Description
FILMCITY has created a teleprompter for all applications. Whether you’re doing ENG work and need a prompter that works quickly with a tablet, or your are working in a studio or a speech setting where screen size and clarity are high priorities, there is an easy teleprompter for your application.
The display can also be raised halfway up the stand and hidden with the included skirting. It reflects the scrolling text in a highly visible form, from the tablet back at the onscreen talent while allowing the camera to maintain a direct eye line for a natural, direct-to-camera effect.
FEATURES
This design allows you to use virtually any sized camera and its camera base plate includes a unique mount system for quick tripod mount capability. Unlike most teleprompters, it setups in under 2 minutes and does not require any tools.
CRISP, HIGHLY CONTRASTED AND READABLE TEXT This on-the-go prompting solution features 60/40 beamsplitter glass that reflects the scrolling text from the tablet or smartphone to your talent in a crisp clear manner from up to a 10ft reading range.

Both better and worse than I expected.
First off- this unit for $50 is actually a pretty solid deal. If you just need a light duty prompter of this specific size, it’s definitely the best deal currently if you have your own tablet or monitor to use with it.That said- the construction is mostly plastic. There are some nice metal pieces but the part I am expecting to fail is, arguably, the most important part of this thing- the parts which mount on the rails. The clamping components which hold everything to the rails are made of plastic… it’s thick plastic but… it’s still plastic. There are already some stress cracks showing just from basic tightening/adjustment.The glass frame is held at angle by two super thin plastic pins which match two small holes… these parts are, again, plastic and I would honestly expect this hinge and retention design to fail if you ever bumped the glass from the top.I modified mine to use a 10 inch LCD monitor I have which involved removing the tablet holder. The tablet holder seems like the most robust component made of plastic in the entire box.The camera riser is an odd one… it slots into a channel in the back of one of the rail mounts… it seems set up for a vertical adjustment feature…. but this channel has a hard stop at the bottom of the channel so… you can’t go up at all from “standard” and you can’t go down unless you slide the guide out of the channel on the bottom which cants the entire camera mount on an angle and places extra pressure on the rail mount component.Overall, for $50, this suited my needs- all I really needed was the glass and its hinge mechanism which, while I don’t trust the hinge here to survive, that’s an easy component to build out whenever it fails. The glass provides a clear reflection of the teleprompter monitor and that’s really all I needed of it.My best advice would be if you intend to get this… set it up and then never adjust it unless you absolutely have to. Don’t put it away, don’t take it places with you and, if you do, be super careful with the hinge retention pins. There are better all metal designs but the price points are usually way higher so, if you can swing it, maybe get one of those… but if you’re just starting out with a home studio which needs a teleprompter- this could be great for you.

But it comes in an excellent carrying case which I can use
1. The FC-TP-EZ unit was shipped from overseas (India). But it comes in an excellent carrying case which I can use, with lots of foam protection. Everything fits well. Very impressive.2. The unit needs some assembly, and some willingness to make adjustments. For instance, when mounting the glass unit onto the two 300 MM bars, you may need to take a flat object (perhaps a flat screwdriver) and widen the plastic cuts in the block so that the two long bars fit into the holes.3. Make sure you mount the two bars onto your tripod first, before adding the glass.4. If you have a non-conventional camera (mine is the new Logitech 4K Pro webcam). I ended up using electrical tape to fasten it to the metal camera mount bar that should hold the camera. I had endless trouble getting the bar to mount squarely. For some reason the bar doesn’t seem to fit into the slot, and has trouble staying square with the whole device. I ended up placing a large washer between the bar and the unit, and added a number of pieces of card stock until I got it the right thickness. The next time I have access to a grinding wheel, I will make the bottom of the camera mounting plate a bit thinner so that it fits into the slot.5. If you want to use the iphone adapter, for capturing video on your phone, again you will needs to use some spacers under it so that it tightens snugly.6. If you are using a small tripod, like a desk tripod, you need to be very careful to balance the unit in the middle of the 300mm bars, so that the whole unit doesn’t flip over. I found myself catching it a few times until I figured out how to balance it on the tripod. The included gloves and cleaning clothes are very useful when cleaning the glass after catching the unit a few times.7. The worst part of setting this unit up was the black cloth, which is provided to cover the unit. Since I use spotlights, the light shone right through this cloth. I had to replace it with a heaver cloth that totally kept the light out. After everything was mounted, squared, tightened, cleaned, and carefully angled, the unit performed wonderfully. It is made out of metal, with real glass, and seems to be a solid unit. I have now filmed several times with it, and feel it is good value for the money.

One of the best “budget” teleprompters on Amazon
I was almost dissuaded from buying this teleprompter because of the negative reviews. Upon further investigation, most of the negative reviews concern the difficulty of the assembly. This is baffling because not only was the teleprompter extremely easy to assemble, but the PDF instructions are posted for download right on the product page here on Amazon. As for performance, I am using a BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k with SLR Magic 35mm lens and it fits perfectly. My iPad is bright and easily readable, even at 10 feet away and there is no glare. You will need a special app that reverses the text and auto scrolls for your phone or tablet. Yes, there are cheaper teleprompters here and certainly more expensive ones, but FilmCity strikes a great balance of performance and affordability.

Meglio lasciarlo montato

Perfect if you are filming without a crew!
I love this. This is what I have been waiting for. I have a home studio and this is perfect for my little studio. It does darken the lighting a little so watch your lighting but other than that it is great.

No es bueno pero tampoco malo…
Componentes de plástico de mala calidad, hay que tener mucho cuidad al manipularlo pero ya una vez montado funciona al 100 (no estornudar junto al telepromter por que se desarma).

Poor Quality, cheap and nasty
This TelePrompTer is not up to scratch if you are using on professional shoots. It’s cheap and nasty, poor quality and very flimsy. For the amount of money we were expecting something solid that could be used for years to come but I have returned this as it felt like it would break at any moment. Avoid.
