Sarah Aivaz is Shepard’s SVP of Business Solutions. She is focused on overall enhancements, especially utilizing event technology. “My objective is to improve the system as a whole, rather than just address specific problems,” she says.

She continues, “This approach is essential in business.” As we put solutions into practice, we take into account how they will affect every aspect of Shepard’s ecology. The goal is to have good spillover effects on the entire organization.

How does she accomplish that? Finding the “why” and going deeper are the key, according to Sarah. “Every time, I ask, ‘What are you going to do with this?'” What are your company’s objectives? My approach to problem-solving always involves considering both upstream and downstream processes and forming process partnerships.

It should come as no surprise that a large portion of her work involves event technology and coming up with creative, tech-driven ways to enhance the experience for Shepard’s associates and its clients—whether that means streamlining the ordering procedure, cutting down on wait times at service desks, or coming up with another unique solution.

“The best experience on a show site, in my opinion, is when there are no lines at our service desk; when our customers can contact us through an event tech solution without having to leave their booths, or when they can arrive at an event fully prepared,” she says. “I want exhibitors to spend as much time as possible in their booths.”

So just how is she achieving that? These are some cutting-edge technological innovations that currently have her very thrilled.
