Description
The Saramonic CamMic+ is a lightweight yet durably built, AA powered shotgun microphone that delivers clear, broadcast-quality sound to DSLR, mirrorless, video cameras and mobile devices. Its directional pickup pattern excels at capturing sounds in front of the mic, while rejecting sounds to the sides and rear. It’s a premium mic with impressive construction at an affordable price that’s incredibly easy to use, and it can be used with a wide variety of cameras and mobile devices. A standout feature of the CamMic+ design is the unique mic shock mount. The wiry shock mounts on some competing mic are flimsy and prone to bending, this can cause some unwanted audio issues and change the way the mic picks up sound. The integrated shock mount of CamMic+ is robust and features a sleek and stable design. A dual layered uniquely designed bullet like windscreen is included, giving the CamMic+ its unique and interesting look. It features a sturdy gasket which aids in blocking wind noise, helps to protect the mic from weather and dust, and keeps it securely fastened in place while on the go.

PerfectWay better and more compact than the rode same size options. Just don’t forget to turn it off…it runs a battery. Sound is great.

Not convinced this is great value for moneyDisclosure: I bought the Saramonic Cam Mic Plus from a camera store where I live in Israel and not from Amazon. Nevertheless, it’s the same product. And I even reached out to Saramonic for advice on what dead cat to buy (the OEM one, they directed me to their official Aliexpress store). The good news first: this is a shotgun mic that is battery powered. Therefore, it will work with a camera that doesn’t supply any power through the mic jack. Now the bad news: firstly, I haven’t been blown away by the sound quality, including when using the noise filter. It all sounds a bit tinny to me. I’ve also found the foam to be of unusually flimsy quality: it just keeps falling off, which makes it hard to use this mic on a boom pole. Finally, I’ve had an issue with the mic literally falling off its shock mount due to a loose screw. All these issues collectively tell me either that I’m doing a terrible job at protecting the microphone. OR (and this is what I believe) the build quality just isn’t that great. If you have the budget, I’d recommend spending the money on something a bit better.
