Great – but telephoto mode is not so good
I like this PTZ camera. This is the second Fomako I have owned (20x SDI and 30x SDI) as they have got a great picture and represent very good value. I use them for corporate events and conferences, and for live sport as a second camera. The software is particularly good to keep the pictures looking good and equivalent to broadcast cameras. Indeed the dynamic range adjustments, Gamma, BLC and exposure tweaks make this a very good camera. Likewise there are 3 noise reduction features and image sharpening in the software – this gives good images. The PTZ control is not really practical using the remote so I use either a network remote Streamdeck+ Companion software, or a networked iPhone running a PTZ control app. I find this more flexible than a hardware controller.But – the lens is the weakness. Both the 20x and the 30x are sharp and perform well for most of the focal range, but once you zoom in to the last 30% of the focal range (the telephoto end) the pictures go soft and are unusable. Now this may be where the clever software is unable to sharpen the inherrently soft optics at this very long range, or maybe to much noise reduction – or it might be just poor optical design at the long end… but there is no way I can get sharp images at full telephoto. Note: this is not digital zoom as I switch that off (as it is already unacceptable poor).So overall this PTZ camera is great only if you use it with a reduced 30x lens range, say upto 20x.

Great video & Optical Zoom is Nice…
Love the camera but I would’ve appreciated some more local support. This camera had a communications issue and I had to get a replacement. I’m using ethernet (POE) and a separate HDMI line to a video switch in my Church. I found there was no video over the ethernet link on this 30x camera, but two others I bought (20x) worked fine. Amazon worked with me in replacing it. New one works great. I do have some questions regarding video/audio synch issues. It’s difficult resolving them via email, but I’m becoming resourceful in finding solutions now.

Great picture, excellent value
Purchased these for our small church and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the recording. All of our media team is volunteer based and it did take quite the team effort to figure out how to get the system fully up and running.I wish the manual was written in better English… but on the flip side, when I contacted the customer service department they responded in a very timely manner in spite of the time difference – and was very helpful.We were happy enough with the system that we ended up purchasing a third camera.

Not Sure I’d Purchase Again
I purchased the 12X Zoom for our small church a year and a half ago. Initial setup with Mac computer was difficult because all the manual instructions were for Windows and DOS. An email to China got a pretty quick response and go it set up and operating. I use it with OBS software, and operator inexperience took some time to figure out how to operate without logging on to the Camera’s website.Yesterday the camera stopped being able to focus. Some research has indicated I should upgrade the camera’s firmware, but the company’s website isn’t exactly user friendly, so I am having some difficulty.While we love the picture quality in all types of light, this ongoing communication problem is something I would think twice about before purchasing another one of these cameras.

Steuerung gut, Bildqualität schlecht
Die Kamera lässt sich recht gut steuern. Leider ist über VISCA aber keine Steuerung des Gains möglich. Der Zoom ist beim Abrufen von Presets sehr langsam. Gut ist die Weboberfläche mit den vielen Optionen, und auch am PoE+-Switch fühlt sich die Kamera wohl. Letztendlich führte die Bildqualität bei mir aber zur Rücksendung, für halbwegs professionelle Ansprüche schlicht ungeeignet und auf dem Niveau eines mittelmäßigen Smartphones. Um hier punkten zu können, muss man doppelt bis dreimal so viel Geld ausgeben.Nun mal sehen, ob ich die Rückerstattung auch bekomme, Amazon hat das Paket jedenfalls empfangen.

Great Camera Greta Service
I originally bought the 20x version of this camera but due to the 55 degree FOV I had to return it. The location I was installing needed a wider FOV. The return was easy. I then purchased the 12X version which has a wider FOV. I am utilizing the POE feature and had a little problem with getting the IP address changed. Manual said to email Ivan at FoMaKo for help. I had a response in about 6 hours with suggestions on what to do to get it working. He even followed up with a second email to make sure everything was good. I followed his advice and everything is up and running. Picture is excellent and the controls are very smooth.

Quality optical capture
The PTZ camera operated as explained. However, I had difficulty figuring out how to use with live streaming until I got a video card and attached it through a USB port.
