Solid performer from Mackie
I really like this particular model because I don’t have to carry around spare batteries. Of course, you are reliant upon your mixer having phantom power, so that is an important limitation to be aware of if you are relying upon other people’s boards. But if you are using your own board, this is a cool piece of hardware and has a lot of nice features like the 15db pad, the ability to combine two sources or use the second 1/4″ jack as a “through” jack. I also like the ability to switch polarity and the ground lift. In addition, it feels like a solid little box that is well made. I’ve been using them for about a year now with no issues – just nice quiet signal.

Works perfectly for my Yamaha YC64 keyboard.
Works perfectly for my Yamaha YC64 keyboard.Gets rid of ground loop noise.Always get compliments from the sound guy, when I show up at a gig, with this.I use the pass through 1/4″ for my monitor amps, and the balanced outputs for the house mixer.

Perfect
This DI is working perfectly for my application. I have a Gibson EB3 bass wired in Stereo which needs Two inputs combined down to One. This is perfect. In addition the XLR connection to the DAW is low signal loss.

QUALITY & PERFORMANCE
I have had his and buzz issues for the last one year, … Being in the show business even if you have the best sound system but have feedback, hiss, buzz you get bad reviews and less recommendation in the industry.I did some research and found industry players handling these issues with the right power management gear not forgetting DI boxes, and that is where this review comes in.Arguably there are many different DI boxes, different brands, different schemes but I decided to match my Mackie digital console with Mackie DI’s … the channel outputs that I input using the DI including some outputs to Powered monitirs are now cleaner and I can push decibels higher without a hiss.Of course the DI is made for different usage, but I chose to get Mackie DI to match my FOH & Monitor system.

They Just Work!
Purchased them and didn’t have a chance to check before the show. Plugged them in as keyboard DI’s and they performed very well! No complaints from the artist.

Solid, flexible, affordable active direct box
Very solidly built, quiet, with many useful features. An excellent value compared with other active direct boxes that don’t include amp or cabinet simulators. Phantom-powered (48v) so you’ll need a mixer on the output side of the XLR, although it will send the Thru signal to an amp even when the MDB-1A isn’t powered (with the Merge/dual input off). This last feature is actually very useful not only for driving an amp onstage as a monitor while the low-Z signal goes to the mixer. I have the MDB-1A on my pedal board, and the Thru lets me practice with an amp without taking things apart when I’m not using a mixer. Or, as in the picture I’m running modulation & OD/distortion in two separate signal chains before merging them in the MDP-1A.

Great dual channel direct box
I’m a professional audio engineer and I’ve used a lot of direct boxes this one seems to work really well it seems almost transparent there is no background noise or audio hits in anyway highly recommend this unit currently using it on a Yamaha motif digital keyboard and it sounds just as good as it doesn’t headphones
