Great camera, much better than Ring… except for one thing.This camera is better than my Ring I had for a few years in nearly every single category. It recognizes real movement, distinguishes between animal, package, person really well. It captures movement and shows you the prior 10 seconds or so which is great to see someone walk up. The Ring would show me the backside of the delivery person as they walked away, not great. This thing shows delivery folks coming and going. I have not had any single issues with the wifi, hard wired, etc.Now the problem, the 4 star rating. The App is great as well. HOWEVER – unlike Ring, you have to have service to watch the video. I’m not sure if this is just the free service or what but you can not watch or retrieve anything unless there is a signal. Ring would store the video locally and it would dump it to my phone whenever I got service. Arlo will text you there’s motion but unless you have a decent signal, you can’t see it. This is very frustrating as i’m often in the woods with limited service. Maybe I have a setting wrong but I have not figured it out yet. I’ve never lost data, i just can see it 24/7.

Doorbell is awesome, Arlo support, not so good!Well missing items out of the box. You would think an easy fix is to send out the missing item. It was a nightmare. I almost suggested the stick it up their.,,, but I purchased from Amazon and one call and it was sent back and a new one sent out the next day with all the parts. So Aro support sucks, and Amazon is awesome! So the functionality of the Arol doorbell is ok, my ring was very old and it worked as good. Ring seems faster and Aro performs well with low light. Ring took money out of my account a month after I moved and quit its service. Now they want 150.00 to quit. All I can say is be careful with these companies. They are out for your money!!

The perfect video doorbellAfter extensive searching and comparing. Finally decided for the Arlo video doorbell.The main feature is the ability to see more of a vertical view rather than a horizontal. Which, I my case, I am able to see my packages that arrive at all times.- The installation process was a breeze! Following the steps through the app is about as easy as it can get. The only issue I had was turning off the power for the door bell itself. Tried any and all breakers that could be associated with the doorbell, but no luck. It is to my understanding that I may be wire with the furnace depending of the wiring. However, some homes may have the correct circuit breaker. I continued the installation process with caution and was able to install with no issues.- The screw is about an 8 size. I used a 1/8” drill bit for the pilot hole. Worked perfectly.**Update to this part: found a super handy chart and I realized I should have used a different size. Regardless, the 1/8” it still worked for me.- The set up process of the actual video doorbell was also seamless. The app guides you in detail through every step and even offers solutions to problems you might encounter.- Video quality of the Arlo video doorbell is phenomenal. Keeping in mind that it is a small camera, it definitely surpassed my expectation. Having that vertical field of view rather than the horizontal, to me was a lot more beneficial.- The app notifies you of any movement within about 6 to 10 seconds! Once on the app you’ll be able to view the video clip. At first I was fascinated by this, however, I quickly grew tired of getting notified of every car that passed by the street. And that’s where this app is better than others. The Arlo app allows you to customize zones that you want to be notified when something enters that zone. I am able to get the side walk, all of my front yard to include my entrance and some of my driveway. Keep in mind that not all entrances face out directly to the street. The Arlo video doorbell comes with a wall mount that is tilted so you are able to get a better view, with doorbells that do not point to the street.- If someone rings your doorbell, the app will call you phone. In which you can communicate with the person outside and let’s you view the video as well. Furthermore, it allows you to leave your own customized audio message if you do not answer.- The only “negative” comment I have to say about this is the subscription service. But that is relative, let me explain.Arlo starts you off with a 3 month free trial, in which, you get all the benefits of having an Arlo doorbell. Such as, setting zones is your video so you don’t get alerts for every movement. It learn behaviors such as people, cars and animals. Cloud service for 30 days in which you can save clips. And plenty more! After your trial is over, all these features are gone and it becomes a regular video doorbell. Yes, you still get notified but you are not able to make certain adjustments.If you want to continue with the service there’s a fee associated with every Arlo product that you have to pay for. For example, if you have Arlo video cameras and Arlo floodlight then they are considered independent which you have to pay for individually. I will provide an update, but I believe that for the door bell it is $3.99.- Overall I would highly recommend the Arlo video doorbell. The installation and set up process was extremely easy coupled with the guidance of the Arlo app, it sets you up for success. Additionally, it is worth noting that after 3 months of the Arlo service subscription you will be given the option to continue the service. Meaning monthly subscription. Regardless, if you are in the market for a high quality doorbell and service look no further than the Arlo video doorbell.

Far superior to Ring…After reading all of the negative reviews, I opted to order the Arlo Wired Video doorbell anyway. We had a Ring, and it was terrible. If you haven’t figured it out yet, Ring can be easily defeated and no one would know where your package went. Many times things showed up on the door without warning. Stuff could just as easily disappeared without knowing.Back to Arlo.Pros -Excellent recording and minimal gaps – less than 3 seconds. (Ring was over 90 second gaps.)Much better field of view. You can see from the floor to the ceiling on the porch.Much clearer imaging, even when zooming in.Far superior communication with my I phone.Much easier to stop the notifications of every car that drives by. While it still records and stores the video, you do not get notified every time. I set the field to only notify when a person gets close to the porch.If someone rings the doorbell, my phone rings. No delay in that notification. I can then speak to whom ever is at the door, whether I am home or not. No need to open the door to tell solicitors to leave. Arlo even has a siren. It is a bit cumbersome to set off, but would definitely tell a solicitor that you are not interested!Cons -The biggest complaint I have about the Arlo doorbell, and the reason for the 4 star review, is the mounting bracket. It fits the doorbell like a skin, leaving no room for error with screws, or placement for the wire. If you have a small amount of wire tucked behind the doorbell, or the screws are not perfectly seated, you will fight to get the doorbell into the mount. This could be easily remedied if they made some space in the bracket to allow for for mounting inconsistencies. The other issue with the mounting bracket is that it is plastic. This also causes mounting problems. If everything is not exactly plumb and square, like one screw to tight, getting the doorbell into the bracket is difficult. Being plastic, and tightening a screw to mount to a wall is just waiting for a failure. No room for washers, or mistakes here!Delay in motion notification. While you always get the notification and the complete video, it is not instant. There is a few second delay between motion happening, and the notification arriving. If the button is pushed, there is no delay (see earlier comments).It only takes a paperclip to remove the doorbell.Summary -While the Arlo Wired Video doorbell has a few flaws, it is far superior to the Ring v2 video doorbell we had. I like the look of the Arlo, just not the mounting. The rest of the cons are likely similar to all video doorbells on the market. Overall I am very satisfied with the purchase, and the results.A few notes. I did upgrade the transformer to make sure that we had a solid 24vac to the doorbell. I added in an aftermarket mount to rotate the doorbell to a better field of view. There is a monthly subscription, but it is about the same cost as the annual one with Ring.

Be careful screwing baseplate to doorframeThe Arlo video doorbell works very well. Image quality is good. User interface is easy. Install went well at first with clear instructions until I needed to switch to the angled baseplate at which point the standard baseplate cracked and became unusable. I had to use epoxy to repair the baseplate and fill the huge holes in the angled baseplate in order to securely install the doorbell. I probably should have just returned it and I suspect most anyone else would have. The design of the angled baseplate is very poor and led to my disastrous install. The two large holes in the angled baseplate should be filled in to reinforce the plate and this would have prevented the issue I experienced.

Great video doorbell with a few minor hang upsThe instructions for installation were simple for the arlo video doorbell; got the doorbell working in no time. It connected seamlessly with the app and was getting alerts on my phone; it did take some getting used to for setting notifications so that I don’t get overwhelmed with the number of notifications; also the wedge attached was not angled enough for my situation so will probably need to get an after-market part for a greater angle; also the integration with the call function has not been easy to set up; still having trouble with it and have been too busy to set it up properly.

It works ButIt all works as stated. Very good video and photo quality. Very good at motion detection. ButThere is a lag between the door bell ring, the cell phone notification and picking up on the cell phone. By the time I can answer the door bell and speak to the person at the door they leave. Respnse time is not that good.

Quality Product for the PriceI purchased my Arlo doorbell because of a higher rating on CNET than Ring. Plus, some Ring reviews were not that positive. I also wanted to spend about $100 and Arlo came in right there. The installation was very intuitive and I had no problems with installation. Because of the configuration of my door bell, I had to install my Arlo horizontally rather than vertically. This did not cause any real issues, I just have to turn my phone 90 degrees to view camera video. The video quality is very good in day and night conditions. There are a lot of tools to customize the Arlo. The sensitivity of the camera can be adjusted for vehicles driving by and activity zones can be established easily. Interestingly, I had no idea how many cats come up to my front door in the middle of the night. Overall, I am very happy with my Arlo doorbell camera and would recommend the product.

Good choiceAll features on the arlo video doorbell are great. Audio sounds good, motion detection on point. The only reason I gave this a 4 star instead of 5, is the video looks pixelated at first, when it starts to record movement. It takes a few seconds for the picture to clear itself. Which in my opinion is a big deal, especially if you are trying to identify a person’s face quickly.

That it doesn’t work!!! look at update!!This doorbell has been terrible. It was working and now it doesn’t record anything. I’m so upset, this is the second one that doesn’t work properly. I hate returning items but it’s of no use if it doesn’t record.Update: It’s working now, recording well and I’m happy.
