If you’ve ever heard someone sing or speak into a live microphone, there’s an excellent chance it was an SM58. Rock stars. Pop idols. Comedians. Presidents. Popes. Immortal words have passed through its iconic grille for generations. And with engineering and durability that set the world standard, it’s sure to keep turning up at legendary performances. The Shure SM58® is a unidirectional (cardioid) dynamic vocal microphone for professional vocal use in sound reinforcement and studio recording. A highly effective, built-in, spherical filter minimizes wind and breath “pop” noise. A cardioid pickup pattern isolates the main sound source while minimizing unwanted background noise. The SM58 has a tailored vocal response for a sound which is a world standard. Rugged construction, a proven shockmount system, and a steel-mesh grille ensure that even with rough handling, the SM58 will perform consistently. Outdoors or indoors, singing or speech, the SM58 is the overwhelming choice of professionals worldwide.

Don’t leave home without it for live speech and vocals. As an audio professional, I can tell you that this is the best $99 you will ever spend on a microphone. The SM58 has been an American classic for over 50 years. Why? It has superb off-axis rejection, in other words, it’s very effective in combating howl round or “feedback” in live sound reinforcement. It’s also indestructible. Seriously. It’s the Keith Richards of equipment. Dents and knocks? No problem. And it sounds fantastic for the money. Some people get snobby about it, but for a Neumann KMS-105 you’re looking at a microphone 8 times the price. And it won’t survive a drop off a cliff. All engineers and artists need at least one of these in their cupboard. If you’re wanting to do a studio recording, you’ll probably be looking at a condenser microphone for your vocals, but many a great track has been recorded with an SM58. Spend a Benjamin and be set for life.

Great sound quality!Great sound quality!Even a DJ friend of mine said my microphone sounds great. He asked me where I bought it. He’s going to buy one for himself so he doesn’t have to share his own personal microphone with anyone on karaoke night and other gigs. I sent him the link.I got many compliments on karaoke night from other people who were impressed that I brought my own mic, and impressed with the sound quality.Best purchase ever!

One of the best under $100Between Shure PG/PGA series, Shure SM48, Behringer XM8500, and this model from Pyle, this is second only to the SM48 in my book, and it’s the best value of the bunch. I’ve got thousands of dollars in my mic case, and I still use these frequently for comedy shows, DJs, drag shows, and other utility cases at our venue. Very reliable and the smooth frequency response through the boosted range a noticable advantage over other mics under $100!

Shure never missesI’ve heard a lot of good things about Shure, they have a good reputation so it was inevitable that I finally purchased one of their mics. And I can say without a doubt I’m not disappointed, the mic quality is fantastic, the materials feel solid, the metal shroud with the pop filter unscrews incase you need to fix the mic or replace the shroud, and the cable is very long, a little too long for my setup but it’s a very good length. Overall a very good mic.

Use it for vocalsI don’t have a sound studio so I wanted a quality midrange mic that sounds great but doesn’t pick up birds singing or cars driving by. I got it on sale and am very happy with this great quality mic.
