Great valueOf the half dozen mini-mics I’ve bought, this is by far the best at any price.

Terrible Distortion in Almost Any SituationThe media could not be loaded.
I tried this at home for speaking in a normal voice. It worked great, so I took it to a concert. The concert was fairly loud, but not ridiculously so. When I got home and watched my videos the sound was awful. There was a HUGE amount of distortion. I was really hoping that this mic would be good for recording live music but unless the music is acoustic and unplugged, I don’t think it will work. I don’t think there is any way to turn down the input level on my phone (iPhone 6), so I guess it just won’t work for live music.Update: OK, it didn’t work well for live music so I decided to try it for just voice. I tried to make a short instructional video with my phone. I was 8 to 10 feet from the mic and speaking in a normal voice. When I played it back the audio was horribly distorted and it sounded as though someone was crinkling up a paper bag two inches from the mic. It was unusable. Maybe I just got a defective unit or maybe the design just stinks. From other reviews I have begun to conclude that it may be the latter. Sending it back…. and furthermore: I paid $21.69 when I bought this a few weeks ago. Right after that the price went to $49+. Now I see that it is $32.87. What gives, Amazon? Are you basing the price on the user ratings? The price seems totally arbitrary.

the built in mic sounds betterinitially i thought this microphone was crap… turns out its reasonable as an omnidirectional option. it just gets really hot really fast from direct sound. so don’t point it at yourself or your subject. point it off to the side or away from the audio source

Picks up voice really wellHoly cow…….. try it for yourself! I tested with my iPhone 6s. First I recorded without the mic then with the mic and whooaaaa…. it makes such a difference. So much louder and clearer. Really picks up your voice. Will be using for videos on my phone! I was so excited to get it but a little doubt cause most of the reviews were given a free product to try out. But nonetheless I really like it and think it does an amazing job! I can’t wait to make videos on my phone for YouTube.Quick update: it’s still pretty good for close up voice recordings, I’ll still leave it at a 5 star because of that. I recorded my guinea pigs in their cage and you can hear them clearly munching on their food, but there’s a lot of background white noise kinda sound. If it’s closer to you it really picks up your voice more.

Does not work outdoors. Flawed design. Turns by itself when inserted causing poor audioI bought this mic and had problems with it right out of the box. But let’s start with the good. I think the quality of the material used is very good, Could be used indoors, if you can ensure that there is no movement; that includes no hand movement when holding the phone with mic attached. The sound quality is also good. However because of the flawed designed you will never be able to get the good sound quality in any practical sense and will only be frustrated.1. The mic does not have a mechanism to keep it from turning by itself when inserted and any movement will cause the mic to turn and this will cause a terrible distortion and intermittent loss of audio. You can forget about placing your phone on a tripod with the mic attached, when I a did this it still turned by itself when setting at an angle2. I was not able to attach a furry wind muff, in any practical way. This made the mic useless when recording outdoors. The sponge that comes with it, does not stop even the slightest wind noise. The wind muff adds weight to the mic causing it to turn in the socket with the slightest breeze when recording. Yes I was using a small enough wind muff.3. The mic does not lock in place when set at an angle any movement will result in the distortion and loss of audio

Fast Shipping.Seems pretty good, but did not have the wind cover when I received it.

Nice little mic for a tablet or phoneYou’re not going to get super great sound with this mic, but it’s small, portable, easy to use, and much better than a built-in mic on a phone or tablet. So, if you need to do some recording in a pinch, this mic works fine.

Amazing for the priceI tested this mic on my Pixel XL phone in an “interview” situation inside a busy coffee shop. Seated at right angles to the other person, I put the phone, on a stand, about 18 inches away, with the mic pointing at the spot between us.It picked up both voices with very good clarity. It also picked up cafe sounds (which I wanted for ambience). Things like the music came through, but low and backgrounded, with our two voices clearly foregrounded. There’s no gain control and no monitoring. In exchange, you get a super-simple, genuinely plug-and-play device that’s extremely portable and results in more than decent sound quality. I feel like it’s an excellent deal.
