still in the little bags with the numbers on them because of this.

  7. Paparaptor

    Very Impressed
I had been looking at getting a set of nut files for quite some time. I actually ordered the light gauge kit and a bass kit before I noticed this full kit. Luckily they had not shipped and I was able to cancel and get this one. Even though the actual file portion is smaller than some of the other manufacturers, the diamond edge makes quick work of setting proper nut height. The only caution is because they are diamond coated, they cut very quickly.I’ve cleaned up probably a dozen guitars or so since I got these. I cannot tell how well they will hold up over the years, but I’ve been very impressed with them up to this point.Compared to some other manufacturers these are a steal. However, if you’re only planning on taking care of your own guitars and little to no bass guitars, a standard six file kit will save you some money and if you need additional sizes they are available individually for what I consider a very reasonable price.

  8. Milos

    perfect round edge
Slot cuting edge of each file is very precise and round and that is a big problem with almost all other files. For the first time I got really round files after trying many other nut-slot files.I highly recommend this tool to every guitar workshop.

  9. Richard J. Roberts

    Inconsistent Quality
A few of the smaller size files have little to no abrasive material on the cutting edge, so they don’t work (.010, .013, .017, .024 etc.). The edge is just flat. I contacted the seller to get these pieces replaced, and they have no inventory to send. They don’t know when they will be resupplied. I have to resort to using my lower priced Chines set of files. Sad.
