Description
The Samson MixPad MXP144FX 12-channel mixer gives you high quality built-in effects to add the final polish to your mix. Even better, a built-in USB connection makes it simple to record your mixer to your DAW software on your computer. To fine-tune your sound, you’ve got compressors on the first four channels, and a 3-band EQ on every channel. When you need a capable small-format mixer that sounds great and won’t break your bank account, GearNuts can recommend the Samson MixPad MXP144FX 12-channel mixer.

The Samson MixPad MXP144 Is Easy To Use, Sounds Good, And Offers Essential Mixing OptionsThis mixer actually surprised us, provides way more quality than we expected. We didn’t need a high $ studio grade mixer, although we had a list of needed options. We found that the Mixpad MXP144 provided them all at the best price available. The routing is straight-forward, with a Main Mix for your PA speakers, plus a second set of outs via Mix 2 that are perfect for sending to a recording interface. The 3 Band EQ actually sounds good, all the faders have an equal resistence when moved, plus individual channel mutes are essential kit. The preamps get the job done, sound as good as any other budget mixer, while the channel inserts allowed us to use high quality outboard gear where needed. We added a decent effects unit, supplying a global reverb across all channels. The only weak spot is the channel compressors, but there is a sweet spot that makes them useable. We love this mixer,as it does it all for us. Our only concern is durability. It sure would be awesome if this mixer keeps on working for years, cuz it blew us away performance-wise. Samson?! Who woulda thought it, but they got this mixer exactly right.

The results so far have been fantastic, audio quality is superb and professionalI use this for on location podcasting, using with a 4 mics and a headphone splitter. The results so far have been fantastic, audio quality is superb and professional. Make sure if you plan to use this to record out to a PC or MAC to but the MXP124FX, it was not obvious to me at first, on the product list at top choose 12 Channel with Effects, I ordered wrong one first but it was replaced quickly. I don’t use the effects much but they are a great added bonus. With the 124FX you get the USB return port, this allows you to send to the computer and back, so you can actually have 4 people on the deck and you can then inlclude a Skype conversation or group convo using the return back into the mixer. I have actually tested this using the deck with laptop and Adobe Audition and also tested with Audacity and it works perfectly. This Mixpad came highly recommended to me from other podcast shows and if you are thinking of taking whatever you do to the next level, I highly recommend this, extremely good value for money!

Does exactly what I needI had to buy a lot more cables than I thought to get this connected to my PC, but the wait for them to ship was worth it. I can run everything through the board – PC music/sounds, phone and Skype, headset – to produce my podcast. My only complaint is that I can’t hear my mic in my headphones, but that is likely an issue with the headset. I will update when I try a standalone mic with it.But this mixer is great for podcasting (probably live radio too, as there’s very little noise) especially for the price. I would absolutely recommend it!

I recommend that anyone wishing to purchase this piece of equipment …UPDATE: It’s been over two months now and this unit is still working great. So much flexibility in a small package. I bought a mic stand adapter to put it on and I use it every day. My experience so far has been very good.Clean sound. Layout is straight-forward and functional. I bought mine used for under $70, and was really impressed by the bang for the buck. Use: home project studio – so I have no idea how road worthy the unit is, as the case is plastic. I’m writing this having received it only yesterday. So…I recommend that anyone wishing to purchase this piece of equipment to read the other reviews.

Budget Level Mixer that could be BetterNot real analog- so don’t expect top sound quality from this mixer. Still it does work well but as for the built in effects – you could do better with lower-end pedals such as Donner or Behringer. The USB does work with Audacity and you get a pretty clear sound with any output that has a quarter-inch; however, as for anything you plug in with a headphone jack output- sound is terribly low and you should look elsewhere as this mixer does not have a built in preamp.
