Conference Microphones are wired or wireless devices that transmit audio from one or multiple speakers to an audio system. Conference Microphones use different transmission technology and hardware casing to provide the best support to the user(s). The audio-system finally manages a set of microphones and distributes the sound publicly or via other transmission channels.

Types of Conference Microphones

For any type of conferences, the quality of the conference microphone ensures the clarity of the speech and presentation, hence being critical in the success of the event. The microphone transmits and exchanges their signals by the control unit, while the amplifier embedded in the microphone translates the electrical signal to the voice. A conference microphone can be divided into two kinds, wired conference microphone and wireless conference microphone.

They use a cable to transmit its signal to perform the communication tasks. The advantages of wired conference microphone are that it is generally cheaper and more reliable. The individual does not have to worry about frequency or battery related issues. The disadvantage is the inconvenience of the cable being attached. Should the individual be required to move about, the cable may hinder or restrict their movement.

They use Wifi or Infrared technology to communicate among microphones. The advantage of wireless conference microphone is the freedom of movement and the avoidance of cable problems. For example, if the cable becomes faulty due to stress, changing the entire cable may be a lengthy process. The disadvantages are that there may be certain specifications regarding the range of the microphone and the control unit. Usage life of the microphone is also subject to the constraint of the battery life. There may also be possible interference from other radio equipment/microphones, though models with many frequency-synthesized switch-selectable channels are now quickly becoming more popular and cost-effective. Typically, for Conference equipment, wireless microphone are used over wired microphone.

Lapel Microphones are clipped on to the speaker’s collar, dress or suit and usually connected to a wireless transmitter. The clip allows the speaker to use the hands freely and the wireless transmissions allows for free range of movement on the stage.

Multimedia Microphones usually have a higher power and network demand than traditional devices. Furthermore, they require more know-how for the setup and configuration.

Conference Microphone Systems

Conference moderators is one of the most important aspects of Conference equipment. It is often mistaken for conference facilitator. Conference moderators focus on keeping the communications and information flow clear and accessible to everyone participating. The moderator typically works behind the scenes and coordinates the technical infrastructure behind the event. Example would include speakers, microphones and even lighting. A conference facilitator is the person who steers the direction of communication and information.  They handle the more front end side of the event such as ensuring the discussion stays on track and keeping the conference lively.

Conference moderation software can be used in almost any application that requires sharp filtering of priorities, sequences, vulgarity or personal information. Depending on conference equipment specifications, moderating software allows for control over items such as speakers and microphones to ensure uninterrupted flow of important information and communication, leading to a smooth flow of the conference. These cater to the needs of the administrative aspect of the conference such as attendance and registration. Although he/she can serve as a conference facilitator, it is rare as the conference facilitator is usually appointed internally.

DIGIMIC classic is the classic of our DIGMIC family and a high-performance basic standalone conference system for large-scale discussions as well as for smaller groups if there are high demands for functionality. The entire system is controlled by the DCen central control console where the individual digital microphone stations as well as the DDol digital interpretation console converge. Translations are carried out from there on up to eight channels. Several hundred microphone stations can be switched in parallel through a cascading of the control consoles or alternatively by means of an additional power supply unit.

DIGIMIC classic is easy to use, is just as easy to set up and can be remotely controlled via software. This plug and play technology with no additional time-consuming configurations makes installation particularly easy. The microphone stations stand out with an elegant, stylish design for which DIGIMIC was awarded the iF design award. To convert a wired DIGIMC to wireless simply replace the cable with the docking unit; if a wireless system is not the best solution for your application simply re-connect the cable.
