Novatech expands L-Acoustics L Series presence with major Adelaide installation and rental investment

The theatre upgrade replaces an earlier V-DOSC rig installed in 2010 and later supplemented with K2. Following a competitive tender process, Novatech secured the project with a proposal built around L2 and L2D line source arrays.
The final design features two L2 and one L2D per side as the main system, specified to cover the venue’s various audience configurations without changing the physical array geometry. Four KS28 subwoofers per side are flown in cardioid configuration directly behind each main array, with an additional 12 KS28 available on the floor for high-SPL events. Kara II modules can be pre-attached to the mobile subs when extra output or coverage is required, while six X8 loudspeakers provide front-fill.
Signal management is handled via a custom drive rack built around the L-Acoustics P1 processor. The system operates over a Milan-AVB fibre network, with Cat5 AVB and analogue backup paths. Each L2 and L2D element is powered by LA7.16 amplified controllers, using their discrete DSP channels to shape coverage without physical re-rigging.

The system’s first outings included the Science Excellence Awards 2025, with Novatech reporting favourable feedback from visiting engineers on low-frequency control and intelligibility. The same L2 platform is now available from Novatech’s rental stock for touring productions and one-off events across Australia.
