10 reviews for Audient iD4 MKII USB-C Audio Interface

Simply the best modern usb audio interface.Pros: The audio quality is like nothing else in this price range. I own a focusrite 3rd gen and it beats it by far in audio quality.Cons: 1)Windows drivers are buggy, sometimes computer audio won’t be routed sometimes it will a bit unreliable while using computer audio. Now it records in daws flawlessly the only problem is whe using computer audio driver wont work (there may be a workaround or future update fix I hope)2) Android compatibility issue; on Samsung S21 ultra the mkii did not work but with the A71 did I used Cubasis 3 and it works flawlessly. Guess it is a hit or miss with android and windows. Now with all this being said the pros outweigh the cons because the sound quality is worth it. But I will give it 4 stars un til they fix both compatibility issues for Windows and Android.

Great audio quality, but terrible user-friendlinessMy Scarlett Focusrite 2i2 was starting to show its age. It was great in terms of being plug and play, but the phantom power it provided was unreliable, which led to my Audio Technica at2035 resulting in a robotic voice sometimes. The iD4 MKII has great audio quality especially for its premaps and a lot of gain range. There’s minimal noise when a mic is connected to it. Build quality is also great as there some heft to it. This is great as I primarily use this for voice acting as I am not a musician. However like some other reviews mentioned, the main volume knob on the right is digital. In other words, it DOES NOT save your volume setting so when you turn off computer that it’s connected to or you unplug the audio interface, the volume resets back down to zero. This is incredibly inconvenient and a fatal flaw for an audio interface that is $200 when cheaper audio interfaces don’t have this issue. Moreover, the software also resets the sound format to 44000 hz each time. So it’s another inconvenient not having that setting saved.I ended up returning the iD4 MKII to Amazon. If I’m paying this much for an audio interface, I want it to be an upgrade to my old one in every way. There shouldn’t be a downgrade in convenience and user friendliness.

Fantastic interface but with the same flaws as the ID4. Can’t give this a 5 anymore. The Audient ID4 Mark 2 is a fantastic audio interface but it has the exact same flaws of the Audient ID4.Audient, in general, has a ONE KNOB RULES ALL sort of mentality. And it can be very frustrating. The Audient ID4 Mark 2 doesn’t really save your audio settings for your headphones if you switch from computer to computer. It’s all digital. Each time you turn off your computer or unplug your interface you have to set all the settings all over again. It’s not like the MOTU M2 or the Scarlett Solo/2i2 or the SSL2 where the knobs are physical and there are individual knobs for each settting.Just like the Audient EVO4, the ID4 Mark 2 doesn’t keep your settings. In fact, there’s no real way to really save your headphone settings. You sort of “earball” them and that’s a dealbreaker for me. The fact I have to keep rolling the knob until I hit between -12 and -6 is poor functionality. I should have the same settings no matter where I go and no matter what computer I use.And it’s unfortunate because aside from that, this is almost a perfect audio interface.Great preamps. Lots of gain range. Low self-noise. Perfect for anything needed in voiceover.Great sounding preamps, one of the best ranked headphone amps according to Julian Krause’s reviews.Extremely quiet preamps in terms of self-noise.Overall almost a perfect package but I really, really, really dislike the One Knob setup of Audient interfaces so I can’t give it a 5. Give me an ID4 where I can move it to any computer and all my settings are saved. It’s for this reason I can’t whole heartedly recommend it because I personally prefer physical knobs for everything.PS I’m not Lone Mongel. He’s another person. Just noticed he has some of the same interfaces as me but we are different people.

It’s a steal for this priceAudient is one of those companies that doesn’t advertise as much as focusrite, universal audio, antelope, but they are at that class if not better. I really needed a portable interface that I can keep in my luggage when travelling. Yesterday I put this interface through its paces with the Beyerdynamic DT 700 X Pro. I pulled up my ableton mix sessions and I got the sound I wanted. The details sound great with the built-in headphone amp section . My soft synths like Dune3 sounded as good as if I had a focusrite clarett or Apollo interface. I have mastering grade interfaces like Merging but that is the only one that would beat this interface with conversion. For 10% of the price of an Anubis I can lug this around my suitcase for studio sessions overseas and not cry if it breaks, overall I am a happy customer with this purchase.

A great product with a terrible softwareWhen it works, it works great, but it absolutely has problems. Build quality and sound quality are great! The associated iD app is quite useless and actually caused me severe problems and functions better with the app closed. The app had a tendency to abruptly DESTROY the audio at any time. It would, at random, once every now and then, TURN THE VOLUME TO FULL as well as ultra-compress and distort the audio greatly, with a loud static background to boot. Hopefully this bug is patched because it will give you an absolute heart attack when your audio abruptly goes as loud as the device will allow and be as distorted as a 2012 deep fried MLG meme. The sample rate setting is also extremely buggy and can occasionally reset itself, this is also due to the app and can be set and used without the app.On an extra note, the mute speakers button and the iD button on the front do absolutely nothing, which is a shame. This is probably ALSO associated with the software, which is very annoying.A great product, sadly combined with absolute software gore and whenever they fix it, the product will be perfect! You can, and should, use it without the app if you encounter issues. (You do still need the driver, I think)11/10 potential, would love to hear from Audient if I’m the first to report this issues and if they are working on fixes. I DO still recommend it, just needs a bit of debugging.

Nice to use professional gear.I host/record/edit a weekly 1 hour syndicated pre-record talk show with more than 520 episodes to date. Starting two years ago, I began using my own home studio with phone/online interviews. I decided to switch from a USB mic to my higher grade “ENG” dynamic mics and this interface is much nicer that cheap plastic ones.It will let me use phantom power if ever needed and has very clean sound. Plugged right into my Windows 11 laptop and the downloaded apps work fine with Adobe Audition. Happy that I broke down and got it.

The preamp is great but UI is not for meI really like the preamps on this thing. It looks and feels premium! Solid metal construction. However, the mix button from, DAW to Mic input has proven hard to balance.I though it would be a really nice feature to have but.It feels like I end up having to choose between hearing myself on my headphones or hearing the DAW at reasonable level.Whenever I go past the middle point the mix know towards either side hoping for a mild adjustment the volume rises sharply.I think I’ll just leave it at the middle and balance the audio going in to the headphones directly from Audition.Additionally It feels like a mute input button would have been a much better feature to have on this device instead of the Scroll feature.I’ll try it for another week or so, But there’s a strong change I’ll just keep it as a backup and go back to my H6
