L-Acoustics secures B Corp certification for global operations

Background and context

L-Acoustics, the France-headquartered professional audio manufacturer, has been certified as a B Corporation, joining a small group of companies in the arts and entertainment sector that meet B Lab’s social and environmental performance standards.

According to the company, only around 70 organizations in this sector currently hold B Corp status. More broadly, B Lab says there are now more than 10,000 Certified B Corporations operating in over 100 countries, including more than 640 in France.

The certification comes as the live events industry faces growing pressure from clients, regulators and audiences to improve transparency around environmental impact, supply chains and working practices.

Key announcement

L-Acoustics confirmed that it has achieved B Corp certification via B Lab’s Large Enterprise and Multinational pathway, which is designed for companies with complex, multi-site operations. The assessment covers the entire L-Acoustics Group across 13 locations worldwide.

B Corp status is based on a detailed, third-party evaluation of governance, worker policies, community engagement, environmental footprint and customer impact. Companies must reach a minimum verified score on the B Impact Assessment and amend their legal framework to balance profit with broader stakeholder interests.

L-Acoustics CEO Hervé Guillaume said the certification reflects ongoing internal work on sustainability and governance. While this is a significant milestone, the designation requires regular reassessment, meaning the company will need to demonstrate continued progress to retain its status in future review cycles.

Industry impact

For rental companies, integrators and venues, the move provides an independently audited framework against which to evaluate L-Acoustics when making purchasing or specification decisions. This may be increasingly relevant as event organizers set stricter ESG criteria for suppliers.

In particular, the certification offers external validation in three areas that L-Acoustics highlights as priorities: employee wellbeing and safety; reduction of environmental impact across product lifecycles and operations; and support for culture, education and inclusion through sound-based initiatives in local communities.

Other pro audio manufacturers are also exploring formal sustainability benchmarks, but B Corp remains relatively uncommon in this segment. L-Acoustics’ participation could encourage further uptake of structured reporting and third-party verification across the sector.

Why this matters

For event technology professionals, B Corp certification is becoming one of several reference points used to assess the broader impact of suppliers, alongside standards such as ISO environmental management frameworks and venue-level sustainability programs.

As more tenders and long-term framework agreements incorporate sustainability criteria, manufacturers with recognized third-party credentials may find it easier to align with client expectations and demonstrate compliance.

L-Acoustics has published additional detail on its approach and performance in a 2025 Impact Report and an accompanying short film, available via the company’s corporate social responsibility section at https://www.l-acoustics.com/about-us/corporate-social-responsibility/.

For the wider live events ecosystem, the announcement reflects a broader trend: sound, lighting and staging suppliers are increasingly expected not only to deliver technical performance but also to document how their operations affect people, communities and the environment.
