Description

Wavo Lav PRO expands the lineup of JOBY microphones, introducing a high-quality lavalier (lapel) microphone with minimalist dimensions and built-in PRO-grade capsule. The reduced dimensions are the key to easy concealment while staying close to the mouth. The capsule can then deliver broadcast-quality sound for demanding creators. The omnidirectional pattern, as usual for lavs, captures sound wherever the person is looking. The intentionally long black cable is made to work in harmony with Wavo PRO for the best interview setup. The cable flexibility and length are also ideal to accommodate any shooting setup and avoid unwanted cabling noise.

    Quality sound at reasonable price
Product came with great reviews and value price.Easy setup, great sound quality and easy controls

Overall a good mic, with one flaw…..
The mic does a great job enhancing the audio on my cell phone. The material and constructions is good. The one thing that bothers me, is that there is no notch to secure the cord like the Rode version does. The mic also tends to drop forward and down, even without the dead cat on. If there was notch to secure the cord, the cord could help support the mic and keep it straight.

  3. J Miller

Great sound quality and easy to use
This is a very handy little mic and it picks up sound really well. The windguard makes it suitable for using outdoors as well. A word of warning though, if you are also using the Joby capture remote which comes with their gorilla pods, it occassionally will not work because it uses a signal like “volume down” to activate the shutter and when the microphone is plugged in to your phone, in the headset socket or usb port, this can disable that feature.

    Works well very reasonable value
I really like this little mic and the clip-in holding device it has the fluffy baffle seems to work well I’ve managed to get some quite nice recordings with it but if you do have a modern phone like for instance I have an S20 you will need a good quality adaptor you can buy a straightforward adaptor that just plugs into your charging point this will work for a mic or headphones or you can get the adaptor that allows you to still plug your charger into as well well while also having the adaptor for the mic but for all round general use I found it very suitable

Avoid this product and buy something else…
Where to start. I bought this product 2 months ago and have been giving it my honest try and there are too many critical things that I cannot overlook to recommend it. Here are the cons:1) Faint clicking noise in the audio recordings:I have tried two cameras with multiple gain settings (GH5ii/ZV1) adjusting the onboard camera gain settings and the mic itself (ANR active/inactive) and I can’t get it to go away. If it weren’t for this I could stomach the other shortcomings but clean audio should be priority number one.2) Sometimes mic wont turn on:There are some instances where I found that the mic will straight up not turn on. I have found that the auto on/off feature that turns the mic on/off when the camera power is on/off is the culprit. If you cant turn your mic on with this enabled you have to plug in the mic and charge it and turn on the mic from there to get it working again. I encountered this issue shooting in the field and the mic was rendered useless for that shoot. Now I am left just leaving the auto on/off feature completely disabled to avoid this issue.3) Bluetooth connectivity is awful:A lot of the video reviews that are still up mention bluetooth connectivity being finicky. I thought maybe it was user error but for the life of me I cannot get the phone app to connect to the mic. It will maybe connect after 5 times if I am lucky. This is the only way to turn on/off the active noise cancellation. I will try resetting my phone, turning bluetooth on and off on my phone, turning the mic on and off and then turning on bluetooth. For a million dollars I could not even say I could make this mic connect two my phone two times in a row successfully. There are some pros after all of this but these should not matter due to the fact the first 3 issues make this product un-buyable but here they are.The sound is actually decent (sans faint clicking), I like that you can input another audio source via 3.5mm jack and record on the second channel (main reason why I bought this mic), and the battery from what I can tell lasts a decent while. Other than that go with something else.

Joby s attempt at a mic
I was hesitant at first to get this cause the well known and used rhode mic was what I was after but out of stock so I seen this and it was cheaper to my surprise I can’t really even tell any difference between the 2. This joby has worked perfect since I got it and I’ve used it in numerous settings on multiple devices from action cams to cell phones to an osmo pocket.

  8. UK buyer

    Average.
It’s “OK”. Very little spatial stereo separation, and the sound is a bit muffled. Probably best to spend a bit more on a Rode. Nice & small though, and if you can’t stretch to the Rode, this will do the job.

  9. SW

    Useful piece of kit
I use it to record myself reading for my students while we cannot teach face to face. Unsurprisingly, the resulting quality is a lot better than the in-built microphone on my phone and the directionality is great. Note: this microphone is designed to be attached to a camera but I use it either on a mini tripod or balance it on the edge of the phone. It works for me and I would buy it again.
