A very good camera on the price-performance scaleOk, I have to admit I’m getting to be a fan of SV3C. This is the third camera I have purchased from them for various rental properties, and this PTZ security camera is spot-on when it comes to performance vs. cost.Right out of the box the installation process was a breeze. The camera comes with everything you need to get it set up, including mounting hardware and power cable/adaptor – you just supply the ladder. I had it connected to my WiFi network in minutes, so it went from box to live feed on my phone in less than an hour. The PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) functionality on this camera is top notch. It lets me easily control the camera from my phone and move it around to get a better view of the area being monitored. This camera is being used in the back of a rental property looking out for wildlife, specifically coyotes, and kids using ATV’s and motorcycles in my fields. With the PTZ feature, I can easily move the camera around to get a better view of the surrounding area, and with the cloud feature and motion detection, I can review film over the course of the day to find out in anyone is trespassing on my land. Best of all, the camera can be set to follow an object as it moves across the field of view, set off an alarm, and/or turn on a light. The image quality of the camera is also excellent, especially the smart full-color night vision (when motion is detected). It has 5 megapixel HD resolution, which means the video footage is crystal clear even when digitally zoomed in. The camera rotates 355 degrees, which allows it to capture an entire six acres from one vantage point on my barn. In terms of durability, the camera seems to be very well-made. It already had its first battle against the weather – almost 3” of rain – and came out without fogging up or other issues. This is critical for Massachusetts as we can get some rather extreme weather at times.Overall, I’m extremely happy with this latest PTZ security camera from SV3C. It is a high-quality product that’s easy to install and use, and it provides excellent image quality and coverage. I would definitely recommend it to anyone in need of a reliable security camera at an affordable price.

A great high quality camera with loads of features for a reasonable price..This is a great camera but you may need to purchase an additional SD memory card or enroll in the Cloud Storage Service if you don’t have either an NVR or NAS drive that supports the ONVIF protocol to record the motion alert videos. Otherwise you will just get a screen capture of the alert in your app and you won’t be able to view any video without the aforementioned services. I do note that with my NVR setup, I have to rely on the CloudEdge app for my individual motion detection alerts but I do get 24/7 recording on the NVR which is really what I need. The app will allow you to MANUALLY record directly to your phone’s photo album. The camera enclosure is made from plastic as opposed to metal which (despite an IP66 rating) may become a problem in some locations outdoors over time (like exposure to the direct sun or water over time). Setup is a breeze and I particularly like the setup voice prompts. You will also have to create an account to use the recommended CloudEdge app. Opening the CloudEdge app and logging into your camera establishes an “encrypted channel” to view the video feed which, I imagine, is an additional advantage for those with security concerns. While the app on your phone will force a log off after some period of time, it can remember your password so you can quickly log back in. The app will also check for new firmware versions which is highly desirable. The picture quality is 5MP (2560×1920) which gives a nice clear picture. I’ve only had the camera for a short time but because it has “human motion” triggers and the ability to customize the alert areas, I’ve had significantly fewer “false alarms” than any of my other cameras. My camera is also located indoors so I will have to try it outdoors at some point with blowing wind and tree shadows to see how the detection alerts really perform. Importantly, although a PTZ camera, there is no “optical” zoom. The panning, however. is extremely fast and smooth! I also really like the “noise detection” and movement auto-tracking as additional “motion detection” features. You can also set a Privacy Schedule to turn the camera off in case your camera is indoors and you don’t want it to record in the evenings while you are home. The camera supports Amazon Alexa through an Amazon Echo as well as Google Home and the ONVIF protocol for other third party NVR recorders. I’ve owned many cameras and found the service at SV3C to be extremely responsive and service oriented. Overall a great camera for the price and a solid company that really backs up their cameras!

Excellent Security Camera at a Very Low PriceThe media could not be loaded.
I’ve had this camera for the past week and it is a bargain if you are looking for a security camera.Setup was a breeze. Took me less than one minute. Just go to the CloudEdge App, click the “+” sign and follow the instructions. With two antennas I had no problem connecting to the camera over WiFi. It takes less than 3 seconds for the picture to open. One annoying feature of the CloudEdge App is if you switch devices to watch the camera picture, such as from iPhone to iPad, you need to log back in to the App. Your password is saved so it is just a single touch of the “Log In” button. Seems like an unnecessary step. The 5MP picture is amazing. Very clear. In order to capture video you will need either a SD memory card or subscribe to the cloud service. They do offer a free 7 day trial period to see if you like it. The difference is if someone were to steal the camera all video goes with the camera if you haven’t downloaded from the memory card. With the cloud service all video is stored in the cloud so you won’t lose anything. You might even see who stole your camera. If you are thinking of using this as a security camera you won’t be disappointed. Not only does it provide an alarm but also a bright light. If that doesn’t discourage someone nothing will. The PTZ is very responsive and fast. There are also presets which allow you to create “Bookmarks”. Then all you have to do is push one of the “Bookmarks” and it goes immediately to a preset position. If you want to zoom in you will need to use your fingers on your screen as this is a digital zoom.Auto tracking is also very good, especially with the subject 10 feet or more away. Not so much with a person real close to the camera. The speaker and microphone on the camera are also very good. The sound is very clear from the camera and my iPhone.Night vision in color is amazing. Only drawback is the bright floodlight that is needed to provide a color picture. One of the brightest lights I have seen on a camera. However, you can turn on the floodlight from the App if you need extra lighting in the area.I have several SV3C cameras and they are all quality made. I had to contact customer service once and they were very responsive. I look forward to seeing what they will come up with next.

works on coldest daysI like using it for birdwatching. I have it pointed at a woodpile birds love. This cam is a better choice for subfreezing days than cams with a lithium battery inside (which is most wifi cams). Lithium batteries should be kept above freezing but if it’s inside the cam, you can’t keep it warm. With this cam, on the other hand, you can give it any kind of power source you want.I looked at the video properties and it does indeed say 5 MP. That’s a high resolution for the price. I’ve already owned a different SV3C security cam for over a year and they make a good cam. That cam has worked in all weather conditions in the past year and this one I’m reviewing survived a string of subfreezing days and a pile of snow and ice.Its wire has a USB type A plug at the end which fits into a wall charger that it comes with. That means you can plug it into either the wall or a power bank like the kind you charge phones with.

Great entry level PTZ camera! The media could not be loaded.
I am reviewing the SV3C PTZ WiFi Outdoor, 5MP Security Camera (Model C16) found here…https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGHWFMNZ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detailsThis is a great entry level PTZ camera. It has a few bells and whistles, but falls short of some features that advanced users might desire. I own many SV3C cameras and I’m very happy with them.Setup is quick and easy with either the SV3C Cloud app or the CloudEdge app. Both apps appear to be identical. This camera will not work with CamHi or CamHiPro or any other app. The camera is ONVIF compliant with a couple caveats. You have to turn ONVIF on in the SV3C Cloud or CloudEdge app first before you can use ONVIF. See my notes at the end of my review for advanced users. The camera has an SD card slot. You can purchase an SD card separately to store video right in the camera or you can use the SV3C Cloud service. It’s free for 7 days and then you would need to purchase their cloud storage package. I don’t use any cloud services, so I have no idea what the cost would be.As for the quality of the camera… it’s great. The camera has humanoid detection, an alarm, if you want to enable it, and great night vision. 2-way audio allows you to communicate with someone standing near the camera. You can access the live feed of the camera from anywhere if you aren’t home. Of all my SV3C cameras, this camera is the fastest when panning. It’s pretty quick. Zooming is digital only. There is no optical zoom. For perspective, the unfinished shed in the background of my video is just over 100 feet away.SV3C makes great cameras. I continue to be a fan.A note for advanced users requiring ONVIF compliance: (If you don’t know what ONVIF is, stop reading. You don’t need or use it.)This camera is dhcp only. You cannot set it for a static IP. While it is ONVIF compliant, you have to turn ONVIF on in the SV3C Cloud or CloudEdge app. You cannot configure this camera by directly connecting to the IP address. You can only configure it with either app. Also… you cannot change the ports. You are stuck with port 8000 for http, port 8554 for RTSP and port 80 for a snapshot.

Affordable Pan/Tilt Security CameraThe camera works exactly as advertised. It was very easy to install and to get setup. I also used ONVIF to connect it to Blue Iris and it works great. I have the camera on my front door and prefer it to a door bell cam. The SV3C Cloud app works very well on Android and even provides motion alert notifications with a still image capture without subscription to the cloud service.

excellent for the priceThis camara works great when using the app. It is difficult to set up if you want to view it on your PC using Blue Iris or other imaging programs. Pan and Tilt (PT) functionality is not available when using Blue Iris. You need to forward port 8554 to use RTSP streaming. I use the SD memory card to record continuously and this is a nice feature. I would like to turn off the IR night imaging light but I don’t see any way of controlling that. The on/off control of the spot light is a very nice feature. Enjoy this camera. It is fun to play with!

Good value, with some caveatsI own several security cameras for viewing wildlife around my property, many of which are from SV3C. The company makes a range of different cameras for various purposes and budgets, and I have found them to be quite good quality over the years. This particular camera I would put at the budget-friendly end, while still having good quality and features. There are a couple of things to be aware of, though. First, the tilt of the camera is limited to just slightly lower than horizontal to the ground. This is not an issue if you have it mounted reasonably high (e.g., near the eaves of a house). But if you want to have it mounted lower, you will end up with a limited ability to view upwards. Secondly, unlike all my other security cameras that have a 5.5 x 2.1 mm barrel plug for the power supply, this one uses a USB connection. Depending on your situation, this may not be a problem, or might even be preferable, but is something to be aware of. All in all, this camera provides good quality for a low cost, just be sure it works for your setup.
That One Review Guy –
Great value optionOkay, I’ve used some pretty great cameras in the past, which ironically makes me a terrible choice to review these cheaper cameras… except when they provide a noticeable bang for the buck like this unit. All it’s missing is PoE power (and data), which honestly shouldn’t cost any more than USB-powering these days. It’s a bit annoying that the device is powered by USB-A, and honestly the cord for a product like this can never be long enough or right-sized to a specific deployment… you get what you get. It would be nice if the cord was weatherproofed along with the sd card slot and modular to enable longer/shorter cords… but I’m guessing at the price point it doesn’t really matter much… but it does mean bringing power within 10’ or so of the camera itself, which either limits placement or guarantees additional costs beyond what you see in your cart.Picture quality and features are good – I especially like the ONVIF/RTSP capability missing in a lot of the budget cameras. I’m tempted to open this one up and see if I can’t address the power/cable length issue somehow, but I’m sure I’ll find a fun way to deploy this somewhere.Definitely construction indicates interior use – it’s all plastic, with clear seams and a very light/fragile feel.Overall though, it’s amazing what $50 can get you today that $500 couldn’t just a few years ago!

Works for meOverall- good image (see attached images for day and night examples. (Note: the images were captured through a window so the white dots, etc. are from the window).- easy to set up and get online with CloudEdge- Support is responsive – timely answers to questionsI have a earlier version SV3C camera. Compared to earlier versions:- image is not a susceptible to glare- microphone seems a more sensitive- night vision – can see a bit further; stays in day mode longer- doesn’t have the issue with open (i.e., not waterproof) connectionsDidn’t like:- My previous cameras were IP cameras. This camera does not connect to the software (HiP2P, CamHi Pro) which I was using, so to get all cameras using the same software, had to migrate all cameras to a different application.- Doesn’t support email alerts (but, of course, this can be set up using third party software – see above point).
