The ULTRA-DI DI400P is a passive DI (Direct Injection) box for connecting a guitar, bass or keyboard directly to your mixer. With the DI400P as your go-between, impedance-matching problems become a thing of the past, and long cable runs will not sacrifice all of your precious tone.
Directly to the Point
With its parallel 1/4″ IN and OUT jacks, the DI400P allows you to plug in your instrument and send the same signal to your onstage amplifier, while the XLR OUTPUT sends a balanced signal to your mixer. A ground lift switch eliminates hum associated with ground loops and our high-performance transformer provides the ultimate in signal integrity.
Great Sound, Exceptional Value
The ULTRA-DI DI400P is also ultra-compact and we house it in a tough, road-ready metal case. This means the DI box will give you great sound gig after gig, session after session. And thanks to its low price, you can afford to outfit the entire band. See for yourself at your nearest BEHRINGER dealer.

Did Not Work For My NeedsUPDATE 4/11/2017: To better clarify, I don’t know much about this stuff. I went up two stars because in all fairness, just because it is no use to me, it may be for others. I plan to keep it, as now that I understand exactly why this can be very useful. The original review is unchanged. It also shows others on Amazon can explain things. So it pays to read comments. And never give anything a poor rating just because you can’t figure it out. That’s on you. Thanx! My results may differ from yours, but this is my review:I am not a stage performer, I like to record on my 8 Track that I just recently bought. Being unfamiliar with the digital age of recording (I was using an old cassette type 4 track before) I needed to see what my options for sound pedals were. I was told and also read that to use a sound petal directly to the recorder would sound unpleasant unless I used one of these.Well, this turned out to be totally useless to me. My guitar pedals all sound just fine without this gadget. Using this made absolutely no difference at all. I even tried it directly to my amp, again absolutely no difference. Experienced professionals are probably laughing right now, but to me this was a useless purchase. Maybe under certain circumstances, this may do the trick. That’s the only reason I did not give it a 1 star rating.

I rarely give five-star reviewsBut this deserves it. Listen, a DI box is nothing but one in and two outs with a transformer between them. Would a $250 Neve DI box sound better? Possibly. Will a $100 Radial last longer? Probably. Do I care? Oh my Carl Sagan no, this little DI box sounds great and it’s small enough to fit right on my pedal board. I do not baby this unit: It’s been dropped, it’s gotten rain on it, and it still sounds wonderful. I run two amps- a big-wattage solid-state bass amp for the lows and an all-tube guitar amp for the mids and highs, and a third line is just clean DI. I have used green Radial DI boxes, the industry standard, every time I go into the studio, but I wanted one for myself. I simply couldn’t justify spending $100 on a little box with two 1/4″ jacks, and XLR jack and a transformer in it when the world’s largest musical equipment company sells this for several times less. I really cannot tell the difference.

Perfect for keyboards!I purchased this because of the through connector. I am connecting the left 1/4 inch out of a Casio Privia to the 1/4 inch input of this, running the 1/4 inch through to a
Fender Rumble 25 v3 Bass Combo Amplifier
to use as a monitor, and the output to a PA channel. The bass amp is an excellent keyboard amp in its own right, but it’s an even better monitor. I had been using a
Mackie SRM150
as a monitor along with a mic. The problem was both the keyboard and the mic mix went to single PA channel. With this DI box I can use the bass amp as the keyboard monitor and the SRM150 as a two-channel mic monitor. One other feature that I love this box’s versatility. In my home studio I am connecting my keyboard directly to a
PowerWerks PW50 RMS Personal PA System
. Without running it through this box I get hum. Inserting this box into the signal path completely eliminates it.At the time of this review this box was going for about twenty bucks. That is a tiny price to pay for both the convenience and versatility.

Very useful device, does what it’s supposed to do!I’m a member of a church with a rather ancient sound system that is quite lacking. The only inputs available in the sanctuary are XLR inputs intended for mics and nothing else. This device has allowed me to plug a laptop into the sound system to play prerecorded music and electric acoustic instruments like a guitar. I have a small portable audio mixer that I have plugged into the church system using this device so I can plug multiple inputs into the mixer which in turn is plugged into a single XLR jack allowing me to balance/control them locally myself rather than having to rely on someone in another room off the side of the church sanctuary who cannot actually hear and see what’s happening in the sanctuary. I have, in fact, recommended this device to colleagues in other churches who have purchased it and been very pleased with the results. I would certainly purchase it again.

Fixes Ground LoopsBefore using this product, I encountered audio buzzing and audible changes in power draw when trying to record my synthesizer. After some research, I found out this was due to a ground loop. At first, I bought a cheap ground loop isolator. This solved the major interference problems but left me with a high noise floor; there was a constant hissing sound in my recordings. Unsatisfied, I decided to try this direct injection box with ground lift. Although it was slightly more expensive, it has solved the problem very well. There is still a slight hiss when the recording volume is turned up high, but it is acceptable and unnoticeable at normal volumes. Considering the price, I think this is a great solution to ground loop problems.

Does what it’s supposed toTook me a try or two to realize I had to set the switch to Ground option. But I confess to not reading any docs. Using an ABY splitter I compared the Ultra DI DI-400P against the instrument level DI on the audio interface. Indeed the Passive DI box made a pretty big difference in the tone and signal. It’s another tool in my growing list of options for setting up a signal chain to meet various needs.

Great Passive DI-BoxGreat passive DI box. I use it for having my bass going to computer direct to be put through Neural Parallax VST while the parallel circuit allows me to also run the signal through my Axe FX II XL+. If I do disconnect and not use the DI box when I’m playing guitar, I do notice more noise on my high gain patches.
